Pricing Path-Dependent Equity-Indexed Annuities

  • Sales of equity-indexed annuities (EIAs) have rapidly increased, but the growth rates in sales have recently shown signs of slowing down because the current volatile equity market increases the costs of guarantees in EIAs. New EIAs need to be designed that are similar to existing EIAs but have a cheaper guarantee and a higher participation rate. This paper proposes three types of EIAs with higher participation rates: up-and-in barrier EIA, aulual reset EIA with up-and-in barriers, and partial-time lookbackEIA. It also presents a probability distribution and the method of Esscher transforms, with which explicit pricing formulas for these EIAs are derived.

  • Power transformers have a tendency of ultra-high voltage and huge capacity as power demand increases day after day. Therefore, the fault by insulation destruction gives rise to large area of power failure in huge capacity transformers. On-line predictive diagnostics is very important In power transformers because of economic loss and its spreading effect. Hence, this study presents experiments of partial discharge method using ultrasonic sensor in order to confirm the possibility of ultrasonic sensor in power transformers. It carries out the experiments of measuring delay time between ultrasonic sensor and transducer, sensitiities by temperature change of oil and by barriers inside transformers. It is also Included wave analysis by ultrasonic sensor for needle-plate electrode powered on through high-voltage equipments.

소방공무원 의식과 처우개선에 관한 연구 (Consciousness of Fire Officers and Improving the Working Conditions)

  • 본 연구는 소방공무원의 직무여건 개선 등에 관한 의식을 조사, 합리적인 개선방안을 제시하기 위하여 수행되었다. 연구결과 한국의 소방공무원은 직업에 대한 보람과 긍지를 가지고 있는 반면에 근로시간, 근속승진, 정부포상, 해외연수 등 처우개선 분야에 있어서는 경찰 교정 철도직 등 유사직렬 근무자와 대비하여 대부분 내재적인 비교갈등을 안고 있어 이에 대한 개선대안 마련이 시급한 것으로 나타났다. 그러나 광역 지방자치단체별 지방 공무원 대비 소방공무원의 인력비율이 평균적으로 적게는 26.46%에서 많게는 64.06%에 이르고 있고 소방력기준과 행정자치부 소방공무원 정원 보강지침, 소방공무원 표준정원제 등의 상치와 한계 및 공무원 총액인건비제도의 시행으로 전면적인 3교대의 도입과 만족스러운 처우개선 마련이 곤란하여 일시에 근원적인 해결책이 마련될 수 있는 사안은 아니다. 따라서 일본 미국 등 선진국의 제도와 소방공무원의 직무 하중 등을 고려하여 근무시스템은 과다근무 부서 중심으로 우선적 3교대를 시행하되 기타 근속승진과 순번휴무제의 확대와 정부포상, 해외연수 등 각종 복지제도를 단계적으로 현실에 맞게 개선해 나감으로써 합리적이고도 적실성 있는 정책대안을 수립 시행함이 필요한 것으로 분석되었다.

중국소비자의 지속가능 패션 소비 결정요인 연구 - 계획된 행동이론을 중심으로 - (Determinants of Sustainable Fashion Consumption in China - Based on the Theory of Planned Behavior -)

  • In the context of Sustainable development, China, the world's second-largest apparel market, is also concerned about the environmental impact of fiber waste. Currently, there is a great interest in sustainable fashion in both supply and demand in China. Based on the theory of planned behavior(TPB), the determinants of sustainable fashion consumption(SFC) of Chinese consumers were evaluated in this study: man-nature orientation(MNO) and environmental knowledge(EK) as motivation and perceived online-store accessibility(POA) and perceived money availability(PMA) as barriers. Wenjuanxing, a Chinese professional survey collection agency, conducted an online survey of millennials in Shanghai, China. The final sample size for the survey was 215. Partial least squares structural equation modeling was employed to test the proposed hypotheses. The results indicated that attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control significantly affected the purchase intention towards sustainable fashion products. MNO and EK influenced the attitude, whereas EK, POA, and PMA influenced perceived behavioral control. This study contributes to the TPB literature through the examination of four antecedents: MNO, EK, POA, and PMA. The findings provide valuable insights for retailers and markets based on the identification of the motivations and barriers that enhance the purchasing intention of Chinese millennials toward SFC.

Theoretical Studies of the Gas-Phase Identity Nucleophilic Substitution Reactions of Cyclopentadienyl Halides

  • The gas phase identity nucleophilic substitution reactions of halide anions (X = F, Cl, Br) with cyclopentadienyl halides (1) are investigated at the B3LYP/6-311+G**, MP2/6-311+G** and G2(+)MP2 levels involving five reaction pathways: σ-attack $S_N2$, β-$S_N$2'-syn, β-$S_N$2'-anti, γ-$S_N$2'-syn and γ-$S_N$2'-anti paths. In addition, the halide exchange reactions at the saturated analogue, cyclopentyl halides (2), and the monohapto circumambulatory halide rearrangements in 1 are also studied at the same three levels of theory. In the σ-attack $S_N2$ transition state for 1 weak positive charge develops in the ring with X = F while negative charge develops with X = Cl and Br leading to a higher energy barrier with X = F but to lower energy barriers with X = Cl and Br than for the corresponding reactions of 2. The π-attack β-$S_N$2' transition states are stabilized by the strong $n_C-{\pi}^{*}_{C=C}$ charge transfer interactions, whereas the π-attack γ-$S_N$2' transition states are stabilized by the strong $n_C-{\sigma}^{*}_{C-X}$ interactions. For all types of reaction paths, the energy barriers are lower with X = F than Cl and Br due to the greater bond energy gain in the partial C-X bond formation with X = F. The β-$S_N$2' paths are favored over the γ-$S_N$2' paths only with X = F and the reverse holds with X = Cl and Br. The σ-attack $S_N2$ reaction provides the lowest energy barrier with X = Cl and Br, but that with X = F is the highest energy barrier path. Activation energies for the circumambulatory rearrangement processes are much higher (by more than 18 kcal $mol^{-1}$) than those for the corresponding $S_N2$ reaction path. Overall the gas-phase halide exchanges are predicted to proceed by the σ-attack $S_N2$ path with X = Cl and Br but by the β-$S_N$2'-anti path with X = F. The barriers to the gas-phase halide exchanges increase in the order X = F < Br < Cl, which is the same as that found for the gas-phase identity methyl transfer reactions.

  • 본 증례에서는 정신적 장애를 가진 환자들에게 임플란트를 이용한 보철 수복을 시행하였다. 이런 환자들에게 보철물의 형식은 고정성 보철물이나, 피개의치를 사용하였고, 임플란트의 실패나 보철물의 파절은 보이지 않았다. 이런 환자들에서 구강을 청결히 유지하기 힘들기 때문에 적극적인 정기검진 및 치태 조절이 필요할 것으로 사료된다.

Sustainability MSMEs Performance and Income Distribution: Role of Intellectual Capital and Strategic Orientations

  • Purpose: Previous research has found that organizational performance pressures and barriers have an effect on the long-term viability of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Furthermore, MSMEs' intellectual capital and strategic orientation, according to recent research findings, have an impact on this. The goal of this study is to see how intellectual capital and strategic orientation affect MSMEs' performance. Research design, data and methodology: The performance of MSMEs is the dependent variable, with intellectual capital, market orientation, learning orientation, and technical orientation as independent factors. With a sample size of 113 respondents, this research focused on information technology-based MSMEs in Indonesia's Solo Raya area. Data was analyzed use Confirmatory Factor Analysis for the reliability test and path analysis SEM. Results: The interaction between intellectual capital and strategic orientation in respect to MSMEs' performance reveals that innovation capability serves as a partial mediator in the relationship between intellectual capital and technical orientation and organization performance. Conclusions: In general, intellectual capital and strategic orientation have a positive substantial influence on innovation, according to the findings. Furthermore, they have a considerable favorable influence on the performance of MSMEs. It's just that intellectual capital has no discernible impact on knowledge sharing.

Factors influencing consumers' continuance intention in online grocery shopping: a cross-sectional study using application behavior reasoning theory

  • Objectives: Online grocery shopping has gained traction with the digital transformation of retail. This study constructs a behavioral model combining values, attitudes, and reasons for behavior-specifically, facilitators and resistance-to provide a more novel discussion and further understand the relative influences of the various factors affecting continuance intention in online grocery shopping. Methods: Data were collected through an online questionnaire from consumers who had engaged in online grocery shopping during the past month in Seoul, Korea. All collected data were analyzed using descriptive analysis, and model validation was performed using partial least squares structural equation modeling. Results: Continuance intention is primarily driven by facilitative factors (compatibility, relative advantage, and ubiquity). Attitude can also positively influence continuance intention. Although resistance factors (price, tradition, and risk) do not significantly affect continuance intention, they negatively affect attitude. Values significantly influence consumers' reasoning processes but not their attitude. Conclusions: These findings explain the key influences on consumers' online grocery shopping behavior in Seoul and provide additional discussion and literature on consumer behavior and market management. To expand the online grocery market, consumers should be made aware of the potential benefits of the online channel; the barriers they encounter should be reduced. This will help sustain online grocery shopping behavior. Furthermore, its positive impact on attitude will further strengthen consumers' continuance intention.

대학생의 데이트 폭력 관련 전문적 도움추구 태도 영향 요인 (Explorations of Dating Violence Related Factors that Affect Professional Help-Seeking Attitudes of College Students)

  • 본 연구는 최근 데이트폭력의 심각성이 부각되고 있는 추세에 부합하여 대학생의 데이트폭력 인식을 포함한 다양한 영향 요인과 전문적 도움추구 태도와의 관계를 통합적으로 탐색하고 그 상대적 설명력의 크기를 살펴보는 것을 목적으로 하였다. 충청권 소재 1개 대학교의 508명의 대학생이 자기보고식 질문지에 응답하였고 수집된 자료는 SPSS 22.0을 사용하여 상관관계 및 회귀분석을 하였다. 연구 결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 심리적 불편감 노출 및 상담에 대한 유용성기대는 전문적 도움추구 태도와 정적 상관관계를 보였고, 연인 간의 비합리적 폭력인식과 지각된 사회적지지, 상담에 대한 위험기대, 및 도움 요청 장애 요인은 전문적 도움추구 태도와 부적 관계로 나타났다. 위 변인들의 총 설명량은 46.1% 으로 상담에 대한 유용성기대가 가장 큰 설명력을 지니고 위험기대와 도움요청 장애요인이 그 다음으로 큰 설명력을 가지는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 데이트폭력 연구 주제의 확장 및 대학생의 전문적 도움 서비스 활용 활성화를 위한 방향성 제시를 했다는 의의를 지닌다.

산소 농도에 따른 Alloy 617의 고온헬륨환경에서의 크립 및 산화거동 (Creep and Oxidation Behaviors of Alloy 617 in High Temperature Helium Environments with Various Oxygen Concentrations)

  • Wrought nickel-base superalloys are being considered as the structural materials in very-high temperature gas-cooled reactors. To understand the effects of impurities, especially oxygen, in helium coolant on the mechanical properties of Alloy 617, creep tests were performed in high temperature flowing He environments with varying $O_2$ contents at 800, 900, and $1000^{\circ}C$. Also, creep life in static He was measured to simulate the pseudo-inert environment. Creep life was the longest in static He, while the shortest in flowing helium. In static He, impurities like $O_2$ and moisture were quickly consumed by oxidation in the early stage of creep test, which prevented further oxidation during creep test. Without oxidation, microstructural change detrimental to creep such as decarburization and internal oxidation were prevented, which resulted in longer creep life. On the other hand, in flowing He environment, surface oxides were not stable enough to act as diffusion barriers for oxidation. Therefore, extensive decarburization and internal oxidation under tensile load contributed to premature failure resulting in short creep life. Limited test in flowing He+200ppm $O_2$ resulted in even shorter creep life. The oxidation samples showed extensive spallation which resulted in severe decarburization and internal oxidation in those environments. Further test and analysis are underway to clarify the relationship between oxidation and creep resistance.
