Analytical method for the determination of trace germanium in inorganic matrices by differential pulse polarography(DPP) was studied. The reduction peak of germanium(IV) in perchloric acid solution containing 1, 2, 3-trihydroxy benzene appeared at -0.45V(vs. Ag/AgCl) and the peak current for germanium complex varied linearly with concentration variation. Factors affecting sensitivity and precision for germanium quantification were studied and detection limit under the investigated parameters was 1ng/ml. Inorganic samples were decomposed by fusion with potassium pyrosulfate. Serious interferences of Se(IV), Pb(II), As(III) for the determination of germanium were discussed. Interferences of these elements could be avoided by extraction of germanium from decomposed matrices by $CCl_4$ in 10M HCl solution. The germanium contents of inorganic samples(Pb bf. dust, Cu bf. dust, gneiss, Cu anode slime) were determined by the above method.
Open-pit mine slope design must be carried out from the economical efficiency and stability point of view. The overall slope angle is the primary design variable because of limited support or reinforce options available. In this study, the slope angle and critical slope height of large coal mine located in Pasir, Kalimantan, Indonesia were determined from safety point of view. Failure time prediction based on the monitored displacement using inverse velocity was also conducted to make up fir the uncertainty of the slope design. From the study, critical slope height was calculated as $353{\sim}438m$ under safety factor guideline (SF>1.5) and $30^{\circ}$ overall slope angle but loom is recommended as a critical slope height considering the results of sensitivity analysis of strength parameters. The results of inverse velocity analysis also showed good agreement with field slope cases. Therefore, failure of unstable slope can be roughly detected before real slope failure.

Permissible soil concentrations for explosives (i.e., TNT and RDX) and heavy metals (i.e., Cu, Zn, Pb, and As) heve been derived from human risk and ecotoxicity, respectively. For TNT and RDX, human risk based-permissible soil concentrations were determined as 460 mg-TNT/kg-soil and 260 mg-RDX/kg-soil. Ecotoxicity based-permissible soil concentrations for Cu and Zn were determined from species sensitivity distribution (SSD) and uncertainty factor of 1 to 5, yielding 18.0-40.0 mg-Cu/kg-soil and 46.0-100 mg-Zn/kg-soil. For Pb and As, ecotoxicity data were not enough to establish SSD so that a deterministic method was used, generating 13.8-30.8 mg-Pb/kg-soil and 2.10-4.60 mg-As/kg-soil. It is worth noting that the methodology used to derive permissible concentrations in soil can differ depending on ecotoxicity data availability and socio-economic situations, which results in different permissible concentrations. The permissible concentrations presented in this study have been derived from conservative assumptions for exposure parameters, and thus should be considered as soil standards. In the light of remediation and pollution management of a site of interest, the site-specific and receptor-specific permissible soil concentrations should be derived considering potential receptors, current and future land use, background concentrations, and socio-economic consultation.
A solid phase microextraction (SPME) method in combination with gas chromatography/mass spectrometric techniques was used for the extraction and quantification of 12 selected agrochemical residues in tobacco. The parameters such as the type of SPME fiber, adsorption/desorption time and the extraction temperature affecting the precision and accuracy of the SPME method were investigated and optimized. Among three types of fibers investigated, polyacrylate (PA), polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and polydimethylsiloxane-divinylbenzene (PDMS-DVB), PDMS fiber was selected for the extractions of the agrochemicals. The SPME device was automated and on-line coupled to a gas chromatograph with a mass spectrometer. Mass spectrometry (MS) was used and two different instruments, a quadrupole MS and triple quadrupole MS-MS mode, were compared. The performances of the two GC-MS instruments were comparable in terms of linearity (in the range of 0.01$\sim$0.5 $\mu$g/mL) and sensitivity (limits of detection were in the low ng/mL range). The triple quadrupole MS-MS instrument gave better precision than that of quadrupole MS system, but generally the relative standard deviations for replicates were acceptable for both instruments (< 15%). The LODs was fully satisfied the requirements of the CORESTA GRL. Recoveries of 12 selected agrochemicals in tobacco yielded more than 80% and reproducibility was found to be better than 10% RSD so that SPME procedure could be applied to the quantitative analysis of agrochemical residues in tobacco.
There are many researches that have considered the distribution functions and appropriate covariates corresponding to the scores in order to improve the accuracy of a diagnostic test, including the ROC curve that is represented with the relations of the sensitivity and the specificity. The ROC analysis was used by the regression model including some covariates under the assumptions that its distribution function is known or estimable. In this work, we consider a general situation that both the distribution function and the elects of covariates are unknown. For the ROC analysis, the mixtures of normal distributions are used to estimate the distribution function fitted to the credit evaluation data that is consisted of the score random variable and two sub-populations of parameters. The AUC measure is explored to compare with the nonparametric and empirical ROC curve. We conclude that the method using normal mixtures is fitted to the classical one better than other methods.

A study has been made to investigate the high temperature deformation behavior of Ti-6Al-4V alloyand to predict the final microstructure under given forming conditions. Equiaxed and $Widmanst\ddot{a}tten$ microstructures of Ti-6Al-4V alloys were prepared as initial microstructures. By performing the compression tests at high temperatures$(700\~1100^{\circ}C)$ and at a wide range of strain rates$(10^{-4}\~10^2/s)$, various parameters such as strain rate sensitivity(m) and activation energy(Q) were calculated and used to establish constitutive equations. When the specimens were deformed up to strain 0.6, equiaxed microstructure did not show any significant changes in microstructure, while $Widmanst\ddot{a}tten$ microstructure revealed considerable flow softening, which was attributed to the globularization of a platelet at the temperature range of $800\~970^{\circ}C$ and at the strain rate range of $10^{-4}\~10^{-2}/s$. To predict the final microstructure after forming, finite element analysis was performed considering the microstructural evolution during the deformation. The grain size and the volume fraction of second phase of deformed body were predicted and compared with the experimental results.

This paper describes the result of the pump room fire analysis of the nuclear power plant using CFAST fire modeling code developed by NIST. The sensitivity studies are performed over the input parameters of CFAST: the constrained or unconstrained fire, Lower Oxygen Limit (LOL), Radiative Fraction (RF), and the opening ratio of the fire doors. According to the results, a pump room fire is the ventilation-controlled fire, so it is adequate that the value of LOL is 10% which is also the default value. It is anlayzed that the Radiative Fraction does not affect the temperature of the upper gas layer. It is appeared that the integrity of the cable located at the upper layer is maintained except for the safety pump at the fire area and the Conditional Core Damage Probability (CCDP) is 9.25E-07. It seems that CCDP result is more realistic and less uncertain than that of Fire Hazard Analysis (FHA).
A new identification method for a nonproportional damping matrix using the finite element (FE) model updating technique is proposed. Mass and stiffness matrices of the undamped system are identified by FE model updating method. Sensitivity analysis is used to update the FE model, and zero frequencies are considered as design parameters to supplement the information of vibration characteristics. The nonproportional damping matrix is identified through the proposed method. A numerical example is considered to verify the performance of the proposed method. As a result, the damping matrix of the nonproportional system is estimated accurately.

We studied the effect of $Co^{60}$ gamma-radiation on the FBGs by a variation of grating the fabrication parameters. The FBGs were fabricated in a different UV KrF laser intensity using the same boron co-doped photo-sensitive fiber and exposed to gamma-radiation up to a dose of 33.8 kGy. According to the experimental data and analysis results, We confirmed that the laser intensity for grating inscription has a highly effect on the radiation sensitivity of the FBGs and the radiation-induced Bragg wavelength shift by the change of laser process condition showed a difference more than about 30 %.

Irrational ordering decisions of supply chain members have been gaining growing importance in the area of supply chain management. Irrational ordering behaviors that deviate from the profit maximizing decisions in the newsvendor settings have observed with human experiments in recent research. These behaviors can be modeled with several typical decision bias elements. This bias in ordering decisions affects the performance of supply chain contracts designed based on the assumption that the supply chain members make optimal decisions, making it necessary to design supply chain contracts by considering the irrationality. The purpose of this research is to derive a method to design the revenue sharing contract that considers human irrationality in ordering decisions. This research considers a simple two-echelon supply chain consisting of one supplier and one retailer, where the supplier is assumed to be perfectly rational while the retailer making newsvendor type ordering decisions displays irrational ordering behaviors. Under this environment, this research analytically models the revenue sharing contract to maximize the total supply chain profit or the supplier's own profits while considering the three decision bias patterns of the retailer, which include the pull-to-center effect, the prospect theory, and the increased subjective sensitivity to the revenue sharing ratio. Irrationality parameters are measured through human experiments based on which and through numerical simulations, we showed that significant improvements in the supply chain performance can be achieved.
