광필터의 스펙트럼 검사시스템 개발 (A New System Development for the Spectrum Inspection of Optical Filters)

  • Optical filters in WDM are passive communication components used in case of transmitting and reflecting lights with specific wavelengths. In this paper, a novel mechanism for the automatic and optical alignment has been presented. It includes minimum axes not to be coupled each other. The automatic spectrum inspection system has been developed to improve the alignment time of reference optical ray, spectrum inspection time and inspection quality, simultaneously. It has been confirmed that the proposed spectrum inspection system is faster, more precise and more reliable than those based on the conventional handwork.

  • Continuously controlled semi-active suspension system may improve ride and handling properties. Here, as a mechanism to control the fluid flow solenoid valve mechanism is introduced and added to the basic passive damper to create damping forces of the shock absorbers. The system may produce continuously controlled damping forces in both solenoid valve only and combination with passive shock absorber including fluid flow is studied, and then the combined model is added to the full vehicle model to evaluate its ride and handling performance. Finally, the simulation results are compared to the vehicle models having similar suspension system.

Kinematics and Optimization of 2-DOF Parallel Manipulator with Revolute Actuators and a Passive Leg

  • In this paper, a 2-DOF planar parallel manipulator with two revolute actuators and one passive constraining leg. The kinematic analysis of the mechanism is analytically performed : the inverse and forward kinematics problems are solved in closed forms, the workspace is derived systematically, and the three kinds of singular configurations are round. The optimal design to determine the geometric parameters and the operating limits of the actuated legs is performed considering the kinematic manipulability and workspace size. These results of the paper show the effectiveness of the presented manipulator.

  • In this paper, design and integration of a newly developed double-tracked mobile robot called ROBHAZ-DT are introduced. It is designed to carry out military and civil missions in various hazardous environments such as the areas of fire, war, disaster and mine field etc. ROBHAZ-DT is configured with three mechanical bodies, namely front, rear and main body. By using its rotational passive adaptation mechanism equipped between the front and rear bodies, ROBHAZ-DT shows a good mobile capability on uneven terrain including stairs. Design and development of an automated all-terrain wheeled robot

  • Due to the rapid progress in the field of robotics, it is a high time to concentrate on the development of a robot that can manoeuvre in all type of landscapes, ascend and descend stairs and sloping surfaces autonomously. This paper presents details of a prototype robot which can navigate in very rough terrain, ascend and descend staircase as well as sloping surface and cross ditches. The robot is made up of six differentially steered wheels and some passive mechanism, making it suitable to cross long ditches and landscape undulation. Static stability of the developed robot have been carried out analytically and navigation capability of the robot is observed through simulation in different environment, separately. Description of embedded system of the robot has also been presented and experimental validation has been made along with some details on obstacle avoidance. Finally the limitations of the robot have been explored with their possible reasons.

  • A spatial 3 degrees-of-freedom mechanism employing Stewart Platform structure is proposed: the mechanism maintains the 3- RRPS structure of Stewart Platform but has an additional passive PRR serial sub-chain at the center area of the mechanism in order to constrain the output motion of the mechanism within the output motion space of the added PRR serial subchain. The forward and reverse position analyses of the mechanism are performed. Then the mechanism having both the forward and the reverse closed-form solutions is suggested and its closed form solutions are derived. It is confirmed, through the kinematic analysis of those two proposed mechanisms via kinematic isotropic index, that both the proposed mechanisms have fairly good kinematic characteristics compared to the existing spatial 3-DOF mechanisms in literature.

  • In this paper, a novel 1 DOF hand rehabilitation robot is proposed in consideration of ADL training for stroke patients. To perform several ADL trainings, the proposed robot can move the thumb part and the part of 4 fingers simultaneously and realize the full ROM (Range of Motion) in grasp. Based on these characteristics, the proposed robot realizes several types of grasp such as cylindrical grasp, lateral grasp, and pinch grasp by using a passive revolute joint that can change the thumb movement direction. The movement of the thumb is driven by a cable mechanism and the part of 4 fingers is moved by a four-bar linkage mechanism.

Rough Terrain Negotiable Mobile Platform with Passively Adaptive Double-Tracks and Its Application to Rescue Missions and EOD Missions

  • This paper presents design and integration of the ROBHAZ-DT3, which is a newly developed mobile robot system with chained double-track mechanisms. A passive adaptation mechanism equipped between the front and rear body enables the ROBHAZ-DT3 to have good adaptability to uneven terrains including stairs. The passive adaptation mechanism reduces energy consumption when moving on uneven terrain as well as its simplicity in design and remote control, since no actuator is necessary for adaptation. Based on this novel mobile platform, a rescue version of the ROBHAZ-DT3 with appropriate sensors and a semi-autonomous mapping and localization algorithm is developed to participate in the RoboCup2004 US-Open: Urban Search and Rescue Competition. From the various experiments in the realistic rescue arena, we can verify that the ROBHAZ-DT3 is reliable in traveling rugged terrain and the proposed mapping and localization algorithm are effective in the unstructured environment with uneven ground. The another application is an military robot for an EOD(Explosive Ordnance Disposal) and reconnaissance mission. The military version of the ROBHAZ-DT3 with a water disrupter, a thermal scope and a long distance wireless communication device is developed and sent to the area of military tactics in Iraq. Consequently, the feasibility of the military version of ROBHAZ-DT3 is verified.

하이브리드 입체 카메라의 적응적인 스위칭 메커니즘 (An Adaptive Switching Mechanism for Three-Dimensional Hybrid Cameras)

  • 최근 들어, 주변의 환경 분석을 보다 효과적으로 수행하기 위해서 많은 종류의 3차원 입체 카메라가 보급되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 주위 환경의 복잡도에 따라서 하이브리드 카메라의 수동형과 능동형 카메라를 적응적으로 스위칭함으로써 3차원의 영상정보를 보다 정확하게 추출할 수 있는 메커니즘을 제안한다. 제안된 방법에서는 먼저 초기영상을 받아들이고, 이 입력영상으로부터 주변의 환경을 대표할 수 있는 주요 특징인 밝기 특징과 텍스처 특징을 추출한다. 그런 다음, 추출된 밝기와 텍스처 특징값을 가장 잘 수용할 수 있는 카메라를 선택하는 규칙을 생성함으로써 하이브리드 카메라를 적응적으로 스위칭한다. 실험에서는 수동형과 능동형으로 구성된 하이브리드 입체 카메라를 구성하고, 제안된 적응적인 스위칭 알고리즘을 하이브리드 카메라에 적용하여 성능을 측정하기 위한 실험결과를 기술하며, 제안된 방법이 신뢰성 있게 동작함을 보여준다.

수동제어 장치를 이용한 3 차원 자동차 모형의 항력감소 (Drag Reduction of a Three-Dimensional Car Model Using Passive Control Device)

  • In this study, a passive control using a boat-tail device is conducted for a three-dimensional car model in ground proximity. We consider various boat-tails and investigate the mechanism of drag reduction by them. By varying the length and slant angle of boat-tail, we obtain drag reductions up to 40%. From the oil-surface flow visualization and hot-wire measurement, the drag reduction by the boat-tail is characterized by the shear-layer instability and reattachment on the boat-tail, forming a small separation bubble at the upstream part of boat-tail surface, resulting in the delay of main separation and drag reduction. At high slant angles, the flow fully separates and drag is nearly same as that of no control.
