This study aims to develop sound ecosystem of scanned cartoons and books through the effective identification technology developed as a part of the project granted from the Korea Copyright Commission (Project title: Identification and Copy Protection Technology of Scanned Text/Comic Books). This study shows a model integrating the scanned book identification system with the existing system that identifies scanned cartoons. The model suggested in this study is expected to give a help in reducing the author's damages due to the indiscriminate illegal reproduction, which tends to expand with high quality scanners and editing softwares.

In this paper, we designed a demodulator using proposed synchronization techniques and algorithms for high-speed ATM satellite burst modem, and analyzed various performance in the AWGN channel. In addition, as the preamble progressed, each synchronization process can be analyzed by using the mean and variance characteristics, and the convergence state and operation state using convergence probability can also be determined. In conclusion, we analyzed the Cell Loss Ratio(CLR) by integrating the burst acquisition with Unique Word(UW) detector performance, and verified that proposed TDMA receiver satisfied the generally required CLR performance adequately.

The virtual power plant (VPP) is a new technology to achieve flexibility as well as controllability, like traditional centralized power plants, by integrating and operating different types of distributed energy resources (DER) with the information communication technology (ICT). Though small-sized DERs may not be controlled in a centralized manner, these are more likely to be utilized as power plants for centralized dispatch and participate in the energy trade given that these are integrated into a unified generation profile and certain technical properties such as dispatch schedules, ramp rates, voltage control, and reserves are explicitly implemented. Unfortunately, the VPP has been in a conceptual stage thus far and its common definition has not yet been established. Such a lack of obvious guidelines for VPP may lead to a further challenge of coming up with the business model and reinforcing the investment and technical support for VPP. In this context, this paper would aim to identify the definition of VPP as a critical factor in smart grid and, at the same time, discuss the details required for VPP to actively take part in the electricity market under the smart grid paradigm.

This paper constructs ERD thesaurus that is storing information about Entity Relationship Diagram(ERD), and proposes an ERD thesaurus-based methodology for view integration in an important conceptual design step in designing databases. To show the usefulness of proposed methodology, the prototype for view integration support system is implemented for the applied case. As a result, ERD thesaurus-based methodology is more effective than the existing methodologies for view Integration in the aspects of affinity analysis, semantic conflicts resolution, and view Integration processes. Therefore, our methodology is expected to be utilized in integrating the existing fragmented schema or designing a large database integration.

As AEC(architecture, engineering and construction) industry becomes larger and more complex, much information is going into each part and phase. Therefore, the existing building design process has to change and collaboration is emphasized among participants in various fields. The purpose of this study is to compare and analyze existing building design process and integrated building design process based on BIM using a IDEF0 methodology. And then, it establishes a desirable domestic integrated building design process application plan focusing on the design phase of domestic cases. As a result of analysis, flowing conclusions are included ; Firstly, problems occur on the existing building design process that are accomplished with focusing on the outcome. It makes much errors because of 2D-based information. Another problems is that collaboration doesn't go on smoothly. But, integrated building design process is accomplished with the collaboration and the coordination which pursues change and perfects cooperation. Secondly, BIM is a process of effecting optimum integrating, re-using information, and expense reduction throughout the life-cycle of a building. Moreover, it establishes a basis for the integrated building design process to build a collaboration system.

The integration and union of regional digital map and vehicle location data in e-Logistics which means virtual service architecture based on the Internet among the logistics companies is indispensable clause in order to satisfy the visibility characteristics. Most conventional vehicle monitoring and controlling systems were constructed with individual and mutual exclusive architecture so that there are required lots of cost for sharing and integrating the information among them. In this paper, we design and implement an component-based open system which represent moving object location information as well as digital map using the GML(Geography Markup Language - international standard encoding based on XML). We also test proposed system on the delivery vehicle scenario in e-Logistics environment, and validate its superior in terms of extensibility and interoperability.

In this paper,we propose a novel technoque of improving volume rendering quality and speed by integrating volume data and global shape information together. The selective volume rendering method is to generate distance transformed volume using a distance transform to determine the minimum distance to the neaest intercsting part and then render it. The shape information prevents from object occlusions come from similar intensity of each object. Thus it provides effective visual results that enable to get a clear understanding of complex structures. We show the results of selective volume rendering method for left ventricle and right ventricle ans well as the results of selective sampling methods depending on the interpolation from EBCT cardiac images. Our method offers an accelerated technique to accurately visuahze the surfaces of devined objects segmented from the volume.

The rural tourism in Korea is expanding in scope including experience tours and integrating with dining industry these days. The Rural Development Administration in Korea has been supporting the farm restaurant project across the nation as part of its efforts to utilize local or rural food recipes as tourism resource for seven years. Over the years, however, case studies are rarely done or reported regarding physical environment of farm restaurants. This study offers an opportunity for farm restaurateurs and policy makers related to recognize the importance of developing brand identity and inner culture contents for the rural community by presenting a case of integrated design marketing. In the study, definitions of the "authentic food" in Korea and other countries are compared before farm restaurants at home and abroad are investigated. It also addresses the foundation on the significance of physical environment and design to build a brand identity of authentic food. The case presented is naming, designing and developing logos and design applicable to various product packages for "Hwanggeum Bori Aechan", which is the barley (main crop in Gimje)- dish development project for Gimje, North Jeolla Province in 2012.

Digital image processing algorithm was proposed to measure the area inside of an object image using angle-distance graph used to analyze the pattern of an object in the digital image processing techniques. The first angle-distance graph is generated from a point inside of an object area. The second angle-distance graphs are generated for the areas missed in the first graph by extracting the positions with large gradient in the first angle-distance graph. The order of the graph increases according to the complexity of an object pattern. Size of the area inside of an object boundary is measured by integrating square of distance multiplied by angle for each area from the hierarchical angie-distance graphs.

Although insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I) and androgen receptor (AR) are well known effectors of skeletal muscle, the molecular mechanism by which signaling pathways integrating AR and IGF-I in skeletal muscle cells has not been previously examined. In this study, the role of PI3K/Akt on IGF-I-induced gene expression and activation of AR in skeletal muscle cells was investigated. C2C12 cells were treated with IGF-I in the absence or presence of inhibitors of PI3K/Akt pathway (LY294002 and Wortmannin). Inhibition of the PI3K/Akt pathway with LY294002 or Wortmannin led to a significant decrease in IGF-I-induced AR phosphorylation and total AR protein expression. Furthermore, IGF-I-induced AR mRNA and skeletal ${\alpha}-actin$ mRNA were blocked by LY294002 or Wortmannin. Confocal images showed that IGF-I-induced AR translocation from cytosol to nucleus was inhibited significantly in response to treatment with LY294002 or Wortmannin. The present results suggest that modulating effect of IGF-I on AR gene expression and activation in C2C12 mouse skeletal muscle cells is mediated at least in part by the PI3K/Akt pathway.
