  • In a railway vehicle, corrugated steel panel is widely used for the floor structure because of its high bending stiffness and light weight. However, this panel shows lower sound insulation performance than that of the flat plate with the same weight. Especially, in a particular frequency region, transmission loss(TL) rapidly decreases and it results in the deterioration of sound insulation performance of the overall floor structure. This study identifies that the severe decrease in TL is caused from the local resonance of the periodic corrugated structure. TL decrease by local resonance is investigated by experiment and finite element analysis. Finally, design modification of the corrugation is proposed to improve TL and the effect is verified by experiment.

  • The objective of this paper is to design stamping die of inner reinforcement panel with DL 950 advanced high strength steel as stamping materials through numerical analyses and experiments. The stamping process was designed as bending dominant process consisting of 1 step of notching and 4 steps of bending processes. In order to obtain a proper design of the stamping die, various three-dimensional elasto-plastic finite element analyses were performed using a commercial code AUTOFORM V4.2. Design parameter of stamping die was chosen as the corner radius of the stamping die for each step. From the results of the FE analysis, feasible corner radii of the stamping die, which can minimize the deviation of corner angle of the stamped part from design data, and forming load for each part were estimated. Stamping experiments were carried out using the manufactured stamping die according to the proposed die design. The results of experiments were shown that the stamping die can successfully manufacture the inner reinforcement panel with DL 950 advanced high strength steel as base stamping material.

  • This study is about single-layered $Chog{\breve{a}}ri$ excavated from SongHyosang(宋效商, 1430-1490, SHS hereafter), SongHeeJong(宋喜從, the late 1500s, SHJ hereafter) tombs. There are 7 single-layered $Chog{\breve{a}}ris$ for men. We focus on comparison of their design and sowing method. 1. Design: Investigating collar, $Chog{\breve{a}}ris$ from SHS have MokpanGit and $Chog{\breve{a}}ris$ from SHJ have KalGit. KalGit has been seen from SHJ to 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. After the late 1500s, there is no MokpanGit single-laTered $Chog{\breve{a}}ri$ for men. Side panel under arm has various shapes(triangle, trapezoid, triangle+trapezoid) in 15th century. After the late 1500s, It changes into no side panel. Two $Chog{\breve{a}}ris$ with no side panel from SHJ reveals that the late 1500s is a period of transition. 2. Sewing method: First, researching lengthwise grainline of the fly, the left fly has lengthwise grainline outside In four, inside in three. The right fly has lengthwise grainline outside in just one, the others have lengthwise grainline inside. Compared with today's way, there is a great difference, but in those times there isn't an established rule. This is true of side panel under arm. The sewing method are backstitch, running stitch, and hemming. Researching the construction method of seam, in putting two selvages together, open seam and plain seam are used. In putting selvage and bias, bias and bias together, flat felled seam and french seam are used. This study shows that single-layered $Chog{\breve{a}}ri$ far men from 15C. to 16C. has changes of design such as collar(Git) and side panel undo. arm. But there is little change in sewing method.

  • The Nowadays, LED head lamp has been used instead of halogen lamp at automotive head lamp. Inside this LED head lamp, there is a radiant heat panel which has the role to have the considerable influence upon LED life. As the radiant heat panel absorbs the heat from medium, the overheat of diode can prevented. in this study, the heat transfer and thermal stress are investigated according to the configuration of radiant heat panel. As the result of this study, the heat at model 1 decreases in comparison with model 2 and model 1 in design has the durability more than model 2. As the convergence technique is grafted on the design of radiant heat panel, the esthetic sense can be shown at the automotive head lamp.

  • The outer surfaces of free form buildings contain panels with two-directional curvatures. To construct these panels, complex geometric surfaces should be divided into forms and sizes that can be manufactured and constructed efficiently. Because the bigger the curvatures of these panel, the more expensive the construction costs, these complex curvatures should go through optimal process of reinterpretation to minimize the curved surfaces with complex two-directional curvatures, which is called panel optimization. Small construction and design companies have trouble in calculating even rough estimate and cannot adjust expected construction cost of the panels based on comparison of design alternatives in conjunction with panel optimization process due to lack of knowledge and experience. This study conducts the research that can support designers' cost decision-making in the design stage of the free form buildings with respect to the panel optimization process. A 3D commercial application specialized to modeling free form shapes is used for the purpose.

  • Slab panels are very important to develop asphalt concrete (AC) track for minimizing the roadbed stress due to the train load and reducing the plastic deformation of infrared-sensitive AC. In this study, the slab panel for AC track was developed through the shape design and the indoor performance test and its structural integrity has been investigated through the finite element analysis under the flexural tensile stress and the design moment according to various static load combination by KRL-2012 standard train load model and KR-C code. In order to verify the suitability of the slab panel for AC track, static bending strength test and dynamic bending strength test were performed according to EN 13230-2. Results show that the slab panel for AC track satisfies all the performance standards required by European standards such as crack loads and crack extension.

  • This paper proposes an approach to detect unintended deflections in an automotive outer panel. Conventionally, the detection of unintended deflections has been performed by experienced works, and it requires much amount of time and efforts. The motivation of this work is to reduce such efforts by providing an automated detection methodology. For the detection of unintended deflections, we make use of the measured data from an optical scanner which can be considered as a Z-map data. The proposed approach consists of four major steps; 1) measured data acquisition for an automotive outer panel, 2) identification of shape features, 3) removal of shape features, and 4) detection of unintended deflections via curvature analysis.

  • Laser welded tailored blanks(TB) are increasingly used in automotive parts. Among these, TB side panel has forming difficulties in stretch flanging areas such as front and center pillar lower region. To avoid splits in the stretch flanging areas, Proper design of blank shape and drawbeads are essential In this study, the forming simulaton is carried out to investigate the influences of blank shape and drawbeads on stretch flange formability of different thickness TB. And an optimization procedure including the effects of both the blank design and drawbeads is presented. The optimization procedure proposed in this study is expected to be effectively used in blank and die design of TB side panel.

  • Finite element method is very effective method to simulate the forming processes with good prediction of the deformation behaviour. For the finite element modeling of sheet mental forming the accurate tool model is required. Due to the geometrical complexity of real-size part stamping tools it is hard to make FE model for real-size auto-body stamping parts. In this paper, it was focussed on the drawability factors on auto-body panel stamping by AUTOFORM with using tool planning alloy to reduce law price as well as high precision from Design Optimization of die. According to this study, the results of simulation will give engineers good information to access the Design Optimization of die.

  • A shape optimization of stiffener was conducted to increase buckling load or failure load with stiffened laminated composite panel of I-type under compression loading. Design variables are cap length, web length, and/or thickness under the constraint of volume constancy. The objective function is buckling load and failure load of post-buckling based on Tsai-Hill theory using ABAQUS 5.8 for analysis and Optimizer on Broydon-Fletcher Goldfarb-Sharno Method and Augmented Lagrange Multiplier Method. The effects of relative length of a web and a cap of stiffener on buckling load and failure load of post-buckling were investigated with the results of optimum design.
