용접(鎔接) 강부재(鋼部材)의 피로균열성장(疲勞龜裂成長)에 대한 잔류응력특성(殘留應力特性)에 관한 연구(硏究) (Experimental Investigation of the Residual Stress on Fatigue Crack Growth of Welded Steel Members)

  • 용접(鎔接) 강구조물(鋼構造物)의 피로균열성장거동(疲勞龜裂成長擧動)에 관(關)한 용접잔류응력(鎔擬殘留應力)의 거동(擧動)을 파악(把握)키 위하여 열처리(熱處理)를 실시(實施)하고 피로균열성장(疲勞龜裂成長) 및 검토(檢討)한 결과(結果) 용접부(鎔接部)는 경화(硬化)되어 늑성(勒性)이 감소(減少)되므로 소재부(素材部)보다 피로균열성장율(疲勞龜裂成長率)이 높았으며 이를 열처리(熱處理)한 결과(結果) 경도(硬度)나 저항력(抵抗力)이 증가(增加)되어 개선(改善)되었으며 $650^{\circ}C$ 정도(程度)에서 가장 이상적(理想的) 이었다. Elber 식(式)은 Paris-Erdogan 식(式)에 비(比)해 균열(龜裂)닫힘현상(現狀)을 고려(考廬)하므로 더 낮은 균열성장율(龜裂成長率)을 가지며 각(各) 열처리(熱處理)에 의한 곡선(曲線)들이 서로 비슷하므로 잔류응력(殘留應力)의 효과(効果)를 고려(考慮)할 수 없었다. 균열(龜裂)길이에 따른 개구하중(開口荷重)은 경도(硬度)가 높을수록 큰 값을 가지나 열처리(熱處理) 후(後)는 경도(硬度)값의 저하(低下)로 피로균열(疲勞龜裂) 성장율(成長率)이 낮아지며 흡수(吸收)에너지와 파괴늑성(破壞勒性)을 증대(增大)시켜 균열저지능력(龜裂沮止能力)을 가져 파괴(破壞)의 위험성(危險性)을 감소(減少)시킨다.

  • Data which gathered and used in the field of fatigue and fracture mechanics have a lot of uncertainties. In this case, those uncertainties will make scatter band in evaluation of fatigue life and fracture toughness. Thus, the probabilistic analysis of these data will be needed. For determining the fatigue life in mixed mode, using crack direction law and fatigue crack growth law, the problem is studied as a constrained life minimization. Stress intensity factor(SIF) is computed by approximate solution table(Ewalds/Wanhill 1984) and 0th order PFEM. The variance of fatigue life and SIF are computed by differentiation of tabulated approximate solution and 1st order PFEM. And these are used for criterion of design values, principal parameter determination and modelling. The problem of center cracked plate is solved for checking the PFEM model which is influenced by various parameters like as initial crack length, final crack length, two fatigue parameters in Paris Equation and applied stress.

  • 본 연구는 노치가 있는 구조물의 피로수명 예측 평가에 대하여 연구하였다. DEN시험편에 대한 피로균열 발생수명과 피로균열 성장수명은 SIF K해석에서 유도한 식과 Paris의 균열성장 식을 사용하였다. 예측평가 결과는 일정하중 진폭 하에서의 실험적 균열성장거동과 잘 일치하는 결과를 보였다.

  • In this study, investigations were conducted in calculating parameters of elastic-plastic fracture mechanics using single specimen. The validity of these testing methods was judged by the confirmation of multiple specimen method of stop block test. The results were as follows: In order to measure a fracture toughness using the instrumented impact test, two general requirement must be considered; One, setting up proper impact velocity considered the effect of loading and the other, the necessity of low blow test for obtaining true energy by the compliance correction. It was possible to detect a crack initiation point by calculating the compliance changing rate from a load-defection curve. Criterion of a stable crack growth, $T_{mat}$ could be estimated by using key-curve method for a base metal. and combining Kaiser's rebound compliance with Paris-Hutchison's $T_{appl}$ equation for the brittled zone of welding heat affected.at affected.d.

균일진폭 하중하에서의 확률론적 균열진전 수명해석 (A Stochastic Analysis of Crack Propagation Life under Constant Amplitude Loading)

  • The experimental results of fatigue crack propagation under constant amplitude loading show that intra-and inter-specimen variability exist. In this paper, a stochastic model for the estimation of mean and variance of crack propagation life is presented To take into account the intra-specimen variability, the material resistance against crack propagation is treated as an 1-dimensional spatial stochastic process, i. e. random field, varying along the propagation path. For the inter-specimen variability, C in paris equation is assumed to be a random variable. Compared with experimental results reported, the present method well estimate the variation in fatigue crack propagation life. And it is confirmed that the thicker the specimen thickness is, the less the variation of propagation life is.

  • The best available solution to predict the fatigue life of structural steels is the implementation of EPFM approach based on the principles and techniques of elasto plastic fracture mechanics. To predict the fatigue life, the conventional Paris law has been modified by substituting the range of J-value denoted by ΔJ for ΔK that is calculated by the proposed p-version model. The proposed P-version finite element model is formulated by the incremental theory of Plasticity that consists of the constitutive equation fur elastic-perfectly plastic materials, Tresca/von-Mises yield criteria, and associated flow rule. The experimental fatigue test is conducted with five UP(Center Clucked Panels) specimens to validate the accuracy of the p-version finite element model. Also, the results obtained by LTM approach have been compared with those by EPFM approach.

반응표면을 사용한 터빈 휠의 균열성장 수명에 대한 신뢰성 평가 (Reliability Estimation for Crack Growth Life of Turbine Wheel Using Response Surface)

  • 균열성장 수명에는 구조 형상의 복잡함, 작용하중의 변동, 재료물성 분포 등의 영향으로 불확실성이 포함된다. 따라서 이러한 불확실 인자들에 대해 계산된 수명의 강건성을 확보하기 위해서는 신뢰성 평가가 요구된다. 하지만 형상이 복잡한 터빈 휠의 경우 균열성장 수명 계산의 주요 변수인 응력확대계수의 표현식을 알기 힘들며, 이를 유한요소해석으로 계산하므로 수명 계산 및 신뢰성 평가에 많은 시간이 요구된다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 균열성장 수명의 반응표면을 사용함으로써 신뢰성 평가의 효율성을 높일 수 있음을 고찰하였다. 이를 위해 형상이 복잡한 터빈 휠을 모델로 유한요소해석으로 생성된 응력확대계수 데이터를 회귀분석하여 근사모델을 생성한 후 응력확대계수의 회귀계수, Paris 계수, 초기균열길이에 대한 균열성장 수명의 반응표면을 생성하여 신뢰성해석에 사용하였다. 신뢰성해석은 몬테카를로 시뮬레이션으로 수행하였으며, 연구결과 반응표면의 사용이 신뢰성 평가 시 필요한 균열성장 수명의 계산량을 효과적으로 줄일 수 있었다.

  • Nowadays, many components used in machinery industry is required lightness and high strength. Therefore, the effects of compressive residual stress by shot-peening which is method to improve fatigue lift of spring steel (JISG SUP-9), which used in suspension of automobile, on fatigue crack growth characteristics was investigated with considering fracture mechanics. So, we can obtain followings 1. The fatigue crack growth rate on stage II is conspicuous with the size of compressive residual stress and is dependent on Paris equation. 2. Although the maximum compressive residual stress is deeply and widely formed from surface, fatigue life does not improve than when maximum compressive residual stress is formed in surface. 3. The threshold stress intensity factor range is increased with increasing compressive residual stress. 4. In fracture surface of fatigue crack growth it is investigated that compressive residual stress remarkably retards fatigue crack growth.

The shot-peening method is used in order to improve the fatigue life of spring steel(JIS G SUP-9) which is used in suspension of automobile. The compressive residual is induced in this shot-peening process. This paper investigated the effect of the residual compressive stress on the fatigue crack growth characteristics. Main results are summarized as follows. 1. The fatigue crack growth rate on stage II is conspicuous with the level of compressive residual stress and is dependent on Paris equation. 2. Although the maximum compressive residual stress is deeply and widely formed from surface, it does not improve the fatigue life comparing when maximum compressive residual stress is formed in surface. 3. The threshold stress intensity factor range is increased with increasing compressive residual stress. 4. In fracture surface of fatigue crack growth it is investigated that compressive residual stress remarkably retards fatigue crack growth.

인공해수중에서 연강 용접부의 표면구열 성장거동 (Study on Surface Crack Propagation Behaviour of Mild Steel Weldment in Synthetic Sea Water)

  • It was known that the fracture incidences of offshore structure were mostly originated from the surface defects. Especially, in the case of the welded structures, since the welded region has some defects and incomplete beads which are apt to behave like the surface cracks, it has been necessary to evaluate the environmental effects on crack growth at HAZ for the design crack growth behaviour at multi-pall HAZ for SWS41 steel under free corrosion and cathodic protection(-0.9V vs Ag/Agcl) conditions. The results are summarized as follows ; (1) Crack growth rate of the as weld in air was faster than that of the parent and PWHT specimens over all .DELTA.K rang. (2) In free corrosion test, surface crack growth rate of the as welded was decreased in comparison with that of the parents. (3) In fatigue test under cathodic protection, cathodic electric potential(-0.9V vs Ag/Agcl) for the SWS41 steel parent was effective, while for the as welded ineffective. (4) There was a tendency that the exponent(m) of the Paris' equation was decreased in order of microhardness magnititude in air and under cathodic protection conditions and vise versa in free corrosion. (5) Fracture surface has dimples and ductile striations in air test, but transgranular cracks and brittle striations under cathodic protection test.
