  • The method of vibration analysis used is the one developed by the senior author. He developed and reported, in 1974, a simple but exact method of calculating the natural frequency of beam and tower structures with irregular cross-sections and attached mass/masses. Since 1989, this method has been extended to two-dimensional problems with several types of given conditions and has been reported at several international conferences. This method uses the deflection influence surfaces. The finite difference method is used for this purpose, in this paper. In order to reduce the pivotal points required, the three simultaneous partial differential equations of equilibrium with three dependent variables, w, M$_{x}$, and $M_{y}$, are used instead of the one forth order partial differential equation. By neglecting the M$_{x}$ terms, the size of the matrices needed to solve the resulting linear equations are reduced to two thirds of the "non-modified" equations.tions.

  • A steam turbine is one of propulsion systems of a LNG carrier, which consists of high pressure (HP) and low pressure (LP) turbines. In order to obtain high power, each one has the form of a multi-stage turbine. Especially, the first stage of a HP turbine is Curtis stage and uses partial admission considering the turbine efficiency. The performance of a HP turbine can be predicted by a mean-line analysis method, because the relatively large value of hub-tip ratio makes the three-dimensional losses small. In this study, a performance analysis method is developed for a multi-stage HP turbine using Chen's loss model developed for the transonic steam turbines. To consider the feature of partial admission, different partial admission models are reviewed, This analysis method can be used in partial load conditions as well as full load condition. The calculation results are also compared with the CFD results about some simple cases to check the accuracy of the program. Performance of two HP turbine models are calculated, and the calculation results are compared with the designed data. The comparison shows the qualitative performance analysis result.

  • In this paper, a simple method to design an MIMO sound field control system was proposed. The control system was designed to achieve 1) noise attenuation and 2) sound equalization by utilizing feedback and feedforward controllers. The method was based on partial model matching on frequency domain which only required measured frequency response data, or impulse response data in order to tune parameters of the controller. The proposed method was applied to a normal office room and results of experiment showed effectiveness of the proposed method.

For wavelet transform, Daubechies filter is used, we can obtain wavelet coefficients which is used to extract feature of statistical parameters (maximum value, average value, dispersion, skewness, kurtosis) about high frequency current signal per 3-electrode type (needle-plane electrode, IEC electrode and Void electrode.). Also. these coefficients are used to identify Signal of internal partial discharge in transformer. As a result. from compare of high frequency current signal amplitude and average value. we are obtained results of IEC electrode> Void electrode> Needle-Plane electrode. otherwise. In case of skewness and kurtosis, we are obtained results of Void electrode> IEC electrode > Needle-Plane electrode. • An exact dynamic analytical method for free vibrations of continuous partial-interaction composite beams is proposed based on the Timoshenko beam theory. The main advantage of this method is that the independent shear deformations and rotary inertia of sub-beams are considered, which is more in line with the reality. Therefore, the accuracy of eigenfrequencies obtained by this method is significantly improved, especially for higher order modes, compared to the existing methods where the rotary angles of both sub-beams are assumed to be equal irrespective of the differences in the shear stiffness of each sub-beam. Furthermore, the solutions obtained by the proposed method are exact owing to no introduction of approximated displacement and force fields in the derivation. In addition, an exact analytical solution for the case of simply supported is obtained. Based on this, an approximate expression for the fundamental frequency of continuous partial-interaction composite beams is also proposed, which is useful for practical engineering applications. Finally, the practicability and effectiveness of the proposed method and the approximate expression are explored using numerical and experimental examples; The influence factors including the interfacial interaction, shear modulus ratio, span-to-depth ratio, and side-to-main span length ratio on the eigenfrequencies are presented and discussed in detail.

  • In this paper, we consider the delay partial differential equation of three dimensions with constant coefficients. We established the alternating direction difference scheme by the standard finite difference method, gave the order of convergence of the format and the expression of the difference scheme truncation errors.

  • A reliability model of Level II AFDA is developed to analyze the stability of armor units on the sloped coastal structures. Additionally, the partial safety factors of random variables related to armor units can be straightforwardly evaluated by applying the inverse-reliability method in which influence coefficients and uncertainties of random variables, and target probability of failure are combined directly. In particular, a design equation for armor units is derived in terms of the same criteria as deterministic design method in order to apply the reliability-based design method of Level I without some understanding to the reliability analysis. Finally, it is confirmed that several results redesigned by the reliability-based design method of Level I have satisfactorily agreement with results of CEM as well as those of Level II AFDA.

  • This paper presents the detection method of partial discharge in metal clad switchgear(MCS) using electromagnetic technique. Two antennas are located in the inside and outside of the MCS, and electromagnetic waves detected by these antennas are analyzed and compared by FFT method in order to identify an insulation abnormality. As a result of the experiment by the proposed method, we show the detection possibility for partial discharge in the MCS. The proposed method is expected to apply to insulation condition observation and an accident prevention in the MCS effectively.

  • This paper represents a design method for PID or low-order controllers cascaded with a linear plant in the unit feedback system where it is required to meet the given time response specifications such as overshoot and settling time. This problem is difficult to solve because the zeros of the controller appear in the numerator of the overall system and thus those zeros may make the time response design difficult. In this paper, we propose a new approach based on the partial model matching and the so called K-polynomial. The partial matching problem is formulated to an optimization problem in which a quadratic function of coefficient errors between a target model and the resulting closed loop system is minimized. For the sake of satisfying the closed loop stability, a set of quadratic constraints associated with the cost function is introduced. As a result, the controller designed meets both time response requirements and the closed loop stability, if any. It is shown through several examples that the present method can be easily applied to these problems.
