  • The six current models for estimating pan coefficient were applied to test the applicability of models in Seoul, South Korea. The models are Cuenca's model, Snyder's model, Pereira et al.'s model, Allen et al.'s model, Orang's model, and Raghuwanshi and Wallender's model. The estimated pan coefficients were compared with measured one. The measured pan coefficient was obtained by using measured pan evaporation and FAO Penman-Monteith reference evapotranspiration. Estimated evaporation by using estimated pan coefficients was compared with measured one. Furthermore, model for estimating pan coefficient in Seoul was developed. When applying 6 current models for 10 m, 15 m and 20 m fetch distances, pan coefficient estimates from Snyder's model were most similar to measured pan coefficients for all fetch distances. On the other hand, pan coefficient estimates from Pereira et al.'s model were most different from measured one. Therefore, model for estimating pan coefficient in Seoul was developed by modifying Snyder's model. When applying developed model, estimated monthly average evaporation was 92.1 mm for 10 m, 15 m and 20 m fetch distances and measured one was 91.9 mm, indicating that evaporation estimate from developed model is closest to measured one, compared with those of current models.

  • The effects of monthly meteorological data measured at 11 stations in South Korea on pan coefficient were analyzed to develop the four types of multiple linear regression models for estimating pan coefficients. To evaluate the applicability of developed models, the models were compared with six previous models. Pan coefficients were most affected by air temperature for January, February, March, July, November and December, and by solar radiation for other months. On the whole, for 12 months of the year, the effects of wind speed and relative humidity on pan coefficient were less significant, compared with those of air temperature and solar radiation. For all meteorological stations and months, the model developed by applying 5 independent variables (wind speed, relative humidity, air temperature, ratio of sunshine duration and daylight duration, and solar radiation) for each station was the most effective for evaporation estimation. The model validation results indicate that the multiple linear regression models can be applied to some particular stations and months.

  • Cascade-Correlation Neural Networks Model(CCNNM) is used to estimate daily evaporation using limited climatical variables such as atmospheric temperature, dewpoint temperature, relative humidity, wind speed, sunshine duration and radiation. DeBruln equation is applied to estimate daily free-surface evaporation. It is converted into pan evaporation using pan coefficient. The results of CCNNM shows better than those of Debruin equation. This research represents that the strong nonlinear relationship such as evaporation modeling can be generalized by the CCNNM ; a special type of Backpropagation algorithm Neural Networks Model.

  • In this paper, a current-mode analog variable finite-impulse-response (FIR) filter with variable tap coefficient circuits is proposed for frequency selective wireless personal area network(WPAN) system or terminals. From the circuit simulation the operation of the 7-tap FIR filter is confirmed. The 0.0625-step tap coefficient circuit is designed and fabricated with $0.8[{\mu}m]$ CMOS technology. The proposed FIR filter has a variable length of taps and variable coefficients, so it has a potential for being used to frequency selective WPAN system or frequency selective wireless communication terminals.

  • The performance of the improvement method of spatial resolution for satellite images based on the generalized inverse matrix is superior to the conventional methods. But, this method calculates the coefficient values for extracting the spatial information from the relation between a small pixel and large pixels. Accordingly it has the problem of remaining the blocky patterns at the result image. In this paper, a new generalized inverse matrix method is proposed which is different in the calculation method of coefficient values for extracting the spatial information. In this proposed metod, it calculates the coefficient values for extracting the spatial information from the relation between a small pixel and small pixels. Consequently it can improve the spatial resolution more efficiently without remaining the blocky patterns at the result image. The effectiveness of the proposed method is varified by simulation experiments with real TM image data.

  • This paper proposes a scheme to reduce spectral distortion in PAN-sharpening which produces a MultiSpectral image (MS) with the higher resolution of PANchromatic image (PAN). The spectral distortion results from reconstructing spatial details of PAN image in the MS image. The proposed method employs Spectral Adjustment and Anisotropic Diffusion to make a reduction of the distortion. The spectral adjustment makes the PAN-sharpened image agree with the original MS image, but causes block distortion because the spectral response of a pixel in the lower resolution is assumed to be equal to the average response of the pixels belonging to the corresponding area in the higher resolution at a same wavelength. The block distortion is corrected by the anisotropic diffusion which uses a conduct coefficient estimating from a local computation of PAN image. It results in yielding a PAN-sharpened image with the spatial structure of PAN image. GSA is one of PAN-sharpening techniques which are efficient in computation as well as good in quantitative quality evaluation. This study suggests the GSA as a preliminary PAN-sharpening method. Two data sets were used in the experiment to evaluate the proposed scheme. One is a Dubaisat-2 image of $1024{\times}1024$ observed at Los Angeles area, USA on February, 2014, the other is an IKONOS of $2048{\times}2048$ observed at Anyang, Korea on March, 2002. The experimental results show that the proposed scheme yields the PAN-sharpened images which have much less spectral distortion and better quantitative quality evaluation.

  • This article includes hydrometeorological analysis of evapotranspiration and precipitation, which are used available basic data for a certain basin water budget. Evapotranspiration on water surface, bare soil and rice fields is directly measured by Thornthwaite's type Lysimeter and on water surface and vegetables computed using the Penman's equation. Areal precipitation is analized through the Thiessen method and arithmatic mean method. It is interested fact that the correlation coefficient for Class A Pan's evaporation vs. the actual evapotranspiration is the highest value among the coefficients for different type evaporimeter and Penman equation, and evaporation ratio on rice field's evapotranspiration vs. Class A Pan's evaporation is 1. 5-2. 3.

  • The evapotranspiration (ET) is one of the most important factor in the hydrological cycle. In this study, remote sensing based ET algorithm using Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) was considered. Then, Priestley-Taylor algorithm was used for estimation of potential evapotranspiration in South Korea, and its spatial distribution was analyzed. Overall applicability between estimated potential evapotranspiration and weather station pan evaporation in Nakdong river basin was represented. The results using small pan showed that correlation coefficient in Pohang and Moonkyung Station was 0.70 and 0.55, respectively. However, the results using large pan showed correlation coefficient in Pohang and Moonkyung Station was 0.62 and 0.52, respectively.

  • In this manuscript, a new pansharpening model based on Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) was developed. Dilated convolution, which is one of the representative convolution technologies in CNN, was applied to the model by making it deep and complex to improve the performance of the deep learning architecture. Based on the dilated convolution, the residual network is used to enhance the efficiency of training process. In addition, we consider the spatial correlation coefficient in the loss function with traditional L1 norm. We experimented with Dilated Residual Networks (DRNet), which is applied to the structure using only a panchromatic (PAN) image and using both a PAN and multispectral (MS) image. In the experiments using KOMPSAT-3A, DRNet using both a PAN and MS image tended to overfit the spectral characteristics, and DRNet using only a PAN image showed a spatial resolution improvement over existing CNN-based models.
