Genetic algorithm based predictor for lossless image compression is propsed. We describe a genetic algorithm to learn predictive model for lossless image compression. The error image can be further compressed using entropy coding such as Huffman coding or arithmetic coding. We show that the proposed algorithm can be feasible to lossless image compression algorithm.

This paper reports a machine learning approach for image object detection. Object detection and localization in a wild image, such as a STL-10 image dataset, is very difficult to implement using the traditional computer vision method. A convolutional neural network is a good approach for such wild image object detection. This paper presents an object detection application using a convolutional neural network with pretrained feature vector. This is a very simple and well organized hierarchical object abstraction model.

Purpose - Many studies have shown the effects of the external images of female flight attendants on the customers' satisfaction. Recently, the perception of male flight attendants has become more important and positive, and airlines are hiring a significant number of male flight attendants every year. Due to the lack of research on the male flight attendant, however, the images of male flight attendants were investigated for this study. Research, design, data and methodology - Using survey techniques with 204 respondents, this study used analytical data based their resulting analysis. Results - The study examined whether the image of the male flight attendant affects the cognitive and emotional perceptions of customers. The focus of the present study is the external image of the male flight attendant, and the following image-component divisions were formed: hairstyle, body type, uniform, speech, and facial expression. Conclusions - The study purpose sought to determine whether the image of the male flight attendant exert effects on the emotional and cognitive images of airlines, and if these images have a positive effect on the customers' satisfaction and loyalty for an airline, so that airlines can use the external image of the male flight attendant to help with its own image reinforcement.

멀티미디어 데이터의 생산과 소비가 증가함에 따라 이를 효과적으로 처리하고 관리하는 데 필요한 이미지 검색 기술의 필요성이 점차 커지고 있다. 본 논문에서는 이미지 검색 기법 중 최근 주목 받고 있는 특징점 기반의 이미지 검색 방법에서 기존 보다 강인한 기술자를 생성하는 방법을 제안한다. 즉, 스케일 공간 이미지에 더하여 1차 및 2차 미분 이미지를 기술자 생성에 이용함으로써 기술자의 변별력을 향상시키도록 한다. 제시되는 기술자는 다양한 영상 변환을 포함하는 공용 데이터 셋을 이용하여 성능 평가를 수행하였다. 새로운 기술자는 길이가 약간 증가하는 단점이 있으나 특징점 매칭에 있어서 현저한 성능 향상을 보인다.

In this paper, we describe new approach of ink particle fabrication method for electrophoretic display(EPD) with low voltage and rapid response time. Nano-size ink particles which fabricated using non-aqueous base modified emulsion process and micron-scale particles by non-solvent particle fabrication process are discussed. Finally, specially designed particles and panel structure fabricated considering the interactions between particle/particle, particle/media or particle/electrode dramatically reduce the driving voltages to ${\pm}$ 10V and improve the response time of less than 100msec and white reflectance of 58% for EPD using dielectric fluid as a medium. In case of EPD adapting micron-sized electrophoretic particles and a medium of air, the saturation voltage could be reduced to ${\pm}$ 40V and having white reflectance of 45% without scarification of electrophoretic mobility of the particles.

The temporal dark image sticking phenomena are examined and compared for the two different electrode structures such as the face-to-face and coplanar sustain electrode structure. To compare the temporal dark image sticking phenomena for both structures, the differences in the infrared emission profile, luminance, and perceived luminance of the image sticking cells and the non image sticking cells were measured. It is observed that the temporal dark image sticking is mitigated for the face-to-face structure. The mitigation of the temporal dark image sticking for the face-to-face structure is due to the slight increase in the panel temperature induced by the ITO-less electrode structure.

With increasing interest in the reduction of cost for operation and maintenance of overhead catenary system, various methods of condition monitoring have been developed and used in with high-speed analysis and advanced image processing techniques. This study utilizes a high-speed camera as inspecting system to measure the wear, stagger, hight and arc extinguishing test of overhead catenary system. All measuring image were captured by a high speed CMOS camera with PCI express output, which can acquire up to 1000 frames per second with the resolution 1024 × 1280 pixels. Line type laser source with a power equal to 300 mW and the National Instrument LabVIEW (8.0) based on vision acquisition software have been used in application programming interface for image acquisition, display, and storage. The proposed high-speed camera system is finally applied to measure the overhead catenary system showing promising on-field applications

본 논문에서는 임베디드 리눅스를 운영체제로 사용하는 개인용 휴대 임베디드 기기에서 부팅 시간을 단축시키기 위해 기존의 snapshot boot을 개선한 기법을 소개한다. Snapshot boot는 현재 수행중인 컴퓨팅 작업들에 대한 suspend/resume 작업을 기반으로 부팅 시간을 단축하고자 하는 기법인데, resume수행 시 bootloader가 기본적인 device 초기화 작업을 수행하고 직접 snapshot image를 원래 주소로 복사시켜 시스템을 복원함으로써 부팅 시간을 단축시켰다. Snapshot boot 기법의 문제점으로는 resume 동작을 수행할 때 snapshot image를 원래 주소로 복사하는데 많은 시간이 소요된다. Improved snapshot boot 기법은 suspend 작업 수행 시 모든 페이지를 대상으로 snapshot image를 만들지 않고 일부 페이지를 대상으로 snapshot image를 만들고 나머지 페이지들은 별도의 Swap area에 따로 저장함으로써 부팅 시 전체 페이지를 복사하지 않고 snapshot image로 만들어져 있는 일부의 페이지만을 복사하게 되어 전체 부팅 시간을 단축한다. 실험을 통해 suspend image가 2982 페이지일 때 약 30%의 부팅시간이 단축됨을 보였다. 이는 swap-out 시킨 페이지의 양에 비례하여 단축된다.

Civic participation in managing the work of a park is a natural experience, and urban culture has a role in forming and communicating ideas. However, when it comes to managing a copse, there is no clear scenic image. In this study, my intention was to determine a desirable scene involving a copse and suggest a target image for managing work from a scenic perspective. I selected 12 photographs and listed 10 pairs of adjectives that were judged to reflect the effect produced by the copse scene using the repertory grid development technique. In addition, I performed a scenic evaluation using the semantic differential(SD) method with each pair of adjectives. Factor analysis was performed based on questionnaire survey results, such that the scenic structure of the copse had a clear definition. In addition, the physical characteristics of the photographs were analyzed using Adobe Photoshop 6.0 and the correlations between the results of the questionnaire survey were understood using multiple regression analysis. A desirable scenic image of the copse became clear through this process and I was able to suggest various options of scenic images. Taking the aspects of urban culture into consideration, park improvement projects(including their planning stages) should be implemented by involving residents, which will lead to further development of park planning and maintenance theories and projects giving due consideration to residents' opinions.

In 1994, Songbuk-gu Office of Seoul held a design competition for Miarigogae-Park, Miarigogae has a special sense of place. It was a place where bararians had crossed the boundary to this country during the Manchu war of 1636. It was a public cemetery where only Koreans had been buried under the rule of Japanese imperialism. It was a place where national patriots had been kidnapped to the North during the Korean War. It's sorrows have been sung in the name of song-'Danjangeui-Miarigogae'(one of the most popular song in Korea). It's sense of place has been kept in every Korean people's mind in the form on 'non-physical image'. Even though, the site itself was a small space - only 1000㎡, the meaning of park-making was very significant. It meant that it would create a physical 'setting' to express the sense of place which has been existed only in our mind as a form of 'non-physical image'. In the winning scheme proposed by the author, the sense of place of Miarigogae was expressed in the form of 'castle walls' which could be easily come into everyone's mind as an image of war. The scope of work also included a crossing bridge and symbolic features. It was meaningful that a landscape architect won the competition including on those items which were not usually handled in pure landscape architectural offices. The purpose of this paper was to articulate the concept of the winning entry in detail and to describe how the concept actualized in reality.
