Mediating Role of Liquidity Policy on the Corporate Governance-Performance Link: Evidence from Pakistan

  • Based on the theoretical underpinnings of the agency theory and liquidity theory, the purpose of this study is to show how managers who want to enhance the performance of Pakistan's non-financial sector can use liquidity policy in relation to corporate governance. Nowadays, Pakistan is facing a severe liquidity crisis; this study contributes by examining the mediating role of liquidity on the link of corporate governance-performance. We use data from 63 firms from 2010 to 2018, excluding 17 outliers. To analyze the data, we use the Seemingly Unrelated Regression (SURE) model and nlcom-Stata test. Our findings support the mediating role of liquidity on the link between corporate governance and performance. In addition, the results show that corporate governance improves performance. Furthermore, the study supports a significant positive association of liquidity and performance. For robustness, we use two performance variables - return on assets (ROA) and Tobin's q (TQ) - where ROA represents full mediation and TQ indicates partial mediation. This study helps to use liquidity policy to strengthen the inside and outside dimensions of corporate governance mechanisms that improve the performance of firms. Overall, these findings suggest better disclosure, transparency, and solutions to auditing issues that add value to the firms.

매개 모형을 통하여 고찰한 우울과 주의력결핍 과잉행동장애, 인터넷 게임장애 사이의 관계 (The Relationship between Depression, Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, and Internet Gaming Disorder Through Mediation Model)

  • Objectives Internet gaming disorder (IGD) is associated with attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or depression etc. We tried to examine the mediating effects of depression in the relationship between ADHD and IGD. Methods This study was conducted on 2000 people who participated in on-line survey among 14-39 year-old men and women in 2017. And we clarified the relationship among IGD, ADHD, and depression and tested the mediation model. The mean and standard deviation of the main variables were calculated and correlation analysis was performed to confirm the relationship among the main variables. In order to test the mediating effect of depression on the relationship between ADHD and IGD, the structural equation model was implemented using AMOS 21 (IBM). Results There were significant correlations among the variables; IGD, ADHD and depression. Depression had a mediating effect 0.23 (95% confidence interval : 0.17-0.28) in the relationship between IGD and ADHD. Conclusions This study showed that depression can mediate ADHD and IGD. Therefore, the evaluation and management of depression and ADHD should be included in the diagnosis and treatment of IGD.

간호사가 경험한 언어폭력이 조직몰입에 미치는 영향: 회복탄력성의 매개효과 중심으로 (Influence of Verbal Violence Experienced by Nurses on Organizational Commitment: Focus on the Mediating Effects of Resilience)

  • Purpose: This study was conducted to provide fundamental data on increasing organizational commitment of clinical nurses by verifying the mediation effects of resilience in the correlation between the verbal violence experienced by nurses and their organizational commitment. Methods: Participants were 167 nurses working in 2 university hospitals and 3 general hospitals located in D city Nurse managers were excluded. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and multiple regression analysis based on the three-step mediation effect verification procedures proposed by Baron and Kenny. SPSS 24.0 program was used. The significance of mediation effect was verified by performing the Sobel test. Results: The resilience was confirmed to have a partial mediating effect in the relationship between verbal violence experience and organizational commitment (β=.25, p=.001), and verified by Sobel test (Z=-1.95, p=.026). Conclusion: The results verifiying that verbal violence experience, organizational commitment, and resilience are correlated with each other, and showing that the organizational culture needs to be improved and the hospital environment needs to be changed to decrease verbal violence experiences and increase resilience in order to enhance organizational commitment.

The Distribution Industry's Social Responsibility and Ethics Management: Effects on Corporate Trust and Loyalty

  • Purpose - This study aims to explore the effects of social responsibility activities and business ethics practices on corporate trust and loyalty in the context of a large retail distribution business. Research design, data, and methodology - The data collected was analyzed using PASW Statistics 18.0. In order to verify the demographic characteristics, frequency analysis was conducted on the data. Results - The results of the study were as follows. First, social responsibility activities had a significant effect on corporate trust. Second, both corporate social responsibility activities and business ethics practices had significant effects on loyalty. Third, corporate trust had a significant effect on loyalty. Fourth, corporate social responsibility activities and consumer protection activities had a partial mediation effect, while environmental protection activities and social contribution activities had complete mediation effects. Conclusions - This study clarified and explained the factors of corporate social responsibility activities and business ethics practices that customers value, and analyzed the influence of these factors on corporate trust and loyalty.

통원치료 중인 뇌병변 장애노인의 생활스트레스, 가족지원, 우울간의 관계성 검증 (Examining the Relationship between Depression, Daily Hassles, and Family Support among Elderly Cerebral Vascular Accident Outpatients)

  • Depression has a direct relationship with lower quality of life for elderly with cerebral vascular accidents(CVA). Daily hassles worsen depression for elderly with CVA disability and thus an effective intervention is necessary. This research examined the direct influence of daily hassles on depression and the mediation effect of family support among 161 elderly with CVA disability living in Seoul using Structural Equation Modeling. The direct effect of daily hassles on depression was statistically significant (p < .001) while family support was shown to be a mediator between daily hassles and depression. The mediation model of family support was examined using $x^2$ difference and Soble test. As a result, family support was proven to be a partial mediator. Implications are discussed.

  • This study investigated the mediating effect of engineering design self-efficacy on the relationship between self-leadership and perceived team creativity. Participants were 110 engineering college students pursuing team projects. Engineering design self-efficacy showed complete mediation effects on the relationships between perceived team creativity and self-reward and evaluating beliefs and assumptions. Partial mediation effect of engineering design self-efficacy was found on the relationship between perceived team creativity and natural reward. Finally, limitations of this study and suggestions for future studies were discussed.

기혼근로자의 직무스트레스와 직장-가정갈등이 우울에 미치는 영향 (The Impact of Married Worker's Job Stress and Work-Family Conflict on Depression)

  • The purpose of this research is to verify the impact of job stress on depression among married workers and to examine mediation effect of work-family conflict between the two variables. 356 married workers in Seoul and Gyonggi Province were selected to analyze. The results indicate that job stress was statistically influential on depression and work-family conflict. And job stress implied the partial mediation effect of work-family conflict, with both direct and indirect impacts on depression. These findings indicated that maltreatment of job stress and workfamily conflict would negatively impact on depression. Therefore, work organizations must launch and activate EAP(employee assistance programs) or family friendly welfare programs in order to increase the overall mental health of the employees.

실과(기술·가정) 교사의 실천적 교수역량, 이론적 교수역량과 교수효능감의 관련성 분석 (The Relationship among Practical Teaching Competence, Theoretical Teaching Competence, and Teaching Efficacy of Practical Arts (Technology and Home Economics Education) Teachers)

  • This study examined the association among practical teaching competence (PTC) and teaching efficacy (TE), and explored the mediation effects of theoretical teaching competence (TTC) between the PTC and TE of Practical Arts (Technology and Home Economics Education) teachers. Data were collected from the 301 survey responses completed by elementary, middle, and high school teachers. All teachers showed high levels of PTC, TTC, and TE. Elementary school teachers perceived higher PTC than middle and high school teachers. PTC, TTC, TE showed significant effect in regards to teacher's age and teaching career. Using multiple regression analysis, this study found that TTC fully mediated PTC and TE of elementary school teachers. For middle and high school teachers, there was a partial mediation effect of TTC in the relationship between PTC and TE. This study suggests that teacher education programs should develop a program that can enhance teaching efficacy by cultivating TTC and support teachers who want to strengthen competence, and more practical opportunities to practice teaching.

청소년의 리더십생활기술을 매개로 자원봉사활동이 민주시민의식에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Volunteering Activity on Democratic Citizen Consciousness as a Mediation of Adolescents' Leadership Living Technique)

  • 본 연구는 청소년의 민주시민의식을 고취시키기 위해 구조방정식을 적용하여 분석하였다. 즉, 청소년의 리더십생활기술을 매개로 자원봉사활동이 민주시민의식에 미치는 영향을 살펴보았다. 이를 위해 충청북도에 위치한 중 고등학교 학생 386명을 대상으로 설문조사 하였다. 주요분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 민주시민의식에 미치는 영향을 살펴보면, 자원봉사참여 만족도(${\beta}=.215$), 학습능력기술(${\beta}=.297$), 집단활동기술(${\beta}=.145$)이 정적(+)인 영향을 미치는 것으로 분석되었다. 둘째, 매개효과 분석결과, 자원봉사활동이 민주시민의식에 직접효과(.35)와 리더십생활기술을 매개로 간접효과($.42{\times}.65=.29$)가 모두 유의미한 것으로 확인되어 부분매개효과로 나타났다. 그러므로 청소년의 민주시민의식을 향상시키기 위해서 자원봉사 활동의 적극적 지원과 함께 청소년의 일상생활 속에서 리더십 기능을 수행할 수 있는 종합적인 노력이 필요하다.

대학생이 인식하는 가족주의가 노화불안과 노인연령집단 태도에 미치는 영향 : 효 의식의 매개효과 (The Effect that Familism Recognized by College Students have on Anxiety Over Aaging and Elderly Group's Attitude: Mediation Effect of a Sense of Filial Duty)

  • 본 연구는 대학생이 인식하는 가족주의가 노화불안과 노인연령집단 태도에 미치는 영향과 효 의식의 매개효과를 검증하는 것이다. 연구의 분석을 위해 경기도 성남, 안양, 인천, 그리고 서울에 소재한 대학교에 재학 중인 대학생 200명을 대상으로 구조화된 설문지를 사용하여 2016년 5월 2일부터 6월 28일 까지 설문 조사하여 불완전 응답 34부를 제외한 166부를 분석에 사용하였다. 분석결과 첫째, 가족주의, 노화불안, 노인 연령집단 태도, 효 의식 변인 간의 상관관계를 확인하였으며, 변인간의 다중공선성은 VIF 값의 수치를 사용하여 확인하였다. 둘째, 대학생이 인식하는 가족주의가 노화불안, 노인연령집단 태도에 미치는 영향을 확인하였다. 셋째, 대학생이 인식하는 가족주의가 노화불안에 미치는 영향에서 효의식의 부분매개효과를 확인하였다. 또한 매개효과 유의성 확인을 위해 Sobel이 제안한 Sobel Test를 실시하였다. 본 연구는 고령화 사회의 대학생이 인식하는 가족주의가 노화불안에 미치는 영향에서 효 의식의 매개효과 검증을 토대로 핵가족 고령화 사회의 대학생과 노인세대 간의 가족주의 및 효 의식의 함양과 미래에 야기되는 대학생의 노화불안 감소를 위한 사회복지개입실천의 필요성을 제언하였다.
