  • This paper deals with the problem of testing mean change with one change-point with the normal random variables. We propose a test with the mean difference for change in a location parameter. A power comparison study of various change-point test statistics is performed via Monte Carlo simulation with S-plus software.

  • An one dimensional atmosphere-canopy-soil interaction model is developed to estimate of the heat budget parameter in the atmospheric boundary layer. The canopy model is composed of the three balance equations of energy, temperature, moisture at ground surface and canopy layer with three independent variables of Tf(foliage temperature), Tg(ground temperature), and qg(ground specific humidity). The model was verilied by comparative study with OSUID(Oregon State University One Dimensional Model) proved in HAPEX-MOBILHY experiment. Also we applied this model in two dimensional land-sea breeze circulation. According to the results of this study, surface characteristics considering canopy acted importantly upon the simulation of meso-scale circulation. The factors which used in the numerical experiment are as follows ; the change for a sort of soil(sand and peat), the change for shielding factor, and the change for a kind of vegetation.

  • We investigate a procedure which detects the parameter change point in AR(1) by Bayesian Approach using Jeffrey prior, for example, coefficient change point, variance change point, coefficient and variance change point, etc. And we apply our procedure to the simulated data.

  • The Bayes factor provides a possible hierarchical Bayesian approach for studying the change point problems. A hypothesis for testing change versus no change is considered using predictive distributions. When the underlying distribution is in one-parameter exponential family with conjugate priors, Bayes factors are investigated to the hypothesis above. Finally one example is provided .

  • To achieve a high performance in direct vector control of induction motor, it is essential to correct estimation of rotor flux. The accuracy of flux observers for induction machines inherently depends on parameter sensitivity. This paper presents an analysis method for conventional flux observers using Parameter Sensitivity. The Parameter sensitivity is defined as the ratio of the percentage change in the system transfer function to the percentage change of the parameter variation. We define the ratio between real flux and estimated flux as the transfer function, and analyzed a parameter sensitivity of this transfer function by simulation.

  • In this paper, we deal with the teaching of parameter in the school mathematics. The roles of letters become different according to the letters-used context. That is, the meaning of letters may change in the course of being used. But specifying the roles of letters without understanding the distinction between the roles is not enough for students to learn the meaning of variables, specifically that of parameters. Therefore, the parameter-learning should focus on the dynamic change of roles. That implies flexible thinking and changing of perspectives.

  • In this paper the parameter change problem in the stationary time series is considered. We propose a cumulative sum (CUSUM) of squares-type test statistic for detection of parameter changes in the AR(1) process. The proposed test statistic is based on the CUSIM of the squared observations and is shown to converge to a standard Brownian bridge. Simulations are performed to evaluate the performance of the proposed statistic and a real example is provided to illustrate the procedure.

  • Pressure dependance of Hammett reaction parameter was analyzed and the free energy relationship for the pressure change derived thermodynamically. There are insufficient data in the literature to test the relation derived but from some limited previous data it could be concluded that the parameter ${\rho}$ is dependent on pressure and increase or decrease as pressure increase for a given reaction series.

  • A knowledge-based system with CAD is widely used to implement a designer's know-how and a routine calculation within a system. An engineer needs to change several design parameters in an early design stage. However it is not easy to change the design parameters when it needs to update an existing model and data. In this paper, a module has been proposed to make it easy to change the design parameter so that the engineer can easily update and change the design model. Also a flexible interface of the module can easily add or extract the design knowledge.
