Methods: We analyzed the data from Korean Youth Risk Behavior Web-based Survey, 2013 containing 36,655 and 35,780 for male and female students respectively. Study variables included PA, participation in physical education class, participation in team sports and subjective well-being. Control variables were school type, socio-economic status, level of parent education, living with parent, academic performance, delinquent behaviors, depression and perceived health. For this study, descriptive analysis, Chi-square test, and multivariate logistic regression analysis were performed. Results: Among boys, after adjusting for control variables, PA (past 7 days 0 time reference group vs. over 4 times: OR 1.306), physical education class (past 7 days 0 time reference group vs. over 3 times: OR 1.140), and team sports (no team reference group vs. 2 team: OR 1.206) were associated with subjective well-being. Among girls, control variables were adjusted. PA (past 7 days 0 time reference group vs over 4 times: OR 1.244), physical education class (past 7 days 0 time reference group vs. over 3 times: OR 1.161), and team sports (no team reference group vs. 2 team: OR 1.181) were associated with subjective well-being. Conclusions: Participation in physical activities may help adolescent promote their life satisfaction. Thus, education experts should develop various exercise curriculums to encourage participation in physical activities.

  • This study draws on data from the 1st (2005) to 6th (2015) waves of the Workplace Panel Survey regarding workplaces with labor representatives, i.e., a trade union or labor-management council, and analyzes these using a fixed effects panel data model to examine the relationship between the level of worker participation and the economic performance of workplaces. Analysis results indicate that higher levels of worker participation in an earlier time period are associated with higher per-worker value added (productivity) and per-worker labor costs (wages) at the current time period, but only up to a certain level beyond which the effect is found to decrease, thus forming an inverted-U shape pattern. Considered from a broad framework, these results are in line with the theoretical predictions by Freeman and Lazear (1995), who had established the logic behind the dynamics of the participation of labor representatives in management activities. In view of the fact that the current average level of worker participation in Korea is very low, the empirical analysis results of this study presents the policy implication that raising the level of workplace participation somewhat beyond current levels would yield improvements in economic performance in terms of the shared rent between labor and management - i.e., productivity (per-worker value added).

In terms of the participation status, participating seniors became aware of the project through facilities and about 70% participated in the public interest type; the primary goal was for a short-term financial preservation. As an analysis result on participation effectiveness, longer participation period and time affected the participation seniors' working conditions and self-esteem negatively, implying that a flexible and effective operation of participation period is necessary. Also, while seniors with financial stability were more positively affected on their subjective satisfaction, other significant variables had negative effects. This study holds a significance in providing political implications as the basic data to improve and vitalize future senior social activity support project through the analysis of effectiveness, such as working conditions, self-esteem and subjective satisfaction based on participant attributes, including participant characteristics, participation status and participation degree.

  • Purpose : This study is to investigate difference in the isometric muscular function of knee joints according to the time of participation in rehabilitation exercise in patients who had anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction. Methods : The subjects of this study were patients by sports injury or accident in the sports rehabilitation center of G hospital. The early exercise program group (n=7) started functional ability exercise from 2 weeks after the surgery and the late exercise program group (n=7) from 6 weeks after the surgery. Statistical analysis was used repeated measure ANOVA to test mean difference by using SPSS 18.0 for windows. Results : First, as to quadriceps femoris muscle according to the time of participation in exercise program, significant difference was observed according to interaction and time. Second, as to hamstring muscle according to the time of participation in exercise program, significant difference was observed in muscle strength according to time. Conclusion : This results suggest that if the effect of exercise program is similar between the early starting group and the late starting group, it is not necessary to have a long period of fixation as in the late exercise program group but is desirable to start functional ability exercise early in order to relieve pains in the knee joints.
