This paper deals with the improvement of indefiniteness in PRPDA(Phase Resolved Partial Discharge Analysis) through analyzing the relation between PRPDA and PSA(Pulse Sequence Analysis). For the analysis we adopted PD data from artificial defects in XLPE HV cable systems and performed PRPDA and PSA. As a results, we confirmed that PSA was more useful than PRPDA in classifying PD patterns with the degradation stages. Therefore, it is possible to improve the indefiniteness of PD pattern recognition using the relation between PRPDA and PSA.
Partial Discharge is radiated in the form of electromagnetic wave from variable sources. It can be taken by UHF antenna and the signal pulse from that has a nonstationary time-series which can be evaluated with several methods. One of them is STFT(short time fourier transform) processed in frequency region. Statistical results using STFT show the possibility being able to discriminate between several PD sources.

The low-voltage induction motors have been widely driven by IGBT PWM inverters, ever since it was used to apply variable speed drives. Recently, the insulation failures of the stator windings become critical problems due to the high ratio of dv/dt in IGBT PWM inverters. In this paper, the detailed insulation tests on the IGBT PWM inverter fed induction motor are carried out. Five different types of insulation techniques are used to ti induction motors. The change of the insulation characteristics such as partial discharge, AC current, capacitance, and dissipation factor are compared. respectively In addition, insulation breakdown tests using the high voltage pulse are performed, and corresponding breakdown voltages are analyzed.

This paper describes the method of diagnosing the degradation by void defects of insulator inside in operation. Needle-shape void specimens, made from LDPE, were used to generate an electrical tree under ac voltage. The method uses a neural network system with input signal of AE patterns. AE pattern consists of the pulse count and average amplitude according to the phase angle. After the learning process was over, unknown emission patterns were put into the network. It was shown that the network discriminates the void deflects well. The effectiveness of the neural network system for partial discharge recognition was shown.
It is very difficult and dangerous to measure partial discharge from high voltage equipment in outdoor situation. But that is very important thing for preventing serious accidents from defects which originated in insulating degradation. This paper provides useful method to detect PD signals easily without any dangerous situation. Electric field sensor by the principle of capacitor detect PD signals without direct electrical connection between sensor and high power equipment and has very wide frequency range suitable for noise rejection. Electric field sensor and related circuit for processing PD signal showed good performance as a PD sensor when it is applied to simulated high power equipment generating PD pulse.
ERA PD measuring system has been using for partial discharge evaluation of power appratus in test laboratories. So, the measurement uncertainty of PD measuring system (ERA), such as PD pulse calibrator rise and fall time, sacle factor(k) and linearity, transfer impedance etc, is very important factor of test result in test laboratory. In this paper, we describe tracebility and uncertainty improvement of PD measuring system in test laboratory based on IEC 60270.

Electrode systems: a protrusion on conductor (POC), a protrusion on enclosure (POE), a crack in epoxy plate and a free particle (FP) were fabricated to simulate insulation defects in a gas insulated switchgear (GIS). $SF_6$ gas was filled in the electrode systems by 3 bar and/or 5 bar, respectively. Partial discharge (PD) pulses were detected through a $50{\Omega}$ non-inductive resistor. A calibration test was carried out according to IEC 60270, and the sensitivity was 0.25 pC/mV. PD pulses were distributed in the phase of $50^{\circ}{\sim}135^{\circ}$ and over 95% of them existed in the phase of $55^{\circ}{\sim}120^{\circ}$ for the POC. PD pulses were distributed in the phase of $230^{\circ}{\sim}310^{\circ}$ and over 90% of them existed in phase of $220^{\circ}{\sim}300^{\circ}$ for the POE. PD pulses occurred in the phase of $40^{\circ}{\sim}60^{\circ}$ and $220^{\circ}{\sim}300^{\circ}$ for the crack, and pulse counts were 25% higher in negative polarity than in positive polarity. PD pulses were distributed in every phase unlike to other three electrode systems and the peak magnitude was measured at $118^{\circ}$ and $260^{\circ}$ for the FP. As described above, PD pulses were observed in positive polarity for the POC, in negative one for the POE, in both one for the crack and the FP. In conclusion, it is expected that the identification rate of defect type can be improved by considering the polarity ratio of PD pulses on the PRPDA method.

Because of internal voids in insulators give rise to partial discharge (PD), which cause local breakdown and even entire insulation breakdown. Treeing due to PD is one of the main causes of breakdown of the insulating materials and reduction of the insulation life. Therefore the necessity for establishing a method to diagnose the aging of insulation materials and to predict the breakdown of insulation has become important. From this viewpoint, our studies diagnose insulation degradation using the method of computer sensing system, which has the advantages of PD and acoustic emission (AE) sensing system. To use advantages of these two methods can be used effectively to search for treeing location and PD in some materials. In analysis method of degradation, We analyzed the PD pulse and AE pulses by regression analysis, compared to these obtained the correlation coefficient and determination coefficient by T-distribution and saw that PD and AE pulses show a similar pattern on the whole. This is in agreement with the results of the research by Yoshimura and Fujita.
