  • Multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWCNT) based nano-composite pastes having a high filler content are prepared for the facile fabrication of a counter electrode (CE) of dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC). A polystyrene-based functional block copolymer is prepared through a controlled "living" radical polymerization technique, affording a surface modifier for the dispersion control of MWCNT in the paste. Physical dispersion through a ball-milling method additionally confirms the importance of the dispersion control, providing DSSC with enhanced processibility and improved solar-to-electricity energy conversion efficiency (${\eta}$) values. The performances of the DSSCs are further improved through the incorporation of minor amount of platinum (Pt) nanoparticles into the MWCNT pastes. The DSSC with the Pt/MWCNT hybrid CE exhibits very high ${\eta}$ values, which is superior to that of DSSC with the standard Pt CE.

  • This study investigates the effects of a carbon fiber layer formed on the surface of an etched aluminum current collector on the electrochemical properties of the activated carbon electrodes for an electric double layer capacitor. A particle size analyzer, field-emission SEM, and nitrogen adsorption/desorption isotherm analyzer are employed to analyze the structure of the carbon fiber layer. The electric and electrochemical properties of the activated carbon electrodes using a carbon fiber layer are evaluated using an electrode resistance meter and a charge-discharge tester, respectively. To uniformly coat the surface with carbon fiber, we applied a planetary mill process, adjusted the particle size, and prepared the carbon paste by dispersing in a binder. Subsequently, the carbon paste was coated on the surface of the etched aluminum current collector to form the carbon under layer, after which an activated carbon slurry was coated to form the electrodes. Based on the results, the interface resistance of the EDLC cell made of the current collector with the carbon fiber layer was reduced compared to the cell using the pristine current collector. The interfacial resistance decreased from 0.0143 Ω·cm2 to a maximum of 0.0077 Ω·cm2. And degradation reactions of the activated carbon electrodes are suppressed in the 3.3 V floating test. We infer that it is because the improved electric network of the carbon fiber layer coated on the current collector surface enhanced the electron collection and interfacial diffusion while protecting the surface of the cathode etched aluminum; thereby suppressing the formation of Al-F compounds.

  • Printing technology is accepted by appropriate technology that smart phones, tablet PC, display(LCD, OLED, etc.) precision recently in the electronics industry, the market grows, this process in the ongoing efforts to improve competitiveness through the development of innovative technologies. So printed electronics appeared by new concept. This technology development is applied on electronic components and circuits for the simplification of the production process and reduce processing costs. Low-temperature process making possible for widening, slimmer, lighter, and more flexible, plastic substrates, such as(flexible) easily by forming a thin film on a substrate has been studied. In the past, the formation of the electrode used a screen printing method. But the screen printing method is formation of fine patterns, high-speed printing, mass production is difficult. The roll-to-roll printing method as an alternative to screen printing to produce electronic devices by printing techniques that were used traditionally in the latest technology and processing techniques applied to precision control are very economical to implement fine-line printing equipment has been evaluated as. In order to function as electronic devices, especially the dozens of existing micro-level of non-dot print fine line printing is required, the line should not break at all, because according to the specifications required to fit the ink transfer conditions should be established. In this study of roll-to-roll printing conductive paste suitable for gravure offset printing by developing Ag paste for forming fine patterns to study the basic physical properties with the aim of this study were to.

  • The screen printed technique is one of the electrode forming technologies for crystalline silicon solar cell. It has the advantage that can raise the production efficiency due to simple process. The electrode technology is the core process because the electrode feature is given a substantial factor (for solar cell efficiency). In this paper, we tried to change conditions such as squeegee angle $55{\sim}75^{\circ}$, snap off 0.5~1.75 mm, printing pressure 0.6~0.3 MPa and 1.6~2.0 mm finger spacing. As a result, the screen printing process showed an improved performance with an increased height higher finger height. Optimization of fabrication process has achieved 17.48% efficiency at screen mesh of 1.6 mm finger spacing.

  • A new enzyme electrode was developed by co-mobilization of chicken small intestinal tissue and ferrocene in a carbon paste for the determination of hydrogen peroxide, and its electrochemical properties are evaluated. The electrode showed the response time(t100%) as short as 3 set, the detection limit of 5.0${\times}$10-5 M,and a good selectivity for the possible interferents tested. The electrode also offered a good linearity in calibration, a higher biocatalytic stability and a larger responding signal as compared with the other animal or plant tissue based sensors.

  • In order to improve the efficiency of dye-sensitized solar cell (DSC), $TiO_2$ electrode screen-printed on transparent conducting oxide (TCO) substrate was sintered in variation with different temperature(350 to $550^{\circ}C$). $TiO_2$ electrode on fluorine doped tin oxide (FTO) glass was assembled with Pt counter electrode on FTO glass. I-V properties of DSC were measured under solar simulator. Also, effect of sintering temperature on surface morphology of $TiO_2$ films was investigated to understand correlation between its surface morphology and sintering temperature. Such surface morphology was observed by atomic force microscopy (AFM). From the measurement results, at sintering temperature of $500^{\circ}C$, both efficiency and fill factor of DSC were mutually complementary, enhancing highest fill factor and efficiency. Consequently, it was considered that optimum sintering temperature of $\alpha$-terpinol included $TiO_2$ paste is at $500^{\circ}C$.

  • Bio assay of mercury and cadmium ions were searched using voltammetric analysis using DNA doped carbon nanotube paste electrodes (DCP). The square-wave stripping voltammetryic optimized results indicated working ranges of 1-10.0 $ngL^{-1}$ and 20-100 $ugL^{-1}$, Hg(II) Cd(II) within an accumulation time of 120 seconds, in 0.1-M phosphate buffer solutions of pH 6.3. The relative standard deviations of 5 $ngL^{-1}$ Hg(II) and Cd(II) that observed were 0.14 and 0.22% (n=12), respectively, using optimum conditions. The low detection limit (S/N) was pegged at 0.1 $ngL^{-1}$ ($4.9{\times}10^{-11}M$) Hg(II) and 0.2 $ngL^{-1}$ ($1.77{\times}10^{-10}M$) Cd(II). The developed methods can be applied to assays in biological fish kidneys and water samples.

  • The interface between low carbon steel and blended cement pastes containing slag was investigated using impedance spectroscopy. In addition, the pastes were characterized by several analytical methods (XRD, EDX, electrode potential, pH and ICP). The electrical behavior of the interface in the blended slag systems is correlated to its corresponding pore solution chemistry and the products present in the interface. Passivation occurred at the paste/steel interfaces, in cement pastes up to containing from 0 to 75% slag content. 100% slag paste induced corrosion of the low carbon steel, which could be explained by the influence of sulfur on the system.
