SF_6 가스와 절연지의 절연계에서 가스압력에 따른 부분방전현상 (Partial Discharge Phenomenon with $SF_6$ Gas Pressures in Insulation consisting of Insulation Paper and $SF_6$ Gas)

  • This paper describes partial discharge phenomenon with SF6gas pressures in insulation consisting of insulation paper and SF6 gas. We made the specimens with SF6 gas gaps which exist between aramid papers and electrodes and calculated the electric field intensity in the these gaps. We measured the partial discharge inception voltages and the AC breakdown voltages with the test method of IEC 60060-2 and did the partial discharge degradation experiments with a constant voltage. According to gas pressures, the breakdown voltages in SF6gas gaps were calculated by Paschen's law. And these results showed the ability applying partial discharge inception voltages evaluation to Paschen's law and the relationship between the PD quantities occurring insulation breakdown and PD occurring area.

탄소나노튜브 전극으로부터 전계방출을 이용한 가스센서의 응용 (Application to Gas Sensors by Electron Emission from Carbon Nanotube Emitters)

  • We fabricated gas sensors using carbon nanotubes (CNTs) as electron emitters for the purpose of detecting inert gases. By using the silicon-glass anodic bonding and glass patterning technologies with the typical Si process, we improved the compactness of the sensors and the reliability in process. The proposed sensor, based on, an electrical discharge theory known as Paschen's law in principle, works by figuring the variation of the discharge current depending on gas concentration. In the experiment, the initial breakdown characteristics were measured for air and Ar as a function of gas pressure. As the result, even though it should be realized that there are many other factors which have an effect on the breakdown of a gap, the sensors led to similar result as predicted by Paschen's law, and they showed a possibility as gas sensors which enable to detect the gas density ranged to the vacuum pressure from 1 to $10^{-3}$ Torr.

  • Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been well known as electron emitters for field emission applications like FEDs. In this work, we propose as new application a vacuum sensor using CNTs and discuss its current-voltage characteristics as a function of vacuum pressure. The proposed sensor, based on electrical discharge theories in air gap well-known as Townsend theory and as Paschen's law, works by figuring out the variation of the dark current and the initial breakdown voltage depending on the vacuum pressure of air which can ionize through collisions with the electrons accelerated by high electric field.

  • In this paper, the discharge phenomena of high frequency glow discharge in organic vapor are basically investigted to establish the growth mechanism and preparation technique for organic thin film. According to the increasing of discharge frequency, the discharge firing voltage(Vs) of organic vapor decreases. The dependence of discharge voltage(Vd) on gas pressure is generally in accord with Paschen's Law and Vd decreases as gas flow rate become larger, but increases as dischange current density become higher. And the values of Vd in organic vapor are generally higher than those of inorganic gas.

  • 고본 연구는 모의 GIS내 절연특성을 $SF_6$ Gas의 온도의 변화($+30{\sim}-40[^{\circ}C]$)에 따른 절연특성을 구명하였다. 절연 특성은 기체상태의 Paschen's law 적용구간, 기체와 액체 공존상태의 절연파괴전압이 대세적으로 높고, 편차가 심한 구간과 챔버 내부가 저밀도 $SF_6$와 잔류공기의 혼합체로 이루어지는 극히 낮은 압력상태로 되어 절여파괴 전압이 크게 낮아지는 구간으로 구분되었다. 또한 본 실험에서 액체 $SF_6$가 기체 $SF_6$보다 절연특성이 우수함을 확인하였다. 상전이와 절연특성을 구명함으로서 각종 고온초전도 및 극저온 응용 설비의 절연설계의 기초 자료로 제공하고자 한다.

  • Industrial, medical, environment and agriculture application of pulse power technology have been developing rapidly in many field. In order to make use in the form of pulses is applied to the pulse forming technique. At this time, spark gap is generally used for the pulse forming. Spark gap may be possible to simulate the shape of the electrode, to know the uniform or non-uniform electric field of the electrode structure. Further, it can be determined using Paschen's law applied pressure of the insulating gas in accordance with the voltage which is created using the value of the electric field. In this paper, we tried to found using a formula and the simulation process to determine the pressure. The value of the electric field is different according to the shape of the electrode. So, the range of pressure applied also varies. In order to withstand the 100 kV with a gap of 5 mm, the nitrogen gas must be applied to about 7 bar in the electrode structure. On the other hand, in the same conditions, Sulfur hexafluoride gas must be applied to about 2 bar. Consequently, the Sulfur hexafluoride gas has a higher insulation properties than nitrogen gas may be applied to low pressure at the same conditions.

Relationship between Secondary Electron Emissions and Film Thickness of Hydrogenated Amorphous Silicon

  • The temporal variation of a secondary electron emission coefficient (${\gamma}$ coefficient) of hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) was investigated in a dc silane plasma. Estimated ${\gamma}$ coefficients have a value of 2.73 ${\times}$ 10$^{-2}$ on the pure aluminum electrode and 1.5 ${\times}$ 10$^{-3}$ after 2 hours deposition of -Si:H thin films on a cathode. It showed an abrupt decrease for about 30 minutes before saturation. The variation of the ${\gamma}$ coefficient was estimated as a function of the thin film thickness, and the film thickness was about 80 nm after 30 minutes deposition time. These results are compared with the results of a computer simulation for ion penetration into a cathode.

Effect of Conductor Radius of Polyesterimide- Polyamideimide Enameled Round Wire on Insulation Breakdown Voltage and Insulation Lifetime

  • Insulation breakdown voltage and insulation lifetime were investigated in straight lines or twisted pairs with polyesterimide-polyamideimide enameled round wires (EI/AIW ). The enamel thickness was 50 μm and the conducting copper radius was 0.50, 0.75, 1.09, and 1.50 mm, respectively. There were many air gaps in a twisted pair therefore, when voltage was applied to the twisted pair, enamel erosion took place in the air gap area because of partial discharge according to Paschen's law. Insulation breakdown voltage and insulation lifetime were highest in the sample of 0.75 mm conductor radius, which was higher than those values for 0.50 mm or 1.09 and 1.55 mm.

  • This paper attempts to discuss the pseudo-spark which is developed for high voltage and high current. The pseudo-spark switch is on the basic of the Paschen's law. The pseudo-spark switch fabricates the glass chamber. The pseudo-spark switch consists of hollow cathode, hollow anode, and trigger. The pseudo-spark switch is operated at the voltage of 20 kV and the pressure range of $20{\sim}80$ mtorr with He-gas. The switching current of the pseudo-spark switch was measured as 65 kA, and the duration of the pulse was about 100 ${\mu}s$. This paper describes the results of tests and the characteristics of the switch.

  • In this paper, we studied Surface Discharge Type Flat Fluorescent Lamp with High Luminance for LCD Backlighting, Liquid Crystal display(LCDs) demand the use of fluorescent lamp as the backlighting source. This lamp is Surface Discharge Type structure with a pair of Sodalime glass, insulator layer, phosphor layer, and Xe gas gap. In spite of its simple structure, the lamp has uniform and stable discharge over entire volume. Till now, we measured the current-voltage(V-I), Firing Voltage, Sustain Voltage for 0.5mm, 1mm electrode gap. In experiment result, long gap cell structure cause high firing voltage. The rising in firing voltage in long gap structure could not be explained by paschen's law because of non-uniform electric field.
