A new load/displacement parameter method is proposed for the simultaneous control of applied loads and structural displacements at one or more points. The procedure is based on a generalized Riks' method, which utilizes load/displacement parameters as scaling factors to analyze post-buckling phenomena including snap-through or snap-back. The convergence characteristics are improved by employing new relaxation factors through an incremental displacement parameter, particularly in a region that exhibits severe numerical instability. The improved performance is illustrated by means of a numerical example.
It is important to find the equilibrium level of real interest rate for it affects real and financial sector of economy. However, it is difficult to find the equilibrium level because like the most macroeconomic model the real interest model has parameter instability problem caused by structural change and it is supported by various theories and definitions. Hence, in order to cover these problems structural change detection model of real interest rate is developed to combine the real interest rate equilibrium model and the procedure to detect structural change points. 3 equations are established to find various effects of other interest-related macroeconomic variables and from each equation, structural changes are found. Those structural change points are consistent with common expectation. Oil Crisis (December, 1987), the starting point of Economic Stabilization Policy (January, 1982), the starting point of capital liberalization (January, 1988), the starting and finishing points of Interest deregulation (January, 1992 and December, 1994), Foreign Exchange Crisis (December, 1977) are detected as important points. From the equation of fisher and real effects, real interest rate level is estimated as 4.09% (October, 1988) and dependent on the underlying model, it is estimated as 0%∼13.56% (October, 1988), so it varies so much. It is expected that this result is connected to the large scale simultaneous equations to detect the parameter instability in real time, so induces the flexible economic policies.

We present the radial variations of the scale heights and the vertical velocity dispersions in a sample of nearby edge-on galaxies using BIMA/CARMA $^{12}CO$ ($J=1{\rightarrow}0$), VLA/EVLA HI, and Spitzer $3.6{\mu}m$ data. Both the disk thicknesses and the velocity dispersions of gas and stars vary with radius, contrary to assumptions of previous studies. We investigate how the interstellar gas pressure and the gravitational instability parameter differ from values derived assuming constant velocity dispersions and scale heights. Using the measurement of the disk thicknesses and the derived radial profiles of gas and stars, we estimate the corresponding volume densities. The gravitational instability parameter Q follows a fairly uniform profile with radius and is ${\geq}1$ across the star-forming disk. The star formation law has a slope that is significantly different from those found in more face-on galaxy studies. The midplane gas pressure appears to roughly hold a power-law correlation with the midplane volume density ratio (${\rho}_{H2}/{\rho}_{HI}$).
Uncertainties in geomechanical input parameters which mainly related to inappropriate data acquisition and estimation due to lack of sufficient calibration information, have led wellbore instability not yet to be fully understood or addressed. This paper demonstrates a workflow of employing Quantitative Risk Assessment technique, considering these uncertainties in terms of rock properties, pore pressure and in-situ stresses to makes it possible to survey not just the likelihood of accomplishing a desired level of wellbore stability at a specific mud pressure, but also the influence of the uncertainty in each input parameter on the wellbore stability. This probabilistic methodology in conjunction with Monte Carlo numerical modeling techniques was applied to a case study of a well. The response surfaces analysis provides a measure of the effects of uncertainties in each input parameter on the predicted mud pressure from three widely used failure criteria, thereby provides a key measurement for data acquisition in the future wells to reduce the uncertainty. The results pointed out that the mud pressure is tremendously sensitive to UCS and SHmax which emphasize the significance of reliable determinations of these two parameters for safe drilling. On the other hand, the predicted safe mud window from Mogi-Coulomb is the widest while the Hoek-Brown is the narrowest and comparing the anticipated collapse failures from the failure criteria and breakouts observations from caliper data, indicates that Hoek-Brown overestimate the minimum mud weight to avoid breakouts while Mogi-Coulomb criterion give better forecast according to real observations.
This paper addresses the design of State-feedback Robust Guaranteed-Cost Controllers with controller gain variations. Since the unstructured uncertainty is the most dominant uncertainty in the modeling of the plant, the plant is assumed to have the unstructured uncertainty. It is necessary to take the controller parameter perturbation into consideration when we design the robust controller. Otherwise, the resulting controller may show the fragility property. That is to say, the extremely small controller parameter variation may result in the instability of the overall closed-loop system. Therefore, the design purpose is that the maximum performance index is guaranteed in the presence of the unstructured plant uncertainty and controller parameter variations ...
In thisstudy, the vibration problem ofthermo elastic carbon nanotubes conveying pulsating viscous nano fluid subjected to a longitudinal magnetic field is investigated via Euler-Bernoulli beam model. The controlling partial differential equation of motion is arrived by adopting Eringen's non local theory. The instability domain and pulsation frequency of the CNT is obtained through the Galerkin's method. The numerical evaluation of thisstudy is devised by Haar wavelet method (HWM). Then, the proposed model is validated by analyzing the critical buckling load computed in presentstudy with the literature. Finally, the numerical calculation ofsystem parameters are shown as dispersion graphs and tables over non local parameter, magnetic flux, temperature difference, Knudsen number and viscous parameter.

A new device injecting secondary fuel behind flameholder was invented and tested in order to reduce low frequency combustion instability of combustor using V-gutter flameholder. Specially designed combustion device could make large combustion instability up to 180 dB successfully, and newly invented device made a success to reduce 110~120Hz low frequency pressure pulsation up to 84%. It was found that the fuel flow rate of secondary fuel supplying behind flameholder was the only parameter which dominates reduction of instability. It is considered that stabilized flame with sufficient secondary fuel can lead to break the connection between combustion system and acoustic system due to independence of flame from fluctuation of main fuel resulted from synchronization with acoustic wave.

A growing bubble can be squeezed for water, and it will then encounter flow instability, which reverses toward upstream in straight micro-channels. To reduce the flow instability, a micro-channel that expands at the downstream end has been found to be effective. In the expanding area, a growing bubble will tend to move downstream because the net surface tension force of a vapor-liquid interface is inversely proportional to the local radius of curvature. We propose a static flow instability model and validate it experimentally. Moreover, we apply the local-instability parameter concept to the real design of a stable evaporative micro-channel with an expanding area. Based on the localinstability model, we establish a static design for stable expanding evaporative micro-channels.
The current study examines the effect of the analytical parameter values on the theoretical forming limit diagram (FLD) based on the Marciniak-Kuczynski model (M-K model). Tensile tests were performed to obtain stress-strain curves and determine the anisotropic properties in the rolling, transverse and diagonal direction of SPCC sheet materials. The experimental forming limit curve for SPCC sheet material was obtained by limiting dome stretching tests. To predict the theoretical FLD based on the M-K model, the Hosford 79 yield function was employed. The effects of three analytical parameters - the exponent of the yield function, the initial imperfection parameter and the fracture criterion parameter - on the M-K model, were examined and the results of the theoretical FLD were compared to the experimentally measured FLD. It was found that the various analytical parameters should be carefully considered to reasonably predict the theoretical FLD. The comparison of the acceptable forming limit area between the theoretical and experimental FLD is used to compare the two diagrams.
