UDP is an unreliable data transmission protocol, in contrast to TCP, which implements reliable data delivery based on flow control and retransmission methods. However, the TCP operation algorithm for guaranteeing reliability is inefficient in improving transmission performance, and above all, there is no need to transmit data using the TCP method for fields that do not require perfect integrity. In this paper, we intend to discuss ways to improve the stability while maintaining the existing performance of UDP. To this end, a program applied with packet buffering and relaying techniques was developed, and the performance and stability of the experiment were verified.
To determine a suitable waveform for Internet of Things (IoT) transmission over low-Earth orbit (LEO) satellites, this paper reports the results of a performance comparison between chirp spread spectrum (CSS)-based LoRa and direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS)-based Ingenu. The performance of both waveforms was measured in terms of the packet error rate, throughput, and packet loss rate, considering the Doppler effect caused by the high speed of LEO satellites and the interference among multiple terminals. Simulation results indicate that the DSSS scheme is more suitable than the CSS scheme for high-traffic IoT services because of its robustness against interference among multiple terminals. However, the CSS scheme is more suitable than the DSSS scheme for high-mobility IoT services because of its robustness against the Doppler effect. We discuss various solutions, such as the preprocessing of Doppler effect and avoidance of packet collision, to enhance the performance of the DSSS and CSS schemes. The simulation results of the proposed solution show that the enhanced DSSS scheme can be a proper waveform in IoT transmission over LEO satellites for both the high-traffic and high-mobility services.
The average window size is most closely related to average throughput. In order to improve fairness, the proposed dropper tries to control the window size of each flow to equal level by intentional packet drop. Intentional packet drop is performed only to the flows that have been occupied bandwidth in a large amount. Because of intentional packet drop, this flow cut down its transmission rate to a half. Accordingly, somewhat capacity of core link comes into existence. And other flow can use this new capacity of this link. Hence other flows have more throughput than before. In this paper, we propose the TRC (Transmission Rate Control) Dropper improving the fairness between individual flows of aggregated sources on DiffServ network. It has the fairness improvement mechanism mentioned above paragraph.

In this paper, we propose MAC protocol that consists of channel access mechanism and transmission mechanism to support effective wireless packet data service. In channel access mechanism, broadcast channel announces status information of random access channel, and mobile station tries random access based on status information. Also, mobile station has access probability to prevent collision increase due to transmission of short message. For effective transmission, mobile station changes transmission rate based on transmission queue status to adapt burst traffic characteristics. In restricted environments of transmission code and bandwidth, proposed protocol shows better performance than cdma2000 system.

In wireless packet networks, energy and wireless resource efficiency is critical issue to addressed for wide deployment. To achieve the both goals of saving the mobile station's energy and increasing the wireless capacity, transmission power control is introduced to wireless packet networks. In the transmission power controled networks, it is not deeply studied on unfairness among transmissions with different power levels that reaches starvation. Through the performance analysis, this paper explains the throughput unfairness of high power transmission with the unfair media access probability owing to the contending node number difference and proposes a simple PHY-MAC cross layer approach.
In this paper, we propose a scheme for partially dynamic lane control for energy saving in multilane-based high-speed Ethernet. In this scheme, among the given transmission lanes, at least one lane is always operating, and the remaining lanes are dynamically activated to alleviate the network performance in terms of queuing delay and packet loss in the range of acceptance. The number of active lanes is determined by the decision algorithm based on the information regarding traffic and queue status. The reconciliation sublayer adjusts the transmission lane with the updated number of lanes received from the algorithm, which guarantees no processing delay in the media access control layer, no overhead, and minimal delay of the exchanging control frames. The proposed scheme is simulated in terms of queuing delay, packet loss rate, lane changes, and energy saving using an OPNET simulator. Our results indicate that energy savings of around 55% (or, when the offered load is less than 0.25, a significant additional savings of up to 75%) can be obtained with a queuing delay of less than 1 ms, a packet loss of less than $10^{-4}$, and a control packet exchange time of less than $0.5{\mu}s$ in random traffic.

We propose a flow admission control (FAC) for setting up a wire-speed connection for new flows based on their negotiated bandwidth. It also terminates a flow that does not have a packet transmitted within a certain period determined by the users. The FAC can be used to provide a reliable transmission of user datagram and transmission control protocol applications. If the period of flows can be set to a short time period, we can monitor active flows that carry a packet over networks during the flow period. Such powerful flow management can also be applied to security systems to detect a denial-of-service attack. We implement a network processor called a flow management network processor (FMNP), which is the second generation of the device that supports FAC. It has forty reduced instruction set computer core processors optimized for packet processing. It is fabricated in 65-nm CMOS technology and has a 40-Gbps process performance. We prove that a flow router equipped with an FMNP is better than legacy systems in terms of throughput and packet loss.

In this paper, we propose the receiver algorithms suitable for the ECMA standard proposed for multi-gigabit packet transmission in 60 GHz band. In the ECMA standard, various modulation schemes are used for system flexibility. Hence, it is crucial to develop receiver algorithms supporting various modulation schemes with an uniform hardware structure. In this paper, we propose the receiver algorithms supporting DBPSK, DQPSK and OOK modulation schemes simultaneously. The proposed algorithms are not only hardware efficient but also support various modulation schemes with an uniform hardware structure.

In a centralized spread-spectrum packet radio network, a random assignment -transmitter-based spreading code protocol(RA-T) is proposed which permits the contention mode only in the trasmission of a preamble while avoiding collision during the data packet transmission by assigning near-orthogonal spreading codes to each user. Compared to the conventional transmitter-based code scheme, this scheme allows reduction in receiver complexity when only a small number of distinct spreading codes are employed for the preamble transmission. Throughout theoretical and simulation results, it is shown that the use of the RA-T scheme with just two or three distinct codes for the preamble packet achieves most of the performance gain.

Recently, there is asymmetrical transmission in Internet data stream. The asymmetrical transmission has much more downstream than upstream. Owing to this point, it needs to reduce the acknowledgement as element of the obsrtuction in downstream. In this paper, according to simulation's result, we know that Sack has good performance than New Reno in bottleneck environment Comparing two protocols in packet loss rate, NewReno is lower than Sack. And also comparing two protocols in throughput of ack packet, not only NewReno processes ack packet more quickly than Sack, but also NewReno processes more ack packet than Sack protocol during ten seconds in simulation. As a result, NewReno is batter than Sack in throughput of asymmetrical link.
