In this study of the correlates of peer victimization, 584 $4^{th}$ grade children in Seoul answered questionnaires regarding their personality traits, parent attachment and the marital conflict of their parents. Subjects and their peers also reported on peer aggression and victimization by peers. Data were analyzed by partial correlation, controlling for gender. Children's sociability/activity related positively to peer-rated peer aggression and negatively to self- and peer-rated victimization by peers. Children's shyness/emotionality related positively to self-reported peer aggression and to self- and peer-rated victimization by peers. Parent attachment related negatively to self-reported peer aggression and victimization by peers and positively to peer-rated peer aggression. Marital conflict related positively to self-reported peer aggression and to self- and peer-rated victimization by peers. Marital conflict was the most influential on peer aggression and children's personality traits were on victimization by peers.

Purpose: This study aimed to provide the baseline data for improving self-esteem under the influences of parental and peer attachment and depression in adolescents. Methods: The data were collected from 200 middle and high school students in D metropolitan city by completing questionnaires from August 19 to August 30, 2013. Results: The results of this study were as follows: The self-esteem was significantly different in academic grades, father's education level and economic status in adolescents. The relation of the variables to self-esteem by the statistical power in order was depression, peer attachment and parental attachment. The more the subjects were depressed, the more self-esteem dropped. The better parental and peer attachment, and household socio-economic status, the higher self-esteem was. Stepwise multiple regression analysis showed the level of parental and peer attachment and depression, which explained 38% of the total variance in self-esteem. Conclusion: Adolescents who had high self-esteem could reduce their depression and form good parental and peer attachment that would prevent them from being maladjusted. These results will affect the various activities of adolescent. Therefore, the way in which adolescents can improve their self-esteem should be found.
This study was done to examine parents, peer, teacher attachment, depression, and self-conception in adolescents. A survey using a structured questionnaire was conducted with 2,3 grade students of middle school located in 137 subjects. Data were analyzed using an independent t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and multiple stepwise regression analysis with the SPSS WIN 22.0 program. There was a significant difference in parents attachment(F=13.878, p<.001), peer attachment(F=7.431, p<.001), teacher attachment(F=7.425, p<.001), depression(F=13.241, p<.001), and self-conception(F=13.136, p<.001) according to participants' school grades. In the correlations of study variables, self-conception showed statistically significant correlations with parents, peer and teacher attachment in aspects of positive, and depression in aspect of negative. Participants' depression explained 61% of variance in self-conception. Findings from this study should be useful in the development of programs to promote participants' self-concept through their depression as a major problem in adolescent mental health.

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between attachment and automatic thoughts of adolescents. A sample of 443 students at middle and high schools participated. Adolescents reported parent and peer attachment using the modified version of Inventory of Parent and Peer Attachment (Armsden & Greenberg, 1987) and automatic thoughts using the modified version of Automatic Thought Questionnaire (Hollon & Kendall, 1980; Ingram & Wisnicki, 1988). Multiple regression analyses indicated that effects of attachments were different by the type of automatic thoughts. Specifically, trust in peer relations, trust in father-adolescent relations and communication in mother-adolescent relations were important predictors of positive automatic thought, whereas alienation in father-adolescent relations, alienation in peer relations and trust in mother-adolescent relations were important predictors of negative automatic thought.
This study aimed to verify the effects of parental chid-rearing attitudes on adolescents' aggressiveness and the mediation effects of peer attachment. To this end, the 7th year data (2016) (4th grade to the first year of high school) of Korea Children & Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS) were used. The results of this study are as follows: First, the correlations between child-rearing attitudes, aggressiveness, and peer attachment variables were confirmed. Second, parental child-rearing attitudes significantly affected adolescents' aggressiveness. Third, peer attachment showed some mediation effects in terms of the effects of parental child-rearing attitudes on adolescents' aggressiveness. For the significance verification of the mediation effects, the Sobel test was carried out. The results of this study are meaningful as empirical foundation. Based on the study results, this study suggested the need of education programs for parents and peer attachment consolidation programs for adolescents in relation with social welfare mediation practice.

This study aims to examine whether a parental neglect affects an adolescent's peer attachment and adult media immersion has a mediating effect. To achieve this goal, the first year of middle school panel of 'the 6th(2015) Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS)' was utilized. Using SPSS PROCESS Macro developed by Hayes, 'Bootstrapping' was employed to examine the significancy of the mediating effect on 563 objectives. According to the study, first of all, more parental neglect gave rise to less peer attachment. Second, the adult media immersion partly mediates the parental neglect and the adolescent's peer attachment. The practical implications of this results are below : First, parents' care and affection inside a home is necessary to formulate the healthy peer attachment of adolescent. Second, a parent education is important to prevent an adolescent's adult media immersion. Third, an adult media education for an adolescent is desired.

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between children's self-esteem, peer attachment, parenting attitudes, and children's grit, and to specifically identify the influence of children's self-esteem, peer attachment, and parenting attitudes on children's grit. The characteristics of the survey subjects were identified through frequency analysis and descriptive statistics analysis of the 11th year of the Korea Children's Panel (2018) data, and Pearson's moment correlation coefficient was calculated for correlation analysis between major variables. Multiple regression analysis was conducted to examine the influence of children's self-esteem, peer attachment, and parenting attitudes on children's grit. The research results are as follows. First, children's self-esteem, peer attachment, and parenting attitudes were found to be positively correlated. Second, the child's self-esteem was found to have a positive influence on the child's grit, and among the peer attachment sub-variables, peer trust was found to have an influence, and among the sub-factors of parenting attitude, 'mother' affection/involvement, 'father' Democratic relationships were found to have an effect. In other words, it can be seen that children's self-esteem at the personal level, peer trust at the school level, and maternal affection and paternal relationship at the family level are useful variables that strengthen children's grit. Accordingly, in order to improve children's grit level, we must consider promotion measures through intervention and support at a multifaceted level.

This study investigated the influence of life satisfaction, accomplishment value, peer attachment, and relationship with teachers on the self-esteem of adolescents in three time points. The study population consisted of a nationally representative sample of middle school 1st grade students who completed the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey(KCYPS) of the National Youth Policy Institute in 2010, 2012, and 2014. Descriptive statistics used included frequency, percentage, average, and standard deviation; in addition, reliability, repeated measure ANOVA, and regression results were reported using SPSS statistics. The results were as follows. First, this study showed that the longitudinal changes of self-esteem, life satisfaction, accomplishment value, peer attachment, and relationship with teachers were significantly different across three time points. Second, longitudinal changes in adolescents' self-esteem, life satisfaction, peer attachment, and relationship with teachers differed by gender, but accomplishment value did not. Third, life satisfaction was the most influential to self-esteem and peer attachment was the second most influential in the three data sets after controlling for gender, parents' academic attainment, and residential area. The influence of life satisfaction on self-esteem decreased across the three time points, but that of peer attachment increased over time. Instruction on life satisfaction and peer attachment needs to be more highlighted in Home Economics classes to enhance the self-esteem of adolescents.
This study tries to examine the effect of positive and negative parents' attitudes on adolescents' smartphone dependency, and prove the meditating effect of poor attachment between the two variables in the times of convergence. For the study, the data from the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey were analyzed by utilizing the path analysis, the data from 1,971. The results are as follows: First, positive and negative parents' attitudes influenced adolescents' poor attachment. Second, positive and negative parents' attitudes had a effect on adolescents' smartphone dependency. Third, parents' attttudes directly influenced adolescents' smart phone dependency and its' effect was indirectly mediated by the subjects's poor attachment.
This study examined the effect of digital technologies on adolescent mental health; attention deficit, aggression, depression. Furthermore, we investigated the role of parenting style and peer attachment as they might have effects on digital technologies. Using two-wave longitudinal data, we conducted longitudinal analysis from the Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey done in 2015 and 2016. Results showed that computer and internet usage for learning purpose has a positive effect on mental health, while computer games and social media have negative effects. Also, the positive effects of learning on depression indicated stronger in adolescents who felt less affection from their parents. On the other hand, the negative effects of computer games and social media could be moderated by both parenting style and peer attachment. Implications of these results and directions for future research are discussed.
