  • The population of Daegu, the third biggest city in Korea, is two point six million. Daegu is known as a basin or a city where it is not only too hot in summer but also too cold in winter. Recently with redevelopment apartment house boom, a 40-story or more apartment complexes are under construction near Shin-cheon and Dondaegu-ro, the south-north axis of Daegu. It is necessary to raise several points about blocking a road of the wind by high-rise apartment buildings and apartment complexes. As a kind of the green policy, Daegu enlarge the distance between apartment building by reconstructing low-rise apartment into high-rise and impose a duty of a green space on the ground by making a parking zone into an underground. Through this process, apartment complexes changed from a '一'shape to a '口'shape. It increases heat island phenomenon of a city by blocking a road of the wind that comes from Shin-cheon and Dondaegu-ro. To circulate the polluted air of Daegu basin, we need local wind. There are four effective measures. 1) Throw three greens into one in the center of the road at the north side in the same way of the south side of Dongdaegu-ro, 2) reflect the information of roads of the wind including heights, spaces and directions of buildings, 3) steer clear of a high-rise buildings and development apartment house constructions, and 4)select a city for benchmarking to be the environmental capital.

  • Growth of cities and an increase in population result in the development-oriented policy, urban streams to lose their natural characteristics and functions by channelization, parking lot construction, and so forth. The streams fall into urban drains, which is the current status of urban streams. Recently, the interest in the stream environment and the ecosystem has been increased, and the efforts have been made to improve the traditional maintenance program for small streams. These efforts lead to the application of the natural recovery systems. This study applied the 240-meter model reach along the Oncheon stream, which locates in Dongrae-gu, Busan city. to analyze the natural recovery system. The efficiency of each system has been analyzed and the future improvements for the systems are presented. The results show that the stream maintenance program should consider the ecological environment. thereby minimizing the environmental effects. When the changes are inevitable, the maintenance program should adopt the methods. which closely simulate the original environmental elements. or are more favorable to the ecosystem.

All data were segregated according to the departmental frequencies and their contents. To come up with for environmental and patient satisfaction improvement, all complaints or issues were communicated with hospital administrators, medical and nursing staff and employees. Comprehensive customer satisfaction activities including improving phone etiquette were discussed in Customer Satisfaction Team, CQI Team and each Department. All opportunities for improvement were implemented. Feedback actions were discussed. Results : A total of 317 cases were collected. Conclusions : Issues related to parking and other accommodation facilities ranked first followed by complaints made regarding the patient care area, the admission and cashier process, and nurses' and doctors' attitude. The Nursing and Psychiatry Departments need improvement regarding phone etiquette. Results were shared and played a vital role in policymaking and strategic planning of the hospital. It is imperative that we keep our database updated by listening to and solving the needs of each patient. The CQI activities can be achieved only by full commitment of the hospital top management supported by related personal.

  • Seoul city is publishing new plans to increase modal share rate of bicycle every year, such as, maintaining bicycle related facilities. But bicycle's modal share rate in Seoul stayed same for the last decade and people are still facing difficulties using bicycle related facilities. These problems are causing bicycle usage as connecting transportation of public transit to decrease. This study looked at the high bicycle modal countries, such as, Netherlands, Germany and Japan to find applicable solutions by analyzing cases and comparing them with cases of highly populated subway station of Sindorim in Seoul. For example, in Germany and Netherlands there is bicycle-parking system to help bikers to access subway easier, in Japan there is underground bicycle parking tower to safely keep high volume of bicycles with in small space. For Seoul city to increase its modal share rate, they should look at problems from users' prospective and solve it by fixing it and improving the services, not by making more facilities.

  • Using the dynamic panel model, this study investigates rent determinants for small and medium-sized office buildings in Korea's CBD and Gangnam areas, key business districts. The results reveal that rents for small and medium-sized office buildings in CBD and Gangnam areas are influenced by macroeconomic fluctuations and characteristics of buildings and locations, suggesting a market with both spatial consumer and investment goods attributes. There are several investment implications as follows. First, even if the location in the CBD area is advantageous, the practical limitations in renovating aging small and medium-sized office buildings must be taken into account when investing. Second, parking conditions are a key factor influencing rent prices in CBD areas, so evaluating the parking facilities and improvement potential of small and medium-sized office buildings is essential for investors. Finally, due to the high sensitivity of Gangnam's small and medium-sized office market to macroeconomic trends, it's vital to prioritize monetary policy shifts as a key factor in investment decisions.
