Identification of Hazard for Securing the Safety of Unmanned Parcel Storage Device System Using Robot Technology

  • The development of the fourth industrial revolution and logistics 4.0 related technology, the growth of the e-commerce market, and the transition to a non-face to face society due to the pandemic are accelerating the growth of the logistics industry. Due to the growth of the logistics industry, various services are emerging to meet the requirements of the market, and research and technology development related to the parcel storage, which is an important element of the last mile service, is also underway. In the past, if it was difficult to deliver the goods directly to the recipient, the parcel storage installed near the delivery location was used, but the usability was not good and the storage of the goods was limited. In addition, the existing parcel storage has a lot of functional limitations compared to the advanced logistics technology, so it is necessary to develop a device that improves it. Therefore, this study conducted to secure safety for unmanned parcel storage devices with robot technology to improve usability and functionality in line with the advanced logistics industry. Based on ISO 10218, an industrial robot related standard, risk identification studies were conducted to derive results that contribute to the development of devices under development.

Novel online routing algorithms for smart people-parcel taxi sharing services

  • Building smart transportation services in urban cities has become a worldwide problem owing to the rapidly increasing global population and the development of Internet-of-Things applications. Traffic congestion and environmental concerns can be alleviated by sharing mobility, which reduces the number of vehicles on the road network. The taxi-parcel sharing problem has been considered as an efficient planning model for people and goods flows. In this paper, we enhance the functionality of a current people-parcel taxi sharing model. The adapted model analyzes the historical request data and predicts the current service demands. We then propose two novel online routing algorithms that construct optimal routes in real-time. The objectives are to maximize (as far as possible) both the parcel delivery requests and ride requests while minimizing the idle time and travel distance of the taxis. The proposed online routing algorithms are evaluated on instances adapted from real Cabspotting datasets. After implementing our routing algorithms, the total idle travel distance per day was 9.64% to 12.76% lower than that of the existing taxi-parcel sharing method. Our online routing algorithms can be incorporated into an efficient smart shared taxi system.

Effects of an ice pack and sulfur generating pad treatment for home delivery on the quality of 'Duke' blueberry fruits

  • This study focused on the improvement of blueberry delivery service using pre-cooled ice and $SO_2$ pads to prevent an increase in the fruit temperature as well as decay. To maintain the fruit quality during low temperature storage, the effect of a $SO_2$ pad and modified atmosphere packaging was also examined. Harvested blueberries were precooled at $15^{\circ}C$, sorted, and packaged. And the fruits were placed in a similar environment as that for the parcel service. Part of the fruits were stored at $0^{\circ}C$ for long term storage. The air temperature in the delivery box increased along with an increase in the simulated delivery time regardless of the treatment. However, the rate of temperature increase was lower in the ice pad treatment. No significant difference was not found after 48 h. The oxygen concentration in the box ranged between 10.5 - 14.5% in the ice pad treatment, which was higher than that of the untreated control (7.5 - 11.9%) whereas the $CO_2$ concentration was lower in the ice pad treatment. No differences were found in the occurrence of off-flavor, decay, and sensory quality loss during the 48 hours of the parcel service simulation. The combined treatment of the $SO_2$ pad and modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) using a perforated film increased the shelf-life of the blueberry fruits, the overall quality such as firmness, and the soluble solid content was not different between the treatments except for the decay incidence. No decayed fruit was found in the combined treatment. However, the percentage of decayed fruit in the control was 25% on day 15 of storage and 75% on day 33 of storage, respectively.

  • In this paper, we develop a planning system for the routing and scheduling of vehicles in pickup and delivery service such as door-to-door parcel service. Efficient routing and scheduling of vehicles is very important in pickup and delivery service. The routing and scheduling problem is a variation of vehicle routing problem which has various realistic constraints. We develop a heuristic algorithm based on tabu search to solve the routing and scheduling problem. We develop a routing and scheduling system installed the algorithm as a planning engine. The system manage the basic data and uses GIS data to make a realistic route plan.

  • This study focuses on the development of a Last-Mile delivery service using unmanned vehicles to deliver goods directly to the end consumer utilizing drones to perform autonomous delivery missions and an image-based precision landing algorithm for handoff to a robot in an intermediate facility. As the logistics market continues to grow rapidly, parcel volumes increase exponentially each year. However, due to low delivery fees, the workload of delivery personnel is increasing, resulting in a decrease in the quality of delivery services. To address this issue, the research team conducted a study on a Last-Mile delivery service using unmanned vehicles and conducted research on the necessary technologies for drone-based goods transportation in this paper. The flight scenario begins with the drone carrying the goods from a pickup location to the rooftop of a building where the final delivery destination is located. There is a handoff facility on the rooftop of the building, and a marker on the roof must be accurately landed upon. The mission is complete once the goods are delivered and the drone returns to its original location. The research team developed a mission planning algorithm to perform the above scenario automatically and constructed an algorithm to recognize the marker through a camera sensor and achieve a precision landing. The performance of the developed system has been verified through multiple trial operations within ETRI.

택배종사자의 근골격계질환 증상에 관한 연구 (Symptoms of the Musculoskeletal disorders in Delivery Workers )

  • Due to the routine nature of social distancing in accordance with the COVID-19 pandemic, the logistics industry is under rapid development, given that offline demand is focused on online platforms. The number of warehouse workplaces and workers are steadily increasing per annum, and the industrial accident rate of transportation, warehouse, and telecommunication industries to which warehouse employees belong is higher than the total industrial accident rate in Korea. In previous studies, warehouse workers reported exposure to health hazards such as musculoskeletal disorders due to the handling of heavy objects and improper working postures. Accordingly, in this study, a survey was conducted to investigate symptoms of musculoskeletal disorders with focus on parcel delivery workers nationwide. The questionnaire included a musculoskeletal disorder symptom survey table to identify information such as worker occupational history, work type, and signs or symptoms of musculoskeletal disorders. Survey response data from 453 people were obtained to determine the influence of delivery business characteristics on occupational musculoskeletal disorders, and the influencing factors were analyzed. Based on the results, in the analysis of pain with respect to body part, the duration, degree, and frequency of pain were highest in the leg part, and as a result, the average value for the leg part exhibited a significant difference from those of other body parts. In addition, 52.32% of workers exhibited symptoms of musculoskeletal disorders, and a high number of patients with musculoskeletal disorders was observed in the work group with less than three years of service and with ages ranging from 30-39. The results of this study can serve as basic data for the derivation of a management plan that meets the characteristics of musculoskeletal disorders that impact logistics workers overburdened with work due to the rapid increase in parcel delivery volume in accordance with an increase in online consumption.

  • 최근 택배산업의 성장과 물량이 급격히 증가하면서 피해 사례가 계속해서 늘어나고 있다. 현재 택배서비스 이용 시 피해가 발생한 경우 책임소재 입증불가 및 사업자의 책임회피로 택배 이용 고객들은 피해보상을 제대로 받지 못하고 있다. 특히 운송물 분실 시 택배사업자와 수하인 또는 대리인의 책임소재를 입증할 수 있는 증거자료가 부족하기 때문에 책임이 불명확하고 책임소재 파악을 위하여 많은 시간이 소요된다. 이를 사전에 방지하기 위해서 관련된 증거를 생성, 수집, 유지, 활용, 입증 등이 반드시 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 택배 운송장에서 발신자 정보와 수신자 정보를 암호화 및 코드화하여 개인정보를 보호한다. 또한, 피해 사례 발생 시, 정의된 발신 코드 및 수신 코드를 이용하여 발신 배송 수신에 대한 명확하고 신속한 책임 소재 파악이 가능하도록, 효율적이고 안전한 부인방지 프로토콜을 제안한다.

우리나라 B2C 전자상거래 촉진요인이 온라인쇼핑과 해외직접구매에 미치는 영향 : 택배물류기업의 과제를 중심으로 (A Study on the Effect of the Facilitating Factors of B2C eCommerce on the Online Shopping and the Overseas Direct Purchase)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 우리나라 B2C 전자상거래 촉진요인과 온라인쇼핑시장 및 해외직접구매와의 상관관계를 분석함으로써 물류기업들의 물류운영전략 수립에 시사점을 제공하는데 있다. 본 연구는 문헌연구를 통하여 B2C 전자상거래 촉진요인을 도출하고, 전자상거래 촉진요인과 국내 온라인쇼핑 및 해외직접구매와의 인과관계를 실증 분석함으로써 B2C 전자상거래 시대 우리나라 택배서비스기업들의 과제 및 성공적 물류운영전략을 제안하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 B2C 전자상거래 촉진요인들이 국내 온라인쇼핑거래액 및 해외직접수입 실적에 미치는 영향을 파악하기 위해 두 가지 ARDL 모형을 설정하였다. 모형의 분석결과, 신용카드 이용건수, 가구당 처분가능소득, 환율, 실질GDP, 정보통신 부문 설비투자, 초고속인터넷가입자수, 인터넷 프로토콜 IPV4 보유수, 15세 이상 인구 등의 변수가 종속변수에 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 향후 온라인 모바일 기술 및 국민들의 경제수준이 고양됨에 따라 B2C 전자상거래 기업 및 물류기업들은 최적의 택배 물류서비스 수행을 위한 고도의 전략적 접근이 필요한 시점이다.

  • 코로나19 이후 비대면 소비 사회로의 전환이 일어나며 생활밀착형 라스트마일 물류 서비스인 택배 기반의 세분화된 도시 물류의 중요성이 대두되고 있다. 본 연구는 소셜 네트워크 분석(SNA)을 활용하여 지역 및 상품 특성별로 수요의 관계성을 분석하고자 한다. 전자상거래에서 수요 파악에 활용되었던 장바구니 네트워크와 공동 구매 상품 네트워크를 확장한 분석 결과 택배 주문 건 수 데이터 속에서 상품 카테고리 패턴을 발견하고 지역별 차이를 확인하였다. 이를 바탕으로 본 연구에서 제시하는 SNA 기반 분석이 도시 물류의 재고 분산 배치나 상품(SKU) 선정 전략에 효과적으로 적용될 수 있음이 확인되었다.

우편물량 규모에 따른 운영비용 기준의 무인화 대상우체국 선정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Site Selection of Unmanned Post Office Considering the Operation Cost by the Mail Volume)

  • Recently, ordinary mail is decreasing continuously by the development of ICT (Information and Communications Technology) including E-mail, messenger service, and etc. On the contrary, parcel post is increasing by the increase of online shopping, home shopping, and etc. Aside from these changes, the demand for various mail acceptance and delivery means is increasing with the increase of single households and dual-income couples. To overcome these environmental changes, Korea Post installs unmanned post offices which are composed of various unmanned mail acceptance and delivery postal systems. In this paper, we propose the methodological approach for the site selection of unmanned post office among the existing post offices and the installation standard of unmanned postal system considering the operation cost by the mail volume.
