  • 'Interaction' here means an action that reciprocally affects each other. In this action each change and movement does not exist independently but acts upon each other. The interaction of fashion design has undergone a lot of changing experiences. Besides it assumes the role of an appreciator that participates in the formation of work. This interaction breaks down the distinction between the designer as the maker and presenter of dress and the passive dresser and appreciator as its passive receivers.. Finally, it integrates the creator, receiver and technology altogether. The interaction tendencies of fashion design treated in this study are classified into four types. First, the mechanism that is included as a part of work and the cognitive response that the observer experiences. Second, the response that fashion design displays towards the stimulus of circumstances. Third, the changeability of manipulation of fashion design. Fourth, the control that mechanism acts upon dynamic status by technology. As in may other fields of our life, interaction in fashion design reflects the change and interactivity of our thinking and ideas.

  • Sustainable design is getting to be controversial issue in all industries over the world particularly, in architecture as the amount of energy usage in architecture occupies 40%. Therefore, it is essential to make the standard for the sustainable design. In order to construct the sustainable design, firstly it should be considered that sustainable design elements based on natural resources to increase building energy efficiency is established and classified. The method of sustainable design divides into passive design and active design. Passive design method should be examined with active one simultaneously for more efficient usage of energy. Next, the study is followed how the sustainable design elements is adopted in buildings through the comparison of cases study of domestic and oversea. The result of case study shows similar adoption of sustainable design elements between oversea and domestic. However, the difference is shown in the building orientation and shape and the window size and position in Solar energy as well as high performance structure in Heat energy. These elements are the most significant elements in order to reduce energy load. In oversea, sustainable design is generated by architects, a client, and consultants based on the close cooperation in the beginning of early design phase before deciding building shape and envelope while in the domestic field adoption for sustainable design is conducted after deciding building shape and material. In order to design sustainable architecture more study is necessary in early stage for Zero Carbon and reducing building energy load through relation with specialists, a client and architects.

  • Dynamic characteristics of smart laminated composite plates with passive constrained layer damping have been investigated to design structure with maximum possible damping capacity. The equations of motion are derived fur flexural vibrations of symmetrical, multi-layer laminated plates. The damping ratio and modal damping of the first bending and torsional modes are calculated by means of iterative complex eigensolution method. (omitted)

  • The task, development of the exemplary patterns for the application of passive solar systems in residential buildings, is very crucial regarding government policies toward energy conservation. So various measurements, evaluation, and feasibility studies are performed in addition to their architectural design and detailed drawings. In conclusion, passive solar systems are effective and economical when they are applied to residential buildings for heating systems.

  • A passive RF smart card incorporating a non volatile memory element is powered by inductive coupling to a proximately located RF reader. Therefore, the power consumption in the smart card should be low. In this study, we designed the low power passive RF smart card that is operated at 125kHz to apply to the subway ticket system.

  • In this paper, seven-order elliptic low-pass passive network is synthesized by using doublyterminated ladder network is directly transformed into the active network which has the advantage of low sensitivity and can be realized conveniently. The circuit simulation results of passive network and active network synthesized with FDNR and Leap-frog technique are compared, and it is proved that the two rest work has the same characteristics.

  • In this study, the performances of a passive tuned mass damper (TMD) and a semi-active TMD (STMD) were evaluated in terms of seismic response control of elastic and inelastic structures under seismic loads. First, elastic displacement spectra were obtained for damped structures with a passive TMD and with a STMD proposed in this study. The displacement spectra confirmed that the STMD provided much better control performance than passive TMD and the STMD had less stroke requirement. Also, the robustness of the TMD was evaluated by off-tuning the frequency of the TMD to that of the structure. Finally, numerical analyses were conducted for an inelastic structure of hysteresis described by the Bouc-Wen model. The results indicated that the performance of the passive TMD whose design parameters were optimized for an elastic structure considerably deteriorated when the hysteretic portion of the structural responses increased, and that the STMD showed about 15-40% more response reduction than the TMD.

  • Unlike industrial manipulators, the manipulators mounted on the service robots are interacting with humans in various aspects. Therefore, safety has been the important design issue. Many compliant robot arm designs have been introduced for safety. It is known that passive compliance method has faster response and higher reliability than active ones. In this paper, a new safe mechanism based on passive compliance has been proposed. Passive mechanical elements, specifically transmission angle of the 4-bar linkage, springs and shock absorbing modules are incorporated into this safe mechanism. This mechanism works only when the robot arm exerts contact force much more than the human pain tolerance. Validity of the safe mechanism is verified by simulations and experiments. In this research, it is shown that the manipulator using this mechanism provides higher performance and safety than those using other passive compliance mechanisms.
