The wide spread of genuine and fake information on internet has lead to various studies on text analysis. Copying and pasting others' work without acknowledgement, research results manipulation without proof has been trending for a while in the era of data science. Various tools have been developed to reduce, combat and possibly eradicate plagiarism in various research fields. Text similarity measurements can be manually done by using both parametric and non parametric methods of which this study implements cosine similarity and Pearson correlation as parametric while Spearman correlation as non parametric. Cosine similarity and Pearson correlation metrics have achieved highest coefficients of similarity while Spearman shown low similarity coefficients. We recommend the use of non parametric methods in measuring text similarity due to their non normality assumption as opposed to the parametric methods which relies on normality assumptions and biasness.

Naval combat system developed in-country is progressing at an alarming rate since 2000. ROK navy will be achieved all vessels that have combat system in the near future. The importance of System Engineering and Integrated Logistics Support based on reliability analysis is increasing. However, reliability analysis that everyone trusted and recognized is not enough and applied practically for development of Defense Acquisition Program. In particular, Existing Reliability Analysis is focusing on reliability index (Mean Time Between Failure (MTBF) etc.) for policy decision of defense improvement project. Most of the weapon system acquisition process applying in the exponential distribution simply persist unreality due to memoryless property. Critical failures are more important than simple faults to ship's operator. There are no confirmed cases of reliability analysis involved with critical failure that naval ship scheduler and operator concerned sensitively. Therefore, this study is focusing on Mean Time To Critical Failure (MTTCF), reliability on specific time and Operational Readiness Float (ORF) requirements related to critical failure of Patrol Killer Guided missile (PKG) combat system that is beginning of naval combat system developed in-country. Methods of analysis is applied parametric and non-parametric statistical techniques. It is compared to the estimates and proposed applications. The result of study shows that parametric and non-parametric estimators should be applied differently depending on purpose of utilization based on test of normality. For the first time, this study is offering Reliability of ROK Naval combat system to stakeholders involved with defense improvement project. Decision makers of defense improvement project have to active support and effort in this area for improvement of System Engineering.
Breast cancer is one of the most common causes of cancer mortality in Iran. Social determinants of health are among the key factors affecting the pathogenesis of diseases. This cross-sectional study aimed to determine the social determinants of breast cancer survival time with parametric and semi-parametric regression models. It was conducted on male and female patients diagnosed with breast cancer presenting to the Cancer Research Center of Shohada-E-Tajrish Hospital from 2006 to 2010. The Cox proportional hazard model and parametric models including the Weibull, log normal and log-logistic models were applied to determine the social determinants of survival time of breast cancer patients. The Akaike information criterion (AIC) was used to assess the best fit. Statistical analysis was performed with STATA (version 11) software. This study was performed on 797 breast cancer patients, aged 25-93 years with a mean age of 54.7 (${\pm}11.9$) years. In both semi-parametric and parametric models, the three-year survival was related to level of education and municipal district of residence (P<0.05). The AIC suggested that log normal distribution was the best fit for the three-year survival time of breast cancer patients. Social determinants of health such as level of education and municipal district of residence affect the survival of breast cancer cases. Future studies must focus on the effect of childhood social class on the survival times of cancers, which have hitherto only been paid limited attention.
In social science fields, statistical models are used almost exclusively for causal explanation, and explanatory modeling has been a mainstream until now. In contrast, predictive modeling has been rare in the fields. Hence, we focus on constructing the predictive non-parametric model, instead of the explanatory model. Gangnam-gu, Seoul was chosen as a study area and we collected single-family house sales data sold between 2011 and 2014. We applied non-parametric models proposed in machine learning area including generalized additive model(GAM), random forest, multivariate adaptive regression splines(MARS) and support vector machines(SVM). Models developed recently such as MARS and SVM were found to be superior in predictive power for house price estimation. Finally, spatial autocorrelation was accounted for in the non-parametric models additionally, and the result showed that their predictive power was enhanced further. We hope that this study will prompt methodology for property price estimation to be extended from traditional parametric models into non-parametric ones.

As the development of hydrogen vehicles has accelerated in recent years, it is necessary to develop a storage tank for hydrogen fueling stations capable of high-pressure charging, and for this purpose, a new system with a compressor-embedded refueling tank is required. In this study, the parametric study of shape design based on strength performance evaluation was carried out to find the optimal shape design of bellows, the core component of compressor-embedded refueling tank for a newly developed hydrogen refueling station capable of high-pressure charging above 1,000 bar. The design factors for parametric study were contour shape and radius of bellows, and the performance factors were the maximum stress and the gap distance in the contact direction. In the shape design of the compressor bellows for hydrogen refueling station considered in this study, it was found that adjusting the contour radius is an appropriate design method to improve the compression performance and structural safety.

This study aims the development of a semi-analytic method for the parametric roll of large containerships advancing in longitudinal waves. A 1.5 Degree-of-Freedom(DOF) model is proposed to account the change of transverse stability induced by wave elevations and vertical motions (heave and pitch). By approximating the nonlinearity of restoring moment at large heel angles, the magnitude of roll amplitude is predicted as well as susceptibility check for parametric roll occurrence. In order to increase the accuracy of the prediction, the relationship between righting arm(GZ) and metacentric height(GM) is examined in the presence of incident waves, and then a new formula is proposed. Based on the linear approximation of the mean and first harmonic component of GM, the equation of parametric roll in irregular wave excitations is introduced, and the computational results of the proposed model are validated by comparing those of weakly nonlinear simulation based on an impulse-response-function method combined with strip theory. The present semi-analytic doesn’ t require heavy computational effort, so that it is very efficient particularly when numerous sea conditions for the analysis of parametric roll should be considered.
Employing discrete elements for considering bond-slip effects in reinforced concrete structures is very time consuming. In this study, a new modified embedded element method is used to consider the bond-slip phenomenon in structural behavior of reinforced concrete structures. A comprehensive parametric study of RC slabs is performed to determine influence of different variables on structural behavior. The parametric study includes a set of simple models accompanied with complex models such as multi-storey buildings. The procedure includes the decrease in the effective stiffness of steel bar in the layered model. Validation of the proposed model with existing experimental results demonstrates that the model is capable of considering the bond-slip effects in embedded elements. Results demonstrate the significant effect of bond-slip on total behavior of structural members. Concrete characteristic strengths, steel yield stress, bar diameter, concrete coverage and reinforcement ratios are the parameters considered in the parametric study. Results revealed that the overall behavior of slab is significantly affected by bar diameter compared with other parameters. Variation of steel yield stress has insignificant impact in static response of RC slabs; however, its effect in cyclic behavior is important.

The structural design of an optical-telescope assembly (OTA) for satellite laser ranging (SLR) is conducted in two steps. First, the results of a parametric study of the major design variables (e.g. dimension and shape) of the OTA part are explained, and the detailed structural design of the OTA is derived, considering the design requirements. Among the structural-shape concepts of various OTAs, the Serrurier truss concept is selected in this study, and the collimation of the telescope according to the design variables is extensively discussed. After generating finite-element models for different structural shapes, self-gravity analyses are performed. To minimize the deflection and tilt of the mirror and frame for the OTA under the limited design requirements, a parametric study is conducted according to design variables such as the shapes of the upper and lower struts and the spider vane. The structural features found in the parametric study are described. Finally, the OTA structure is designed in detail to maintain the optical alignment by balancing the gravity deflections of the upper and lower trusses using the optimal combination of the parameters. Additionally, thermal analysis of the optical telescope design is evaluated.
Background: Research on cancers with a high rate of mortality such as those occurring in the stomach requires using models which can provide a closer examination of disease processes and provide researchers with more accurate data. Various models have been designed based on this issue and the present study aimed at evaluating such models. Materials and Methods: Data from 330 patients with gastric cancer undergoing surgery at Iran Cancer Institute from 1995 to 1999 were analyzed. Cox-Snell Residuals and Akaike Information Criterion were used to compare parametric and semi-parametric Cox models in modeling transition rates among different states of a multi-state model. R 2.15.1 software was used for all data analyses. Results: Analysis of Cox-Snell Residuals and Akaike Information Criterion for all probable transitions among different states revealed that parametric models represented a better fitness. Log-logistic, Gompertz and Log-normal models were good choices for modeling transition rate for relapse hazard (state $1{\rightarrow}state$ 2), death hazard without a relapse (state $1{\rightarrow}state$ 3) and death hazard with a relapse (state $2{\rightarrow}state$ 3), respectively. Conclusions: Although the semi-parametric Cox model is often used by most cancer researchers in modeling transition rates of multistate models, parametric models in similar situations- as they do not need proportional hazards assumption and consider a specific statistical distribution for time to occurrence of next state in case this assumption is not made - are more credible alternatives.
