The effect of the initial packing structure on the plasticity of amorphous alloys was investigated by tracing the structural evolution of the amorphous solid inside a shear band. According to the molecular dynamics simulations, the structural evolution of the amorphous solids inside the shear band was more abrupt in the alloy with a higher initial packing density. Such a difference in the structural evolution within the shear band observed from the amorphous alloys with different initial packing density is believed to cause different degrees of shear localization, providing an answer to the fundamental question of why amorphous alloys show different plasticity. We clarify the structural origin of the plasticity of bulk amorphous alloys by exploring the microstructural aspects in view of the structural disordering, disorder-induced softening, and shear localization using molecular dynamics simulations based on the recently developed MEAM (modified embedded atom method) potential.

Injection molding is one of the most general manufacturing processes of polymers. The deformation of final molded parts occurs because of the change of temperature and pressure during injection molding process. The deformation of injection molded parts depends on many operational conditions, such as, melt temperature, injection speed, mold temperature, packing pressure, and the structure of mold. In the present paper, injection molding experiments were performed to find the process conditions to affect the average shrinkage in thickness direction and the replication ratio of fine patterns on the surface for the final injection-molded LGP samples. As a results, in the cases of PC(Polycarbonate), when the melt temperature was under $285^{\circ}C$, both average shrinkage and replication ratios were mainly influenced by packing pressure. However, the replication ratio was more influenced by melt temperature than packing pressure for the cases of higher melt temperature.

The skin's barrier structure is formed through the differentiation process of epidermal keratinocytes. It consists of corneocytes that are composed of keratin proteins and lipids that fill the spaces between them. During this process, the lipids such as phospholipid that made up the membrane of the basal layer cells of the epidermis are decomposed and replaced with newly synthesized components like ceramide. In this study, the effect of ginsenoside Rg3 components on the packing of the intercellular lipid structure of the skin barrier and the barrier function was confirmed. To confirm this, Rg3 components were treated during the differentiation process of 3D epidermal cells. The FT-IR and TEWL analysis on 3D epidermis showed an enhancement in the orthorhombic lipid packing and an improvement in barrier function. Additionally, in HaCaT cells, an increase in the expression of EVOL1 and EVOL4, which synthesize long-chain lipids, was detected, along with a decrease in CERS6, which synthesizes short-chain ceramide, and an increase in ACER6, which decomposes ceramide using phytosphingosine. This suggests the possibility that Rg3 affects lipid synthesis during the epidermal differentiation process, resulting in changes in barrier function.

1. Performance of RO membrane depends on chain structure (packing density) 2. Crosslinking of main chain is essential for the high performance RO membranes 3. Various bisphenols and polyaminostyrene can be promising materials for the fabrication of RO membranes. 4. By using of blend technique of reactant, we can expect broad spectrum of RO membrane and synergetic effects in membrane performance.
The structure of cholesteryl isobutyrate, $(CH_3)_2CHCOOC_{27}H_{45}$, was determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction methods. Cholesteryl isobutyrate crystallized monoclinic space group $P2_1$, with a = 15.115 (8)${\AA}$, b = 9.636 (5)${\AA}$, c = 20.224 (9)${\AA}$, ${\beta}$ = 93.15 (5)$^{\circ}$, z = 4, $D_c = 1.03 g/cm^3 $and Dm= 1.04 g/$cm^3$. The intensity data were measured for the 3417 reflections, within $sin{\theta}/{\lambda} = 0.59{\AA}^{-1}$, using an automatic four-circle diffractometer and graphite monochromated Mo-$K_{\alpha}$ radiation. The structure was solved by fragment search Patterson methods and direct methods and refined by full-matrix least-squares methods. The final R factor was 0.129 for 2984 observed reflections. The two symmetry-independent molecules (A) and (B) are almost fully extended. The molecules are in antiparallel array forming monolayers with thickness $d_{100}$ = 15.2${\AA}$, and molecular long axes are nearly parallel to the [$\bar{1}$01] directions. The two distinct molecules form separate stacks with almost the same orientations, but with differing degrees of steroid overlap. Thers is a close packing of cholesteryl groups within the monolayers. The packing type is similar to those of cholesteryl hexanoate and cholesteryl oleate.

CFT concrete has high flowing, high strength and resistance to material separation to use skyscraper structure. It is considered that concrete could fill the lower part of Diaphragm up. This kinds of CFT concrete hardly apply to building below 20 stories. Using the common use strength concrete to building below 20 stories brings to reduce construction cost. This concrete is needed that valid fluidity and packing ability with unit cement content as common use strength concrete. Offering a fundamental data and proportioning in CFT concrete of below 20 stories, it is executed basic property test, analysis of proportioning and mock up test.
The filtration of the magnetic fibrous polymeric filter with packing density profile made of a self-bonded, nonwoven structure comprising a thermoplastic polymer and a magnetic substance was investigated using an oil filter tester, a particle quantifier and an image analyzer system. The magnetic fibrous polymeric filter showed excellent filtration efficiency compared with conventional paper filter. From the experimental results, It is deduced that the filtration mechanism of conventional paper filter is only the function of physical porosity by surface filteration. On the other hand, the newly magnetic fibrous polymeric filter is designed with a new concept in filtration mechanism. That is, it has a dual function of depth and magnetic filters by physical porosity and magnetic attraction. The newly magnetic fibrous polymeric filter has been shown to be a highly effective oil filter for lubrication systems.

The mechanical behavior of a granular material is governed by the applying effective stresses and its skeletal structure which is considered to be the packing of particles giving overall density and degree of anisotropic. Factors that affect soil packing are the particle size, size distribution and shape, and the arrangement of grain contact. Soil particle size and shape are the most important factor, but difficult to quantify. In this study, 2D Fourier analysis is applied to quantify the shape of granular particles. Jumunjin sand was used in the experiment and particle images are captured using an optical microscope. The results showed that three lower order Fourier descriptor are closely related with roundness, sphericity of the granular particle. Also statistical approach is used to determine roundness, form factor, elongation ratio, roughness of Jumunjin sand.

Column subtraction, originally proposed by Harche and Thompson(]994), is an exact method for solving large set covering, packing and partitioning problems. Since the constraint set of ship scheduling problem(SSP) have a special structure, most instances of SSP can be solved by LP relaxation. This paper aims at applying the column subtraction method to solve SSP which can not be solved by LP relaxation. For remained instances of unsolvable ones, we subtract columns from the finale simplex table to get another integer solution in an iterative manner. Computational results having up to 10,000 0-1 variables show better performance of the column subtraction method solving the remained instances of SSP than complex branch-and-bound algorithm by LINDO.
Polymer EL devices of glass/ITO/PI/MEH-PPV/Al structure were fabricated using spin coating and the Ionized Cluster Beam deposition technique. PMDA-ODA type thin polyimide films which can be used as a impurity blocking layer of EL device were deposited by ICB. According to our previous results, the packing densities of polyimide films were subject to change and depend on their deposition condition. By inserting a Pl layer with various thickness and packing density, I-V characteristics and life time of the devices were investigated to determine the role of a interlayer. The blocking of impurity diffusion from ITO to luminescent layer were confirmed by XPS.
