Purpose - This study verified the mediating effect of volunteer activities in the influence of global citizenship consciousness on human rights sensitivity of university students majoring in business administration. Research design, data, and methodology - The survey was conducted on 172 4-year college students in G City, Korea. SPSS 23.0 program was used to perform frequency analysis, descriptive statistics analysis, correlation analysis, reliability analysis, and multiple regression analysis. In addition, path analysis was conducted to confirm the mediating effect of volunteer activities. Result - First, the "justice domain" had a statistically significant effect on human rights sensitivity. Second, the "cognitive domain" had a positive and significant effect on volunteer participation. Third, the volunteer participation of university students majoring in business administration had a positive and significant effect on human rights sensitivity. Fourth, in the relationship between global citizenship consciousness and human rights sensibility of university students, volunteer participation had a partial mediating effect. Conclusion - The period of college enrollment is an important time to establish life goals and strategies as adults. Therefore, if the university environment is built to grow into a healthy global citizen, it will help to cultivate global competence and the "sensitivity to human rights" that is more emphasized in the era of the 4th industrial revolution.

Methods: Research phases designed for this study were literature review, scale development, and discussion with experts and pre-test for content validity, and survey for construct validity and reliability. The scale was composed of 25 items with 7 dimensions and tested to 592 adults ranged from 20 to 59 aged living in S and W city. Results: From factor analysis, 7 dimensions were identified and named as follows: Health-perception, Health problem identifying and solving, Socio-economical involvement, Sociocultural relationship, Self-regulation, Spiritual wellbeing, and Health policy participation. The total explained variance was 54.69%. The reliability was .817 of Cronbach's alpha. The PCHC scale was significantly different from gender, religion, education level, monthly income, and presence of family disease, but not different from age and job. Also, there were significant correlations among Health Promotion Lifestyles Profile II, WHO QOL-BREF and self-efficacy. Conclusion: This PCHC scale is reliable and valid to measure personal competence of health care.

Purpose: This study was conducted to develop and test the effects of an emotional intelligence program for undergraduate nursing students. Methods: The study design was a mixed method research. Participants were 36 nursing students (intervention group: 17, control group: 19). The emotional intelligence program was provided for 4 weeks (8 sessions, 20 hours). Data were collected between August 6 and October 4, 2013. Quantitative data were analyzed using Chi-square, Fisher's exact test, t-test, repeated measure ANOVA, and paired t-test with SPSS/WIN 18.0. Qualitative data were analyzed using content analysis. Results: Quantitative results showed that emotional intelligence, communication skills, resilience, stress coping strategy, and clinical competence were significantly better in the experimental group compared to the control group. According to the qualitative results, the nursing students experienced improvement in emotional intelligence, interpersonal relationships, and empowerment, as well as a reduction in clinical practice stress after participation in the emotional intelligence program. Conclusion: Study findings indicate that the emotional intelligence program for undergraduate nursing students is effective and can be recommended as an intervention for improving the clinical competence of undergraduate students in a nursing curriculum.

This study aims to invest in empirical relationships in a model that becomes the process of Team-Performance due to participation in practical training through causality between Training Effectiveness variables, soft-skill competence, Employee-Creativity, and team performance. This study uses a quantitative approach. The analytical tool used is structural equation modeling (SEM) using AMOS version 23 software. Accidental sampling technique is used to collect the sample. As many as 202 respondents filled up a survey questionnaire with complete and valid answers. This study's results significantly contribute to fill the gap of inadequate empirical evidence that can answer critical questions about the missing link between training and employee-performance, more specifically between training-effectiveness and team-performance. The results showed that practical training would encourage employees' soft-skill competence, improve Employee-Creativity, and improve Team-Performance. Furthermore, training-effectiveness also plays a significant role in enhancing employee-creativity and helping in optimal team-performance. This study also found that the relationship between employee-creativity and team-performance did not show positive and significant results; therefore, empirically, it did not support the hypothesis built in this study. Practical training targeted towards increasing soft-skills and creativity is a fundamental reason which not only aims to contribute toward organizational performance but also provides personal feedback for self-development.

The purpose of this study is to identify effective strategies for promoting psycho-social adjustment by examining the mediating effects of self-esteem (SE) and moderating effects of social participation (SP) and discrimination experience (DE) in predicting social competence (SC) with acceptance of disability (AD). The subjects of the study were 1943 adults with a physical disability (1338 males and 605 females) and 233 adults with brain lesions (160 males and 73 females) aged between 19 and 65 years. Data were analyzed using SPSS and Process macro software, and conditional process analysis (model 18) in which the degree and onset of disability were controlled was performed. The results are as follows. First, SE was found to partially mediate the relationship between AD and SC. Second, the relationship between SE and SC was found to be moderated by SP but not by DE, and the relationship between SP and SC was found to be moderated by DE. In addition, the mediating effects of SE, which was moderated by SP, were found to not be moderated by DE. The clinical implication and suggestion for future research is discussed.
This paper is to analyse the case of citizen participation employed in the local government, Buk-gu (Northern District) in the city of Ulsan, Korea. A kind of deliberative type of citizen participation named' citizen jury' was exercised to resolve an environmental conflict between Buk-gu government and its residents. The conflict was caused by the construction of a food waste recycling facility near by some residential areas in Buk-gu. Theoretically this paper makes a typology of citizen participation methods. Two criteria are employed. First of all, lay citizens are the primary participant or not? Secondly, interactive communication is feasible or not among participants in the process of citizen participation. Four generic types of citizen participation are sorted out: technocratic, pluralist, direct/participatory, and deliberative type. Especially deliberative type of citizen participation is based on an idea of deliberative democracy. This paper argues that the case of citizen participation employed in Buk-gu belongs to deliberative type of citizen participation. The argument is based on the following reasons. Firstly, primary participants in deliberation process can be considered as lay citizens though they are selected form local NGOs and religious groups. According to a survey, most of participants said that they would participate in the process of deliberation in the capacity of lay citizens though they were selected by their own groups. Secondly, the citizen participation process was deliberately designed and implemented to facilitate competence of primary participants and fairness in the deliberation. Viewed from this analysis, this Buk-gu case can be safely considered an innovative method of citizen participation which is also very successful in resolving intractable environmental conflict in the local government.
In this research, the researchers constructed a survey questionnaire for measuring the multicultural competence of Korean mathematics teachers and administered the survey to 309 mathematics teachers. The analysis indicates that Korean mathematics teachers' level of multicultural competence is rather low (the mean is 2.636 and the standard deviation .290). In particular, the mean of the multicultural competence related to mathematics was lower than the mean of the multicultural competence in general. Moreover, there was no significant difference between the groups according to the length of teaching experience, the participation into the course in multicultural teacher education, and the experience of indirect exposure to people of different cultural background. On the contrary, the experience of direct exposure to people of different cultural background and teachers' major led to a significant difference in the within group comparison. Moreover, the analysis showed that mathematics teachers' level of competence in subject matter had significant impact on their teaching practice responsive to students' backgrounds. Based on the results, the researchers presented implications for the development of multicultural mathematics teacher education to enhance mathematics teachers' competence required for their teaching in culturally diverse school.
