  • In seismic design and structural assessment using the displacement-based approach, real structures are simplified into equivalent single-degree-of-freedom systems with equivalent properties, namely period and damping. In this work, equations for the optimal pair of equivalent properties are derived using statistical procedures on equivalent linearization and defined in terms of the ductility ratio and initial period of vibration. The modified Clough hysteretic model and 30 artificial accelerograms, compatible with the acceleration spectra for firm and soft soils, defined by the Japanese Design Specifications for Highway Bridges are used in the analysis. The results obtained with the proposed equations are verified and their limitations are discussed.

  • Given two stereo images of a scene, it is possible to recover a 3D understanding of the scene. This is the primary way that the human visual system estimates depth. This process is useful in applications like robotics, where depth sensors may be expensive but a pair of cameras is relatively cheap. In this work, we combined our interests to implement a graph cut algorithm for stereo correspondence, and performed evaluation against a baseline algorithm using normalized cross correlation across a variety of metrics. Experimental trials revealed that the proposed descriptor exhibited a significant improvement, compared to the other existing methods.

  • A computer vision technique of estimating the location of an unmanned ground vehicle is proposed. Identifying the location of the unmaned vehicle is very important task for automatic navigation of the vehicle. Conventional positioning sensors may fail to work properly in some real situations due to internal and external interferences. Given a DSM(Digital Surface Map), location of the vehicle can be estimated by the registration of the DSM and multiview range images obtained at the vehicle. Registration of the DSM and range images yields the 3D transformation from the coordinates of the range sensor to the reference coordinates of the DSM. To estimate the vehicle position, we first register a range image to the DSM coarsely and then refine the result. For coarse registration, we employ a fast random sample matching method. After the initial position is estimated and refined, all subsequent range images are registered by applying a pair-wise registration technique between range images. To reduce the accumulation error of pair-wise registration, we periodically refine the registration between range images and the DSM. Virtual environment is established to perform several experiments using a virtual vehicle. Range images are created based on the DSM by modeling a real 3D sensor. The vehicle moves along three different path while acquiring range images. Experimental results show that registration error is about under 1.3m in average.

  • Ray-based model for the calculation of the ocean surface-generated ambient noise coherence function has the form of double integral with respect to a range and a bearing angle. While the theoretical consideration about its numerical implementations was partly given in the past work of authors, the numerical results on the ocean environment have not been presented yet. In this paper, we perform numerical experiments for shallow and deep water environments. It is shown that the coherence function depends on the ocean sediment sound speed, and is more sensitive to the ocean sediment sound speed in the shallow water than in the deep water. Similar trend is also observed for varying the orientation of hydrophone pair. In addition, a post-processing technique is proposed in order to plot the noise intensity for the noise receiving angle. This procedure will supplement the weakness of the ray-based model about the output data type compared to the semi-analytic model of Harrison.

  • A method for calculation of two center overlap integrals for a pair of Slater type orbitals was developed by Mulliken et al. In this method the spherical polar coordinates for a pair of Slater type orbitals located at two different points are required to be transformed into a spheroidal coordinate set for calculation of two center overlap integrals. A new method, the expansion method for spherical harmonics, in which Slater type orbitals, located at two different points, are expressed in a common coordinate system has been applied for computation of two center overlap integrals. The new method for computation of two center overlap integrals is required to translate Slater type orbitals centered at two different points into the reference point for computation of two center overlap integrals. This work has been expanded the expansion method for spherical harmonics for computation of two center overlap integrals to $|3s{\g}$, $|5s{\g}$ and $|5s{\g}$. Master formulas for two center overlap integrals are derived for these orbitals, using the general expansion formulas. The numerical values of the two center overlap integrals evaluated for a hypothetical NO molecule are in agreement with those of the previous works.

  • A method for designing a broadband transducer was investigated experimentally. Control of the resonance frequency of a Piezoelectric circular transducer with two pairs of electrodes was achieved by varying the inductance of external coil connected across the terminal of one pair of electrodes of transducer. The conductance curves of transducer in water were obtained as a function of the inductance value in mH of the coil used in the tuning. As the tuning inductance is increased in value, the resonance frequency is reduced toward the fundamental frequency of 50 kHz. This interesting result suggest that it is possible to produce a continuously tunable transducer covering a frequency range between 61.3 kHz and 121.7 kHz by varying the inductance value of external coil from 2.7 mH to 15.0 mH. One of other problems in the design and construction of such broadband transducer is the transducer efficiency, but this will be the subject of our future work.

  • This paper deals with the subsequence searching problem under time-warping in sequence databases. Our work is motivated by the observation that subsequence searches slow down quadratically as the average length of data sequences increases. To resolve this problem, the Segment-Based Approach for Subsequence Searches (SBSS) is proposed. The SBASS divides data and query sequences into a series of segments, and retrieves all data subsequences that satisfy the two conditions: (1) the number of segments is the same as the number of segments in a query sequence, and (2) the distance of every segment pair is less than or equal to a tolerance. Our segmentation scheme allows segments to have different lengths; thus we employ the time warping distance as a similarity measure for each segment pair. For efficient retrieval of similar subsequences, we extract feature vectors from all data segments exploiting their monotonically changing properties, and build a spatial index using feature vectors. Using this index, queries are processed with the four steps: (1) R-tree filtering, (2) feature filtering, (3) successor filtering, and (4) post-processing. The effectiveness of our approach is verified through extensive experiments.

  • Parallel administration of numerous drugs increases Drug-Drug Interaction (DDI) because one drug might affect the activity of other drugs. DDI causes negative or positive impacts on therapeutic output. So there is a need to discover DDI to enhance the safety of consuming drugs. Though there are several DDI system exist to predict an interaction but nowadays it becomes impossible to maintain with a large number of biomedical texts which is getting increased rapidly. Mostly the existing DDI system address classification issues, and especially rely on handcrafted features, and some features which are based on particular domain tools. The objective of this paper to predict DDI in a way to avoid adverse effects caused by the consumed drugs, to predict similarities among the drug, Drug pair similarity calculation is performed. The best optimal weight is obtained with the support of KHA. LSTM function with weight obtained from KHA and makes bets prediction of DDI. Our methodology depends on (LSTM-KHA) for the detection of DDI. Similarities among the drugs are measured with the help of drug pair similarity calculation. KHA is used to find the best optimal weight which is used by LSTM to predict DDI. The experimental result was conducted on three kinds of dataset DS1 (CYP), DS2 (NCYP), and DS3 taken from the DrugBank database. To evaluate the performance of proposed work in terms of performance metrics like accuracy, recall, precision, F-measures, AUPR, AUC, and AUROC. Experimental results express that the proposed method outperforms other existing methods for predicting DDI. LSTMKHA produces reasonable performance metrics when compared to the existing DDI prediction model.

  • Background: Musculoskeletal pain (MSP) is a common and disabling problem among carpet weavers and is linked to physical and psychosocial factors of work. This study aimed to determine the prevalence of MSP, its psychosocial risk factors, and association of pain in each pair of anatomical sites among carpet weavers. Methods: A cross-sectional study was performed among 546 hand-woven carpet weavers in rural small-scale workshops of Iran. Data were collected by using parts of a standardized CUPID (Cultural and Psychosocial Influences on Disability) questionnaire focused on MSP in 10 body sites, including the low-back, neck, both right and left shoulders, elbows, wrists/hands, individual, physical and psychosocial risk factors. Statistical analysis was performed applying logistic regression models. Results: Prevalence of MSP in at least one body sitewas 51.7% over the past month. The most common sites were low back and right shoulder pain 27.4% and 20.1%, respectively. A significant difference was found between the mean number of painful anatomical sites and the level of education, age, physical loading at work, time pressure, lack of support, and job dissatisfaction. In pairwise comparisons, strongest association was found between pain in each bilateral anatomical site (odds ratio = 11.6-35.3; p < 0.001). Conclusion: In home-based workshops of carpet weaving, psychosocial factors and physical loading were associated with MSP. This finding is consistent with studies conducted among other jobs. Considering the preventive programs, the same amount of attention should be paid to psychosocial risk factors and physical loading. Also, further longitudinal studies are needed to investigate the relationship of psychological factors.

  • This research approached electrical characteristics of organic light emitting diodes getting into the spotlight by next generation display device. Basic mechanism of OLED's emitting is known as that electron by cathode of lower work function and hole by anode of higher work function are driven and recombine exciton-state being flowed in emitting material layer passing carrier transport layer In order to make many electron-hole pairs, we must manufacture device in multi-layer structure. There are Carrier Injection Layer(CIL), Carrier Transport Layer(CTL) and Emitting Material Layer(EML) in multi-layer structure. It is important that regulate thickness of layer for high luminescence efficiency and set mobility of hole and electron.
