  • The wide spread of genuine and fake information on internet has lead to various studies on text analysis. Copying and pasting others' work without acknowledgement, research results manipulation without proof has been trending for a while in the era of data science. Various tools have been developed to reduce, combat and possibly eradicate plagiarism in various research fields. Text similarity measurements can be manually done by using both parametric and non parametric methods of which this study implements cosine similarity and Pearson correlation as parametric while Spearman correlation as non parametric. Cosine similarity and Pearson correlation metrics have achieved highest coefficients of similarity while Spearman shown low similarity coefficients. We recommend the use of non parametric methods in measuring text similarity due to their non normality assumption as opposed to the parametric methods which relies on normality assumptions and biasness.

  • Parametric modeling is one of BIM's characteristics and BIM have being utilized for constructability analysis, energy efficiency analysis, and so on in diverse construction field. However, parametric information's interoperation is not solved until now because different BIM tools have specific algorithm and methods to generate geometric information. To solve the problem, previous research suggested IFC-XML methodology. In this paper, authors studied connections between IFC-XML structure and script-based modeling commends to make libraries in commercial BIM tools such as ArchiCAD$^{TM}$ and Digital Project$^{TM}$. In addition, they made commends mapping tables to exchange geometry information of architectural components. Moreover, mapping system was developed to certify the mapping tables which is classified modeling commends. Finally, translated architectural component model was confirmed using exchanged geometry information in browser.

  • In this paper we define a two parametric new generalized useful average code-word length $L_{\alpha}^{\beta}$(P;U) and its relationship with two parametric new generalized useful information measure $H_{\alpha}^{\beta}$(P;U) has been discussed. The lower and upper bound of $L_{\alpha}^{\beta}$(P;U), in terms of $H_{\alpha}^{\beta}$(P;U) are derived for a discrete noiseless channel. The measures defined in this communication are not only new but some well known measures are the particular cases of our proposed measures that already exist in the literature of useful information theory. The noiseless coding theorems for discrete channel proved in this paper are verified by considering Huffman and Shannon-Fano coding schemes on taking empirical data. Also we study the monotonic behavior of $H_{\alpha}^{\beta}$(P;U) with respect to parameters ${\alpha}$ and ${\beta}$. The important properties of $H_{{\alpha}}^{{\beta}}$(P;U) have also been studied.

  • Parametric bodies reproduce the actual shape of human body parts and should be convenient for general users to change size to judge the visual fit of clothes on-line. In this study, three parametric bodies(i.e. I, C, D ) were compared to verify the accuracy of the provided body dimensions and reproducibility to a target model. To compare reproducibility, the 20s female standard virtual model developed for an apparel industry by Korean agency for technology and standards is used. The investigation of existing parameters showed that the numbers and kinds of parameters provided by each program were different with some errors in notation; in addition, some of virtual body dimensions went beyond the maximum allowable error. The result of changing each parametric body to the 20s female standard body showed that D, C, I in order produced better reproducibility for body dimensions. There were different levels of protrusion and concavity in the virtual cross sections and virtual longitudinal sections despite the small differences in body dimensions and cross sectional areas; in addition, some parametric body was not bilateral symmetry. The results of this study can be used as basic information in the standardization of a virtual model used in a virtual garment program.

  • Apartment building site planning is one of time consuming and labor-intensive tasks in architectural design field, due to its complexity in zoning regulations, building codes, local restrictions, and site-specific conditions. In other words, the process can be seen as a very complicated mathematical function with layers of variables and parameters, which ironically can be automated using computational methods on parametric tools. In this paper, a practical method of automating site planning of an apartment complex has been proposed by utilizing parametric approaches in Rhino 3D and Grasshopper. Two primary parameters, building heights and positions, determine the efficacy of building layouts under all regulatory standards, thus testing out numerous combinations of the two will produce some successful layout alternatives. For this, equation solver has been used for iterating the parametric model to sort out meaningful results among others. It also has been proven that the proposed process significantly reduced the time in site planning down to less than an hour on most cases, and many successful alternatives could be obtained by using multiple computers. Post evaluation processes such as day light and view shed analysis helped sort out the best performing ones out of functioning alternatives.

  • The role of cost modeller is to facilitate the design process by systematic application of cost factors so as to maintain a sensible and economic relationship between cost, quantity, utility and appearance which thus helps in achieving the client's requirements within an agreed budget. There are a number of research on cost estimates in the early design stage based on the improvement of accuracy or impact factors. It is common knowledge that cost estimates are undertaken progressively throughout the design stage and make use of the information that is available at each phase, through the related research up to now. In addition, Cost estimates in the early design stage shall analyze the information under the various kinds of precondition before reaching the more developed design because a design can be modified and changed in all process depending on clients' requirements. Parametric cost estimating models have been adopted to support decision making in a changeable environment, in the early design stage. These models are using a similar instance or a pattern of historical case to be constituted in project information, geographic design features, relevant data to quantity or cost, etc. OLAP technique analyzes a subject data by multi-dimensional points of view; it supports query, analysis, comparison of required information by diverse queries. OLAP's data structure matches well with multiview-analysis framework. Accordingly, this study implements multi-dimensional information system for case based quantity data related to design information that is utilizing OLAP's technology, and then analyzes impact factors of quantity by the design criteria or parameter of the same meaning. On the basis of given factors examined above, this study will generate the rules on quantity measure and produce resemblance class using clustering of data mining. These sorts of knowledge-base consist of a set of classified data as group patterns, of which will be appropriate stand on the parametric cost estimating method.

  • As the time-to-market gets more important for competitiveness of an enterprise in manufacturing industry, it becomes important to shorten the development cycle of a product. Reuse of existing design models and e-Catalog for components are required for faster product development. To achieve this goal, an electric catalog must provide parametric CAD models since parametric information is indispensable for configuration design. There are difficulties in building up a parametric library of all the necessary combination using a CAD system, since we have too many combinations of components for a product. For example, there are at least 80 million combinations of components on one page of paper catalog of a mold base. To solve this problem, we propose the method of table parametric for the automatic generation of parametric CAD models. Any combination of mold base can be generated by mapping between a classification system of an electric catalog and the design parameters set of the table parametric. We propose how to select parametric models and to construct the design parameters set.

  • This paper presents the study on the stability of nonlinear oscillations of a thin cantilever beam subject to harmonic base excitation in vertical direction. Two partial differential governing equations under combined parametric and external excitations were derived and converted into two-degree-of-freedom ordinary differential Mathieu equations by using the Galerkin method. We used the method of multiple scales in order to analyze one-to-one combination resonance. From these, we could obtain the eigenvalue problem and analyze the stability of the system. From the thin cantilever experiment using foamax, we could observe the nonlinear modes of bending, twisting, sway, and snap-through buckling. In addition to qualitative information, the experiment using aluminum gave also the quantitative information for the stability of combination resonance of a thin cantilever beam under parametric excitation.

  • For clinical trials, it is common to compare the placebo and new drug. The method of calculating a sample size for two independent populations are the t-test that is used for parametric methods, and the Wilcoxon rank-sum test that is used in the non-parametric methods. In this paper, we propose a method that is using Kim's (1994) statistic power based on the linear placement statistic, which was proposed by Orban and Wolfe (1982). We also compare the sample size for the proposed method with that for using Wang et al. (2003)'s sample size formula which is based on Wilcoxon rank-sum test, and with that of t-test for parametric methods.

  • In this paper we investigate the permutation test for the equality of correlation coefficients in several independent populations. Permutation test is a non-parametric testing methodology based upon the exchangeability of observations. Exchangeability is a generalization of the concept of independent, identically distributed random variables. Using permutation method, we may construct asymptotically exact test. This method is asymptotically as powerful as standard parametric tests and is a valuable tool when the sample sizes are small and normality assumption cannot be met. We first review existing parametric approaches to test the equality of correlation coefficients and compare them with the permutation test. At the end, all the approaches are illustrated using Iris data example.
