  • This paper argues that the basic modes of spatial cognition can be best identified in terms of argument/participant location, and shows that natural language uses‘simple’types of semantic denotations to encode spatial cognition, and further notes that spatial expressions should be interpreted not as locating an event/state as a whole but as locating arguments/participants of the event. The ways of locating events/states are identified in terms of argument orientation(AO), Which indicates semantic patterns of linkiarticipant location. and shows that natural langrage uses ng locatives to specific arguments. Four patterns of argument orientation described here reveal substantial modes of spatial cognition. and the AO patterns are mostly determined by the semantic classes of English verbs combining with locative expressions, i.e., by the event type of the predicate. As for the denotational constraint of locatives, the paper concludes that semantic denotations of locative PPs are restricted to the intersecting functions mapping relations to relations.

  • This paper proposes a method of implementing synthetic stereo and an acoustic echo cancellation algorithm for multiple participant conference system. Synthetic stereo is generated by HRTF and two loudspeakers. A robust adaptive algorithm for synthetic stereo echo cancellation is proposed to reduce the weight misalignment due to near-end speech signals and ambient noises. The proposed adaptive algorithm is modified version of SMAP algorithm and the coefficients of adaptive filter is updated with cross correlation of input and estimation error signal normalized with sum of the autocorrelation of input signal and the power of the estimation error signal multiplied with projection order. This is more robust to projection order and ambient noise than conventional SMAP. Computer simulation show that the proposed algorithm effectively attenuates synthetic stereo acoustic echo.

  • Background: The purpose of this study was to investigate into the effects of physical therapy intervention with local vibration on pain, ROM (range of motion) and psychological status in multiple trauma patients caused by traffic accident. Methods: A patient with multiple trauma were recruited. Before treatment, he was evaluated using numeric pain rating scale (NPRS), Korean-version impact of event scale-revised (IES-R-K), Beck Depression inventory (BDI), passive and active range of motion, and were reevaluated after 4 and 8 weeks of treatment. Results: As a result of comparing the participant before and after the experiment, the score of the IES-R-K and BDI decreased. And the passive and active ROM increased. Conclusion: According to the results above, physical intervention with local vibration by Blackroll Releazer can help improve pain, physical function and psychological status. Also, physical intervention with Blackroll's Releazer technique was able to select interventions depending on the patient's conditional and the desired goal.

  • Based on the teleportation by quantum walk, a quantum secret sharing scheme with credible authentication is proposed. Using the Hash function and quantum local operation, combined with the two-step quantum walks circuit on the line, the identity authentication and the teleportation of the secret information in distribution phase are realized. Participants collaborate honestly to recover secret information based on particle measurement results, preventing untrusted agents and external attacks from obtaining useful information. Due to the application of quantum walk, the sender does not need to prepare the necessary entangled state in advance, simply encodes the information to be sent in the coin state, and applies the conditional shift operator between the coin space and the position space to produce the entangled state necessary for quantum teleportation. Security analysis shows that the protocol can effectively resist intercept/resend attacks, entanglement attacks, participant attacks, and impersonation attacks. In addition, the quantum walk circuit used has been implemented in many different physical systems and experiments, so this quantum secret sharing scheme may be achievable in the future.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the characteristics of a teacher's questions in each context of musical activity by analyzing those questions in kindergarten music activity qualitatively. The participant in research was a teacher in charge of the class of children aged 7. Analysis was carried out on the data collected for 3 months through participation observance note, recording material, interview material and weekly plan. As a result, the teacher's questions were leaned upon the convergent questions to confirm the reflection of information and the understanding of function in singing and performing activity. On the other hand, the teacher's questions were leaned upon the diffusive questions for the thought of integration of information in composition activity and upon the diffusive questions for representing feeling or image with no relation to musical meaning in appreciation activity. However, the teacher's questions for control were conducted together with one of the questions, the question mentioned ahead. The tacit control question in singing and performing activity and the explicit control question in composition activity were conducted together, and in appreciation activity, the simple questions to lead the class, though not with the purpose to control attention, was conducted together.

  • The present study aimed to determine the test-retest reliability of subjective visual horizontal (SVH) testing when tested with solid and dotted line images. In this repeated measures study, 36 healthy young Malaysian adults (mean age=23.3±2.3 years, 17 males and 19 females) were enrolled. All of them were healthy and had no hearing, vestibular, balance, or vision problems. The SVH angles were recorded from each participant in an upright body position using a computerized device. They were asked to report their horizontality perception for solid and dotted line images (in the presence of a static black background). After 1 week, the SVH procedure was repeated. The test-retest reliability of SVH was found to be good for both solid line [intraclass correlation (ICC)=0.80] and dotted line (ICC=0.78). As revealed by Bland-Altman plots, for each visual image, the agreements of SVH between the two sessions were within the clinically accepted criteria (±2°). The SVH testing was found to be temporally reliable, which can be clinically beneficial. Both solid and dotted lines in the SVH testing are reliable to be used among young adults.

  • Rural spaces are experiencing an increasing demand for novel functionalities and adaptations driven by technological advancements in agriculture and rural areas. This study aimed to investigate the public perception of rural spaces in the context of evolving agricultural technologies, specifically focusing on photovoltaic power generation, and the ensuing competition among various functions of rural spaces. A survey was conducted with a participant sample of 330, revealing that the majority of respondents prioritize agricultural production as the primary function of farmland. Furthermore, the survey results indicated that the installation of solar panels on farmland is perceived as a complex issue that affects multiple aspects, such as the landscape, local economy, ecological environment, climate change, and income. Additionally, disparities in responses to landscape-related questions were observed based on age, perception of agricultural land functions, and opinions on technological adoption. This finding suggests that the landscape is poised to become a significant factor in future agricultural and rural transformations. The findings of this survey can provide valuable contributions to the preparation of changes catalyzed by advancements in agricultural technology. Moreover, they offer guidance on the key factors that need to be taken into account when introducing new functions to rural spaces.

  • Purpose : The aims of this study was to identify the activation of the mirror neuron system during action observation in people with stroke and the difference between left hemisphere and right hemisphere and to provide possibility of the use of action observation as a clinical method for improving motor function after stroke. Methods : Seventeen participants were asked to observe 3 different stimulation conditions for 80 seconds. A 30 second rest period was given between stimulations. Electroencephalogram(EEG) signals from electrodes on the participant's scalp were recorded during action observation. The activation of the mirror neuron system(MNS) between the picture observation condition and action observation condition was compared with a paired t-test. An independent t-test was used to compare difference between C3 and C4 on the activation of the mirror neuron system in the action observation condition. Results : Result of paired t-test showed a significantly decreased log ratio in the activation of the mirror neuron system in the action observation condition compared to the picture observation condition. Result of the independent t-test indicated no significant differences in the activation of the mirror neuron system in the right and left hemisphere. Conclusion : The mirror neuron system showed greater activation in the action observation condition than in the picture observation condition and activation in the both hemisphere during action observation. We conclude that these findings suggest that this may possibly be an efficient clinical intervention method for improving motor function.
