공단지역에서 대기중 총 부유분진의 입자크기 분포와 화학적 성분에 관한 분석과 연구 (A Study on the Size Distribution and Chemical Composition of total Suspended Particulates at Industrial Region)

  • The concentration of Total Suspended Particulates(T.S.P), size distribution of suspended particulates, and soluble anions of T.S.P in atmosphere of industrial region in Busan were investigated. T.S.P was measured by High-Volume Air Sampler and particle size distribution was measured by Anderson Air Sampler. We analyzed the chemical component of the T.S.P by ion Chromatography and measure4 the shape and size of T.S.P by Scanning Electron Micrography The small size of T.S.P mainly exist in industrial region, but the large size of T.S.P mainly exist in residentail area.

  • An effective thermal conductivity measurement for suspensions of microparticles in oil mixture is conducted in order to evaluate the shear rate-dependence of the thermal conductivity of suspensions. Measurements are made for rotating Couette flows between two concentric cylinders. The rotating outer cylinder is immersed into a constant temperature water bath while the stationary inner cylinder is subject to a uniform heat fluff. Test fluids are made to be homogeneous suspensions, in which neutrally buoyant microparticles ($d=25{\sim}300{\mu}m$) are uniformly dispersed. The present measurements show strong shear-rate dependent thermal conductivities for the suspensions, which are higher than those at zero shear rate. The shear rate dependent thermal conductivity increases with the particle size and volume concentration.4 new model for shear rate-dependent thermal conductivity of microparticle suspensions is proposed; the correlation covers from zero shear rate value to asymptotic plateau value at moderately high shear rates.

  • The effects of injection pressure and the distance between injectors on the droplet distribution characteristics of liquid spray for dual orifice type swirl injectors were experimentally investigated. The SMD distributions, volume concentration and Rosin- Rammler variation N of liquid spray droplets for water and a fuel were measured by using the laser diffraction particle sizer. The results of present study show that SMD decreases and spray angle increases as the injection pressure increases. The interaction of sprays from two injectors gives more uniform SMD distribution in the radial direction. As the distance between two injectors increases, SMD that is measured in the interacting region increases. The effect of viscosity on the droplet distribution in the interacting region is greater than the that of surface tension of liquid.

  • The combination of ultrasound echo images with digital particle image velocimetry (DPIV) methods has resulted in a two-dimensional, two-component velocity field measurement technique appropriate for opaque flow conditions including blood flow in clinical applications. Advanced PIV processing algorithms including an iterative scheme and window offsetting were used to increase spatial resolution. The optimum concentration of the ultrasound contrast agent used for seeding was explored. Velocity validation tests in fully developed laminar pipe flow result of echo PIV showed good agreement with both optical PIV measurements and the known analytic solution based on a volume flow measurement.

대향류 에틸렌/공기 비예혼합 화염의 구조 및 Soot 생성 메커니즘 해석 (Numerical Analysis for the Detailed Structure and the Soot Formation Mechanism in Counterflow Ethylene-Air Nonpremixed Flame)

  • The flame structure and soot formation in the counterflow Ethylene-Air nonpremixed flame are numerically analyzed. The present soot reaction mechanism involves nucleation, surface growth, particle coagulation, and oxidation steps. The gas phase chemistry and the soot nucleation, surface growth reactions are coupled by assuming that the nucleation and soot mass growth has the certain relationship with the concentration of benzene and acetylene. In terms of the centerline velocity and the soot volume fraction, the predicted results are compared with the experimental data. The detailed discussion has been made for the sensitivity of model constants and the deficiencies of the present model. Numerical results indicated that the acetylene addition to the soot surface plays the dominant role in the soot mass growth for the counterflow nonpremixed flame.

  • o-Aminobenzene sulfone-N-ethylanilide, the diazo component of C.I. Acid Red 57, is currently being diazotised by the use of nitrosylsulphuric acid because of its high molecular weight and weak basicity. However, this method has many problems such as complicated manufacturing process and discharge of large volume of strong acidic effluent. In this study, the possibility of replacing nitrosylsulphuric acid method by direct method, which is simpler and produces less effluent, has been checked and the optimum process condition was studied. The effect of HCl concentration, the amount of sodium nitrite and particle size of diazo component on diazotisation yield was investigated. The optimum pH condition for coupling reaction was also evaluated.

  • Fabrication technique and performance test of catalytic micro propulsion are treated based on MEMS technology. This propulsion is designed to use hydrogen peroxide as liquid mono-propellant for attitude control of pica-satellite. The propellant is fed into the micro reactor channel and decomposed into hot gas yielding controllable thrust by catalyst. In order to increase the efficiency of the reaction that depends on the contact area of propellant and catalyst, porous surface formation on the channel accompanied by platinum particle deposition has been performed using H$_2$PtCl$_{6}$ solution as a precursor. Several thrusters were fabricated in different concentration of H$_2$PtCl$_{6}$ solution to determine the best quantity of Pt particles. For the comparison of the performance of each thruster, the volume of oxygen generated by the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide and the thrust were measured.red.

Second law thermodynamic analysis of nanofluid turbulent flow in heat exchanger

  • Entropy generation along with exergetic analysis is carried out using turbulent nanofluid flow in the heat exchanger. To obtain the optimized percentage constituent of nanofluid, the nanofluid volume concentrations is varied for the given input conditions. For different Reynolds number of the fluid and heat capacity rate ratio between the streams, the heat transfer improvements are studied in terms of nano particles diameter. Parametric analysis is carried out for a counterflow heat exchanger using turbulent nanofluid flow with exergetic efficiency along with entropy generation number as performance parameters. The exergetic efficiency provides realistic approach in the design of nanofluid applications in heat exchanger leading to conservation of energy.

炭素아-크 (arc)에 依한 Sol의 生成 (Preparation of Sols by Carbon-arc)

  • On sparking carbon-arc in water we found that a inflammable gas was generated. The object of this experiment is to prepare sols of metals by applying the gas mentioned to a solution of metallic salts. As the result of this experiment we found that : 1) By this method we can prepare easily some kinds of Ag-sol from $AgNO_3$ solution in about 30 sec. by adjusting the temperature, the quantity of stabilizer and the concentration of metallic salt. 2) The appropriate concentration of $AgNO_3$ is about 0.01% by volume, that of the stabilizer, 0.9104 N-NaOH is 0.03-2 cc/100 cc of 0.01% $AgNO_3$ solution. And the lower the temperature, the more concentrated the Ag-sol. But to check the possibility of applying this method to metals other than Au and Ag, measurement of the particle size and properties of a sol prepared by this method, should be studied. Especially, we must study what kinds of gases are generated by sparking the carbon-arc in water.

서울지역의 시정 장애 요인에 관한 연구 (On the Origin of Visibility Degradation in Seoul)

  • Visibility is a good indicator of comprehensive alto quality. The prevailing visibility in Seoul is no better than the past although the average concentration of SO2 and TSP (total suspended particulate) has decreased quite significantly in the past decade, owing to the government efforts to reduce the emission. Then, a question arises why visibility has not been improved. In order to answer this question we have investigated which components of air pollutants are most responsible for the visibility degradation in Seoul. Analysis on the visibility vs the aerosol sixte distribution measured by an optical particle counter shows that the particles of the size interval between 0.5mm and 2.5mm are most responsible for the visibility degradation. Among the criteria air Pollutants, NOB concentration is found to be moot responsible, rather than PM10. ton analysis of the particulate collected by a high volume sampler shows that the nitrate component increases more significantly than other ions when visibility becomes very poor. Therefore, we conclude that the major causes of visibility degradation in Seoul are the increase of NOB, nitrates and the particles of the size range between 0.5mm and 2.5mm.
