  • In this paper, a novel utility connected photovoltaic power generation system with unity power factor and uninterruptable power system facility and its control strategy are proposed. The proposed photovoltaic(PV) system is connected in parallel between utility and load. The PV system provides an uninterruptable voltage to load, a maximum power tracking to solar array, and power factor correction to the utility. The proposed system has the following advantages compared with the conventional utility connected PV system. 1. Harmonic elimination Function 2. Feeding the photovoltaic energy to the utility 3. Providing the uninterruptible power source along battery to the load In case that the photovoltaic array system is on the poor power generation, the battery and capacitor of the PV system are charged by three phase utility source and the inverter in the PV system only provides the reactive current to eliminate the harmonic current exited on the utility. In the normal operation mode, the PV system supplies active power to load and reactive power to utility in order to maintain the unity power factor and to regulate ac load voltage.

Flow and Heat Transfer Characteristics in a Slot Film Cooling with Various Flow Inlet Conditions (냉각유로방식 변화에 따른 슬롯 막냉각에서의 유동 및 열전달 특성)

  • An experimental investigation is conducted to improve a slot film cooling system which can be used for the cooling of gas turbine combustor liner. The tangential slots are constructed of discrete holes with different injection types which are the parallel, vertical, and combined to the slot lip. The investigation is focused on the coolant supply systems of normal-, parallel-, and counter-flow paths to the mainstream direction. A naphthalene sublimation technique has been employed to measure the local heat/mass transfer coefficients in a slot with various injection types and coolant feeding directions. The velocity distributions at the exit of slot lip for the parallel and vertical injection types are fairly uniform with mild periodical patterns with respect to the hole positions. However, the combined injection type increases the nonuniformity of flow distribution with the period equaling twice that of hole-to-hole pitch due to splitting and merging of the ejected flows. The secondary flow at the lip exit has uniform velocity distributions for the parallel and vertical injection types, which are similar to the results of a two-dimensional slot injection. In the results of local heat/mass transfer coefficient, the best cooling performance inside the slot is obtained with the vertical injection type among the three different injection types due to the effect of jet impingement. The lateral distributions of Sh with the parallel- and counter-flow paths are more uniform than the normal flow path. The averaged Sh with the injection holes are $2{\sim}5$ times higher than that of a smooth two-dimensional slot path.

  • We design and fabricate slot array antenna for BMWS(Broadband Multimedia Wireless System) applications. This paper presents a simple feed structure, which consists of two horns and a parallel-plate waveguide, because antennas operating at 40.5 GHz~43.5 GHz have considerable feeding losses. The simple feed structure has the advantages of high-efficiency and mass-production. The fabricated antenna has a gain of 25.8 dBi with a sidelobe level below -18 ㏈ and a 3 ㏈ beamwidth of approximately 3$^{\circ}$ in the E-plane. In case of H-plane, a 3 ㏈ beamwidth is 17$^{\circ}$ and a sidelobe level is suppressed to below -27 ㏈. The experimental results are in good agreement with the simulation results. The authors expect that narrow 3 ㏈ beamwidth is obtained by combining a few proposed slot array antennas in parallel.

Toward the Application of a Critical-Chain-Project-Management-based Framework on Max-plus Linear Systems

  • We focus on discrete event systems with a structure of parallel processing, synchronization, and no-concurrency. We use max-plus algebra, which is an effective approach for controller design for this type of system, for modeling and formulation. Since a typical feature of this type of system is that the initial schedule is frequently changed due to unpredictable disturbances, we use a simple model and numerical examples to examine the possibility of applying the concepts of the feeding buffer and the project buffer of critical chain project management (CCPM) on max-plus linear discrete event systems in order to control the occurrence of an undesirable state change. The application of a CCPM-based framework on a max-plus linear discrete event system was proven to be effective.

  • This paper describes a theoretical and experimental investigation into an active vibration isolation system in which four electromagnetic actuators are installed in parallel with each of four passive mounts placed between a piece of equipment and a vibrating base structure. Decentralised velocity feedback control is employed, where each actuator is operated independently by feeding back the absolute equipment velocity at the same location. Although one end of each actuator acts at the sensor positions on the equipment, the control system is not collocated because of the reactive forces acting on the flexible base structure, whose dynamics are strongly coupled with the mounted equipment. Isolation of low frequency vibration is considered where the equipment can be modelled as a rigid body and the mounts as lumped parameter springs and dampers. Control mechanisms are discussed, and some experimental and simulation results are reported.

  • This study presents an approach to model the Electric Railway System with the common grounding based on the 8-port network model and to analyse traction power feeding system focused on the amplification of harmonic current. The entire system can be easily modeled by the combination of 8-port representation of each component in parallel and/or series. Through the research, 8-port network model which can be effectively applied to harmonic analysis is derived.

  • A systolic array is a parallel processing system which consists of processing elements of basic computation capabilities, connected with regular and local communication lines. It has been known that a systolic array is on of effective systems to solve complicated communication problems occurred between densely connected neurons on ANN(Artificial Neural Network). In this paper, a systolic array simulator for the back-propagation ANN, which automatically constructs the proper systolic array for a given number of neurons of the ANN, is designed and constructed. With animation techniques of the simulators, it is easy for users to be able to examine the execution of the back-propagation algorithm on the designed systolic array step by step. Moreover the simulator can perform forward and backward operations of the back-propagation algorithm either in sequence or in parallel on the designed systolic array. Parallel execution can be performed by feeding continuous input patterns and by executing bidirectional propagations on all of processing elements of a systolic array at the same time.

  • The mouthparts of the Apionidae are almost of the same structures as in the Curculionidae feeding soft plant tissues, and two subfamilies in the current system are well supported by their structures. The subfamilies Apioninae and Nanophyinae are clearly characterized as follows. In Apioninae, clypeal margin sinuate; mandibles meet anteropo-steriorly when retracted and more or less curved internally; maxillary palpi two-segmented, with large palpiger; labial palpi one-segmented; prementum parallel-sided, longer than wide. In Nanophyinae, clypeal margin with two to three notches in the middle; mandibles meet anteroposteriorly when retracted and more or less curved internally; maxillary palpi three-segmented, palpiger about as great as stipes; labial palpi two-segmented, separated to each other by the apical protrusion of prementum; prementum about as long as wide.   • Livestock disease is a very important issue in the livestock industry because if livestock disease is not responded quickly enough, its damage can be devastating. To solve the issues involving the occurrence of livestock disease, it is necessary to diagnose in advance the status of livestock disease and develop systematic and scientific livestock feeding technologies. However, there is a lack of domestic studies on such technologies in Korea. This paper, therefore, proposes Livestock Disease Forecasting and Livestock Farm Integrated Control System using Cloud Computing to quickly manage livestock disease. The proposed system collects a variety of livestock data from wireless sensor networks and application. Moreover, it saves and manages the data with the use of the column-oriented database Hadoop HBase, a column-oriented database management system. This provides livestock disease forecasting and livestock farm integrated controlling service through MapReduce Model-based parallel data processing. Lastly, it also provides REST-based web service so that users can receive the service on various platforms, such as PCs or mobile devices.

  • In this paper, we have designed microstrip antenna of 800[MHz] band. It will be able to integrate TRS(Trunked Radio System), GSM(Global System for Mobile telecommunication) band including the CDMA(Code Division Multiple Access) band. we designed repeater and a base station antenna which is possible at the ship and marine of safety. It is improves a narrow bandwidth problem of microstrip antenna. It had L-shaped feeding structure at a rectangular patch and added the parallel L-slot that used a duplex resonance effect. Also for the improvement of profit the stack with the perpendicular. Designed frequency bandwith(VSWR 2:1) of the antenna showed good characteristic of 789${\sim}$1046[MHz] to 292[MHz](36%). Also the E-plan and H-plan all profit 6.4[dBi] above, the 3[dB] beam width showed the characteristic over the E-plan $44.7^{\circ} and H-plan $61.8^{\circ} to be improved.
