담배나방 핵다각체병바이러스의 형태 및 생화학적 특성 (Morphology and Biochemcial Characteristics of a Nuclear Polyhedrosis Virus Isolated from the Oriental Tobacco Budworm, Helicoverpa assulta (Guenee))

  • 담배와 고추의 주요해충인 담배나방 [Helicoverpa assulta(Guenee)]의 미생물적 방제법을 개발하기 위하여, 아직 국내에서 보고되지 않은 담배나방 핵다각체병 바이러스 담배나방 사충으로 부터 분리하고, 바이러스의 전자현미경 관찰 및 바이러스 DNA의 제한효소 분석 등을 통한 생화학적 특성을 조사하였다. 담배나방 핵다각체병 바이러스의 다각체는 구형에 가까운 20면체로서 크기는 평균 약 1.0$\mu$m 정도이고, 다수의 바이러스 입자가 다각체 단백질에 포매되어 있었다. 포매된 바이러스 입자는 한개의 봉상 nucleocapsid가 하나의 envelope 내에 매립된 형태의 SNPV(single embedded nuclear polyhedrosis virus)로, 형태는 전형적인 봉상으로서 그 크기는 약 $65nm\times300nm$ 였다. 또한 다각체 단백질의 SDS-PAGE 분석 결고, 분자량은 약 31 Kd이었으며, 담배나방 핵다각체병바이러스 DNA를 분리하여 EcoRI. HindIII 등 수종의 제한효소로 처리분석한 결과, 그 genome의 크기는 약 120Kb 정도였다. 본 핵다각체병바이러스는 담배나방 유충에만 병원성을 나타내 기주특이성을 보였다.

세륨 옥사이드/실리카 복합입자 제조 및 특성분석 (Preparation and Characterization of Cerium Oxide/Silica Composite Particles)

  • UV 및 블루라이트를 차단하는 세륨 옥사이드 나노 입자와 다공성 실리카와의 복합입자를 건식 코팅 공정을 통해 제조하였다. 실리카와 세륨 옥사이드 간 혼합 비율과 메카노 퓨전 장치의 챔버 회전속도 등의 제조 조건을 달리하여 여러 복합입자를 만든 후, 입자 표면 형태를 SEM으로 관측 비교하고 XRF을 통해 복합입자의 조성을 분석하였다. 세륨 옥사이드를 실리카와 함께 복합입자로 만들어 물에 분산시키면 현탁 용액의 투명도가 높아지고 분산 안정성이 향상되었다. 또한 파우더의 유동성과 발림성이 개선되었다. 본 연구를 통해 세륨 옥사이드/실리카 복합입자가 자외선 및 블루라이트를 차단하는 기능성 화장품 소재로 사용 가능함을 확인하였다.

에틸렌 글리콜을 이용하여 용매열 합성으로 Eu3+가 도핑된 Y2O3 나노 입자의 제조 및 특성 (Preparation and Properties of Eu3+ Doped Y2O3 Nanoparticles with a Solvothermal Synthesis Using the Ethylene Glycol)

  • 에틸렌글리콜을 용매로 하여 용매열 합성으로 20$0^{\circ}C$에서 3-5시간 반응시킨 후 1000-140$0^{\circ}C$에서 2-4시간동안 대기 중에서 열처리 과정으로 Eu가 도핑된 $Y_2$ $O_3$ 나노 입자는 제조되었다. 100$0^{\circ}C$에서 열처리한 결정의 X-선 회절패턴은 보고되어진 데이터(JCPDS 카드파일 41-1105, a=10.6041 $\AA$)와 거의 일치하는 격자상수 a=10.5856 $\AA$으로 순수한 큐빅 $Y_2$ $O_3$ 상을 나타내었다. 제조된 적색 형광체의 평균입자의 크기는 대략 100 nm로 구형의 형태를 가진다 열처리 온도가 증가함에 따라 형광체 입자의 크기가 감소하였고, 열처리 온도가 증가함에 따라 형광체의 발광 세기가 증가하였다. PL 스펙트럼 분석을 통해 Eu의 농도가 3 ㏖% 도핑된 $Y_2$ $O_3$은 250 nm 파장에서 여기 스펙트럼을 나타내었고 611 nm 파장에서 주발광 스펙트럼을 나타내었다.

  • Gallium oxide ($Ga_2O_3$) powders were synthesized using a precipitation method and a polymerized complex method. TG-DSC, SEM, and XRD were performed to investigate the phase and morphology of the $Ga_2O_3$. In situ high-temperature XRD analysis revealed the crystal structure of $Ga_2O_3$ at different temperatures. The $Ga_2O_3$ obtained using the precipitation method and polymerized complex method were generally spherical-shaped particles and their average particle size was approximately 80 nm and $1{\mu}m$, respectively. The crystal structure of the $Ga_2O_3$ prepared by the precipitation method was changed from rhombohedral to monoclinic at $700^{\circ}C$, while monoclinic $Ga_2O_3$ was obtained directly from the precursor by the polymerized complex method.

Optical and dielectric properties of nano BaNbO3 prepared by a combustion technique

  • Nanocrystalline Barium niobate ($BaNbO_3$) has been synthesized by a novel auto-igniting combustion technique. The X-Ray diffraction studies reveals that $BaNbO_3$ posses a cubic structure with lattice constant $a=4.071{\AA}$. Phase purity and structure of the nano powder are further examined using Fourier-Transform Infrared and Raman spectroscopy. The average particle size of the as prepared nano particles from the Transmission Electron Microscopy is 20 nm. The UV-Vis absorption spectra of the samples are recorded and the calculated average optical band gap is 3.74eV. The sample is sintered at an optimized temperature of $1425^{\circ}C$ for 2h and attained nearly 98% of the theoretical density. The morphology of the sintered pellet is studied with Scanning Electron Microscopy. The dielectric constant and loss factor of a well-sintered $BaNbO_3$ at 5MHz sample is found to be 32.92 and $8.09{\times}10^{-4}$ respectively, at room temperature. The temperature coefficient of dielectric constant was $-179pp/^{\circ}C$. The high dielectric constant, low loss and negative temperature coefficient of dielectric constant makes it a potential candidate for temperature sensitive dielectric applications.

Importance of Green Density of Nanoparticle Precursor Film in Microstructural Development and Photovoltaic Properties of CuInSe2 Thin Films

  • We demonstrate here that an improvement in precursor film density (green density) leads to a great enhancement in the photovoltaic performance of CuInSe2 (CISe) thin film solar cells fabricated with Cu-In nanoparticle precursor films via chemical solution deposition. A cold-isostatic pressing (CIP) technique was applied to uniformly compress the precursor film over the entire surface (measuring 3~4 cm2) and was found to increase its relative density (particle packing density) by ca. 20%, which resulted in an appreciable improvement in the microstructural features of the sintered CISe film in terms of lower porosity, reduced grain boundaries, and a more uniform surface morphology. The low-bandgap (Eg=1.0 eV) CISe PV devices with the CIP-treated film exhibited greatly enhanced open-circuit voltage (VOC, from 0.265 V to 0.413 V) and fill factor (FF, from 0.34 to 0.55), as compared to the control devices. As a consequence, an almost 3-fold increase in the average power conversion efficiency, 3.0 to 8.2% (with the highest value of 9.02%), was realized without an anti-reflection coating. A diode analysis revealed that the enhanced VOC and FF were essentially attributed to the reduced reverse saturation current density (j0) and diode ideality factor (n). This is associated with the suppressed recombination, likely due to the reduction in recombination sites such as grain/air surfaces (pores), inter-granular interfaces, and defective CISe/CdS junctions in the CIP-treated device. From the temperature dependences of VOC, it was confirmed that the CIP-treated devices suffer less from interface recombination.

The synthesis of green-emitting $GdPO_4$:Tb phosphor particles by the spray pyrolysis for PDP application

  • $GdPO_4$:Tb phosphor particles with spherical shape and high photoluminescence were prepared by spray pyrolysis. The brightness of prepared $GdPO_4$:Tb under the vacuum ultraviolet(VUV) illumination was comparable with that of the commercial $Zn_2SiO_4$:Mn phosphor particles. The photoluminescence spectra of $GdPO_4$:Tb phosphor particles had maximum peak at 547 nm, and the sharp peaks at 480 nm, 580 nm, and 620 nm. The spherical morphology of prepared $GdPO_4$:Tb particles was completely maintained even after the posttreatment up to 1100 $^{\circ}C$. When the posttreatment temperature was over 1100 $^{\circ}C$, the particles did not have the spherical shape anymore. The average particle size of $GdPO_4$:Tb phosphor particles prepared by using $(NH_4)_2HPO_4$ was changed from 0.5 to 1.9 ${\mu}m$ and its effect on the PL intensity was investigated. It was found that the optimized $GdPO_4$:Tb particles have a good excitation spectrum comparable to that of the commercial $Zn_2SiO_4$:Mn phosphor particles under the VUV illumination from 140 to 220 nm. We concluded that the $GdPO_4$:Tb phosphor particles with spherical shape prepared by spray pyrolysis is a promising candidate for a green-emitting PDP phosphor.

멜록시캄 함유 poly (D,L-lactic acid) 미소립자의 제조 및 평가 (Preparation and Evaluation of Meloxicam-loaded Poly(D,L-lactic acid) Microspheres)

  • Meloxicam-loaded microspheres were prepared with poly(D,L-lactic acid)(PLA) by a solvent-emulsion evaporation method. The morphology, particle size, drug loading capacity, drug entrapment efficiency (EE) and release patterns of drug were investigated in vitro. Various batches of micro spheres with different size and drug content were obtained by changing the ratio of meloxicam to $PLA^{\circ}{\AE}s$ with different molecular weight, PLA concentration in the dispersed phase and stirring rate. Meloxicam crystals on microsphere surface, which were released rapidly and could act as a loading dose, were observed with increasing drug content. The release rate was increased with increase in drug contents and decrease in the molecular weight of PLA. Microspheres prepared with smaller molecular weight produced faster drug release rate. The release rate of meloxicam for long-acting injectable delivery system in vitro, which would aid in predicting in vivo release profile, could be controlled by properly optimizing various factors affecting characteristics of microspheres. Blood concentration-time profile of meloxicam after intramuscular injection of meloxicam-loaded microspheres in rabbits showed possibility of long term application of this system in clinical settings.

수도권 위성도시의 토양과 분진의 중금속 오염에 대한 연구 (A Study on the Pollution of Heavy Metals in Soils and Dusts in Satellite Cities of the Seoul Capital Area)

  • The purposes of this research are to investigate the pollution level of heavy metals due to the urbanization and industrialization in the satellite cities of Seoul, and to assess the chemical species and the sources of heavy metals in highly contaminated soils and dusts. Soil and dust samples were collected from the Uijeongbu and the Koyang cities, which are northern and the northwestern satellite cities of Seoul metropolitan city, respectively. Relatively high pH values($6.3{\sim}9.9$) were found in roadside soils compared with agricultural and forest soils. Difference in pH values of soils was not identified between before and after rainy seasons. In spite of no specific pollution sources in the above cities, the contents of Cu, Pb, and Zn in soils and dusts were much higher than the world average contents. The metal levels in dusts were higher than those in soils, but the metal concentration in dusts was significantly decreased after rainy season. Pollution index was high(> 1.0) in the areas of heavy traffic, industrial complex, and city centres. There is an appreciable proportion of total Zn in exchangeable/water-acid soluble fraction. Copper is predominantly associated with reducible and oxidizable phases, whereas Pb is largely in reducible association. It is concluded that the mobility and bioavailability of metals are high in the order of Zn >> Cu > Pb, on the basis of characteristic particle morphology and chemical composition, Pb-containing particles are originated probably from the automobile exhaust, particularly in heavy traffic areas. The metallic forms and iron-oxide associated forms of Cr, Ni, Cu, Zn, and Pb can be assessed as industrial origin.

SEM-EDX에 의한 소총과 권총의 뇌관화약잔사 분석 (Analysis of rifle and pistol primer gunshot residue using SEM-EDX)

  • 총기사고에서 용의자 식별의 기초자료로 활용하기 위하여 3가지 유형의 한국형 총기인 K1A 기관단총, K2 소총, K5 권총의 뇌관화약잔사(Primer GSR)를 SEM-EDX로 분석하였다. 실내사격장에서 각 1발씩 3회 사격하여 얻은 뇌관화약잔사의 형태, 크기, 입자수 그리고 성분분석을 통한 각 입자의 원소 함량비율을 확인하였다. 뇌관화약잔사 입자는 대부분 Ba>>Pb>Sb의 함량비율을 갖고 있었지만 특정 형태의 입자에서는 Sb>Pb>Ba 혹은 Pb>Sb>Ba 등 Ba원소보다 Sb원소의 함량이 많게 나타난 입자가 발견되었다. 원소 성분비율이 차이가 나는 각 입자들을 통계처리 한 결과 사용된 탄의 종류에 따라 5.56 mm 탄을 사용한 K1A, K2 소총에서보다 9 mm 탄을 사용하는 K5권총에서 Sb원소가 Ba원소보다 함량비율이 큰 입자의 수가 3~8배 많은 것으로 확인되어 소총과 권총을 구분할 수 있었다. 또한 입자의 크기와 입자의 수에서도 역시 구분이 가능함을 확인할 수 있었다.
