A Study on the improvement through the present state analysis of the industry field training (산업체 현장실습 운영 현황 분석을 통한 개선 방안에 관한 연구)

  • This paper examines the industry field training education model, analyze the operational status proposed improvement measures. Data were analyzed using a field training participating students participating industry last three years. On the other hand analysis field training participating students increased, industry participation has decreased. And most of the students took part in the seasonal short-term job training. In addition, it was difficult to analyze the employment status field training operations follow-up member. In this paper, a field training operations support system management models and practical training courses organized field trips how to improve. Field training operations support will be strengthened through the work associated with the company expanding participation model introduced and is expected to increase in the long-term practical training, students participate in field training system improvement. Run the job training Improvement in future research presented in this paper attempts to analyze the students' employment status and results of operations involved.

  • A performance evaluation, which requires to observe students in the course of learning and studying and to evaluate their reports and materials, is emerging as an alternative evaluation method to overcome the shortcoming of simple written tests. However, there are many difficulties in real teaching setting to apply the performance evaluation, because it requires many burdens of efforts and time. In order to reduce these burdens of teachers, there have been several approaches which utilize the Internet for the evaluation. But these previous approaches have several limitations that they don't allow students' participation in evaluation activities, fail to provide a variety of evaluation methods. and/or support teachers' feedbacks very limitedly. In order to overcome these limitations. therefore. this paper designed and implemented a web- based performance evaluation system supporting the participation of students in doing evaluation themselves and various evaluation methods. which can be effectively managed by teachers. This web-based performance evaluation system developed in this paper can enhance not only students' high level thinking abilities but also their emotional and intellectual abilities. It can also help teachers to reduce the burden of working and the time in plenty used for evaluating students.

  • Classroom response systems (CRS) have been proven to have positive educational effects on student engagement and participation by allowing immediate feedback to both students and instructors. We explore the use of a chatbot and slide widget-based CRS to overcome some of the challenges of existing mobile-based CRSs while retaining their advantages. Our system uses widely available instant messaging services and operates web-based slide widgets that can be seamlessly integrated into instructors' slides to visualize student feedback in various formats. The student survey results indicate that our system is as effective as conventional CRSs in promoting student engagement and participation.

  • In this study, the on-line discussion learning system of physics investigation was developed for developing the creativity in the problem solving and critical thinking. And with the number of participants of a topic unit, the formation of multiple discussion field and a turn-taking, we found that the interaction patterns of the students were composed of interpersonal interaction pattern, interaction pattern of one to one participation, interaction pattern of one to many participation and interaction pattern of many to many participation. These interaction patterns could make us understand the participation structure and the aspect of interaction of the students in the cyber space.

  • The aim of this study is to show that using a Web-Based Instruction system is a better method to help counteract deficient teaching, learning conditions and facilities thus improving the students' interest, understanding, participation and skill development in Physical Education. The key findings of this study are as follows; The first advantage of using this system is that the theory of Softball is explained with the use of pictures rather than text, thus improving the students' understanding. The second is the method in which practical skills are explained and demonstrated. Action image sequences are used as opposed to the old method of using stationary pictures. This means that the learners can clearly see and understand why and, more importantly, how to use these skills. The third advantage is the technique used to teach the application of these skills. Using active rather than passive learning and thus engaging the student encourages improved participation and learning. The fourth advantage comes in evaluation: both subjective and objective questions are asked in theoretical evaluation, and the teachers can evaluate the students' understanding and skill development by filming their actual Softball games. A study about the convergent effects of team interaction and team metacognition affecting a continuous participation in learning community of university (팀상호작용과 팀메타인지가 대학생 학습공동체 지속참여에 미치는 융복합적 영향)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze convergent effects of team interaction and team metacognition of participants on a continuous participation in the university learning community. We developed 19 items of team interaction and 17 items of team metacognition through literature review. The subjects were 113 students who participated in learning community in A university. The results are as follows. First, team interaction level and team metacognition level can affect a continuous participation in learning community. The higher team interaction is and the lower team metacognition is, the higher continuous participation is. Second, among team interaction factors that affect a continuous participation in learning community, the more number of learning is and the more encouragement of one another is, the higher continuous participation is. But the less participation of members is, the less flow to learning is, and the less learning time is, the lower a continuous participation is. Third, among team metacognition factors that affect a continuous participation in learning community, the more number of learning is, the higher continuous participation is. But the more use of various learning tools is and the more learning time is, the lower continuous participation is. Based on these results, the convergent ways of support for continuous participation in the university learning community are as follows. First, supporting system is needed to induce students to experience the positive atmosphere of learning community by increasing number of learning to facilitate team interaction and urging them to encourage one another. Second, providing the effective utilization method is necessary for students to fully acknowledge the necessity and value of team metacognition activity.

The Effect of Contextual Knowledge on EFL Learners' Participation in Cross-Cultural Communication

  • This study examined the role of contextual knowledge in cross-cultural communication between non-native speakers on an interactive web with a bulletin board system through which college students of English at Japanese and Korean universities interacted with each other discussing the topics of local and global issues. The study investigated the influence of students' relative contextual knowledge on active participation in interactions and discussed the results focusing on the use of discourse strategies for meaning negotiation. The study argues that in interactions even between non-native speakers with limited proficiency, contextual knowledge in the topic under discussion affects the degree to which they accommodate to each other during communication and suggests that the focus of teaching English as a foreign language also should be given to what kind of contextual knowledge students need to obtain and how to express it rather than what level of proficiency in English they need to acquire.

A Study about Improvement of Experimentation on Carbon Dioxide Properties (이산화탄소의 성질 실험 장치 개선 방안 탐색)

  • One of the problems with testing for the presence of $CO_2$ is that the results are not visible. In order to over-come this weak point, a new testing method was developed with BTB indicator equipment, that made the gas visible. After that, the experiment was performed and tested the effects of the new visible equipment. The visible equipment could be adapted to regular class use successfully. Also, it was effective in that it reduced waste of gas, minimized danger potential through use of $CO_2$ canisters and candle-sticks, and also increased knowledge about indicators. The new experimental method and equipment affected the students' interest. It is possible that the students' positive participation was due to their interest in the new apparatus and application of the visual senses. The new system was tested fer its effects on teaching content and helping to produce sustained memory of the content. There were no significant differences between the groups in terms of content learning on initial content memory. However, when students in both groups were tested 4 months later, the visual experiment group sustained memory performance, while the other group showed a significant decrease. Generally, boys score higher than girls in terms of interest and participation in experimental activities. In this case, however, there were no difference between groups. It may have been due to introduction of new equipment and different methods from the textbooks. So, this could increase participation in science using various experiments.

  • This study investigates the actual status of Saturday program operation in Busan and explores the routes for acquiring information about the Saturday program and satisfaction with the program operation with the subjects of middle school students residing in Busan in order to develop efficient operation methods and also find ways to enhance the participation rate of the students. Therefore, with the subjects of 569 first, second, and third graders at 3 middle schools located in Busan, this research investigated the actual status of Saturday program operation in Busan to figure out the participation rate and satisfaction of the Saturday program, efficient operation methods for the Saturday program and ways to encourage participation in the Saturday program. It is needed to install cooperative Saturday program support centers to be operated collaboratively by local autonomous entities and the offices of education afterwards. And it is necessary to figure out which institution should take charge of the Saturday program according to the requests from teachers and students so that the proper institution can secure the budget and manpower and build a system to develop and operate the Saturday program.

FlappyBird Competition System: A Competition-Based Assessment System for AI Course (FlappyBird Competition System: 인공지능 수업의 경쟁 기반 평가 시스템의 구현)

  • In this paper, we present the FlappyBird Competition System (FCS) implementation, a competition-based automated assessment system used in an entry-level artificial intelligence (AI) course at a university. The proposed system provides an evaluation method suitable for AI courses while taking advantage of automated assessment methods. Students are to design a neural network structure, train the weights, and tune hyperparameters using the given reinforcement learning code to improve the overall performance of game AI. Students participate using the resulting trained model during the competition, and the system automatically calculates the final score based on the ranking. The user evaluation conducted after the semester ends shows that our competition-based automated assessment system promotes active participation and inspires students to be interested and motivated to learn AI. Using FCS, the instructor significantly reduces the amount of time required for assessment.
