A Soft switching method for Loss reduction of Inverter (인버터의 손실저감을 위한 소프트 스위칭기법)

  • A large number of soft switching topologies included a resonant circuit have been proposed. But these circuits increase number of switch in circuit and complicate sequence of switching operation. In this Paper, the authors propose power conversion system, DC-AC inverter of high efficiency and high power factor with soft switching mode by partial resonant method. The result is that the switching loss is very low and the efficiency of system is high. And the snubber condenser used in partial resonant circuit makes charging energy regenerated at input power source for resonant operation.

  • Power conversion system must be increased switching frequency in order to achieve a small size, a light weight and a low noise. However, the switches of converter are subjected to high switching power losses and switching stresses. As a result of those, the power system brings on a low efficiency. To improved these, a large number of soft switching topologies included a resonant circuit has been prosed. But these circuits increase number of switch in circuit and complicate sequence of switching operation. In this paper, the authors propose a high power factor and high efficiency DC-DC converter using single-pulse soft switching by partial resonant switching node. The switching devices in a prosed circuit are operated with soft switching by the partial resonant method, that is, Partial Resonant Switch Mode Power Converter. The partial resonant circuit makes use of a inductor using step up and a condenser of loss-less snubber. The result is that the switching loss is very low and the efficiency of system is high. Also the proposed converter is deemed the most suitable for high power applications where the power switching devices are used. Some simulative results on computer results are included to confirm the validity of the analytical results.

  • In the buck-boost DC-DC chopper which is used at a certain situation such as in factories where loads often change a lot, the switches in the device make big energy loss in operating at Buck-Boost Mode due to hard switching and are affected by lots of stresses which decrease the efficiency rate of the converter. In order to improve this problem, to decrease the loss of snubber and switching, it has been investigated that zero voltage switching mode and zero current switching mode which make the operation of switches with soft switching. For the more sophisticated and advanced device, this paper is presented the Partial Resonant Soft Switching Mode Power Converter which is adapted the power converter having the partial resonant soft switching mode, that makes switches operate when the resonant current or voltage becomes zero by making the resonant circuit partially at turning on and off of the switches with suitable layout of the resonant elements and switch elements in the converter. Also, this paper includes the analysis and simulation of the Partial Resonant type Buck-Boost Chopper.

  • This paper proposed a partial resonant switching three-phase high power factor converter using a $PRS^2$(Partial Resonant Soft Switch). The proposed converter has a merit of simple controlled circuit because the input current control DCM(Discontinuous Conduction Mode). And it is improve to input power factor that the snubber capacitor's energy regenerate to the AC source side. This topology is reduced a current/voltage stresses of resonant devices in addition to a partial resonant strategy. The result of simulations with the proposed topology included in this paper.

  • This paper describes Trans-less type utility interactive system that is combined with buck/boost chopper applying partial resonant method, which remove Trans, and high efficient PWM inverter. Therefore, it is possible to make it lightweight, to cut down the cost, and to improve its reliability. What the merits of this system are that we con transmit arbitrary power to load and utility regardless of generating voltage magnitude and we can always obtain high factor controlling by equal phase signal with utility.

  • Recently, DC-DC choppers must be increased switching frequency in order to achieve a small size, a light weight and a low noise. However, the switches of chopper are subjected to high switching power losses and switching stresses. As a result of these, the chopper system bring on a low power efficiency. To improved these, this paper is studied on a new DC-DC chopper of high efficiency operated with soft switching(that is, zero current switching and zero voltage switching, ZVCS), of semiconductor switches using in chopper. The soft switching operation is applied to a partial resonant method that the switches operate at zero current of inductor and zero voltage of capacitor in resonant circuit. And the partial resonant circuit makes use of a inductor using step-up and a snubber capacitor, the circuit topology of chopper is simple. Some simulative results on computer and experimental results confirm the validity of analytical results of the DC-DC chopper.

To improve these, a large number of soft switching topologies included a resonant circuit have been proposed.   • An analytical model for the lateral vibration of beams with a bonded lap joint and partial layered dampers has been proposed in this paper. Both shear and normal forces acting along the interface between the elastic and viscoelastic layers were considered in the vibration analysis. Analytical results were compared with those obtained by a finite element method. Effects of the size and location of layers in partial dampers on system loss factor($\eta_s$) and resonant frequency($\omega_r$) were studied. which showed that partial dampers adhered to the site exhibiting the maximum amplitude of vibration were most influential in the increase of $\eta_s$ and the decrease of $\omega_r$. Specific system loss factor( $\eta_s$ divided by total mass of system) was also evaluated in the analysis.

However, the switches of converter are subject to high switching power losses and switching stresses. As a result, the power system has a lower efficiency. In this paper, the authors propose an AC-DC boost converter of high efficiency by partial resonant switching mode. The switching devices in the proposed circuit are operated with soft switching and the control technique of those is simplified for switch to drive in constant duty cycle. The partial resonant circuit makes use of a inductor using step up and a condenser of loss-less snubber. Besides, by regenerating energy, that is charged in a loss less snubber condenser of a snubber adopted to a common circuit, toward an input source part, this circuit can get increased efficiency. as merit. The result is that the switching loss is very low, the efficiency and power factor of system is high. The proposed converter is deemed the most suitable for high power applications where the power switching devices are used.

  • This paper dealt with the measurement and analysis of electromagnetic waves generated by partial discharges in insulation oil to develop insulation diagnostic techniques for power transformer. Two types of narrow-band monopole antennas with the resonant frequency of 500 MHz and 1 GHz were designed and fabricated. We simulated defects which consist of a needle electrode with curvature radius of 10 ${\mu}m$ and a plane electrode with diameter of 60 mm in insulation oil. From the experiment, the maximum output voltage of the fabricated antennas was measured; 620 $mV_{max}$ for 500 MHz resonant frequency and 920 $mV_{max}$ for 1 GHz resonant frequency.
