China has witnessed tremendous changes especially in the field of packaging industry after the reform and opening policy commencing in early 1979. Thanks to the reform and opening policy by Deng Xiaoping, a former leader of China, packaging industry has been selected as one of the specialized industries, and this policy has made great achievements in the field of packaging. The total volume of packaging industry now ranks the first in the overall industry in China and this indicates that this industry is taking a great role to bust up economic growth of China. In this paper, The facts and forecasts of packaging industry and education in China are introduced.

This study sought efficiency of collaboration between manufacturers and distributors by finding a way to improve logistics efficiency in order to save distribution cost and standardize packaging together with profit generation by way of simple-display packaging in discount stores. For the study purpose, the impact of products with RRP (Retail Ready Packaging) by each discount store on the collaboration achievement such as loading efficiency was observed. From this observation, an alternative packaging system that can improve logistics efficiency between manufacturers and distributors was sought and the role of distributors in distribution standardization was explored. The purpose of this study also includes suggesting some implications on future basic direction of environment-friendly management. If this study would induce distributors to have more interest in distribution standardization and if logistics efficiency would be enhanced by the operation of packaging system considered of compatibility with pallets, this study would have academic significance and create practical values.

Pharmaceuticals require more detailed packaging than do other sensitive products, such as foods, although there are several similarities in their requirements. Because the required action of a medication can be nullified by any deterioration in its active principles the protection required from its packaging is at least an order of magnitude greater than that needed by foods. Therefore, security and integrity of the package are more important and are controlled by licensing arrangements. To achieve levels of safety, reliability, and quality, pharmaceutical firms must identify and correct potential problems with packaging functions. Purpose of this study is to identify the present issues pharmaceutical packaging and to forecast their future for the development of pharmaceutical packaging.

Regulation of food packaging in Korea, Eurpoe and USA are surveyed. Food packaging manufacturer or converter has a responsibility to evaluate the safety of migration of harmful materials from typical finished packaging items. The 'overall migration limit' of all components from the packaging and 'specific migration limits(SML)' of monomers or additives are evaluated with food simulants, water, acetic acid, ethanol and n-heptane, based on the regulations of the countries. A substance not regulated has to be authorized with the technical data required, information on chemical identity, physical chemical and other properties, the intended use, migration studies and toxicological studies.

본 연구에서는 새로운 패키징 기술 개발 방향을 정하기 위해서 먼저 미래사회로 가는 메가트렌들가 무엇이며 이들이 어떤 새로운 패키징기술을 요구할 것인가를 분석 예측하였다. 미래사회로 가는 주요 메가트렌드는 인구통계학적 트랜드, 사회학적 트렌드, 소비자들 트렌드, 패키징 주변과학기술의 발전 트렌드 및 정부의 정책 및 법규의 트렌드를 분석하였고 이들 트렌드가 요구하는 미래의 새로운 포장기술로는 Active/Passive 패키징기술, Intelligent Communication 패키징기술, Nanotechnology 패키징 기술, Universal Convenience 패키징 기술, Environmental Friendly 패키징기술과 Package Design기술로 예측되었다.

In response to the continuous changes in current consumer demands and market trends for postharvest produces, the functional application for agricultural packaging is becoming increasely significant. This paper focuses on the overview of important changes in physical and chemical status related to postharvest physiology and applications of the functional packaging materials for maintaining the freshness of fruits after harvest. During postharvest treatment and storage periods, fresh fruits undergoes the ripening process in quality attributes of the fruit such as major changes of texture, color, and flavor. Major fruit packaging technologies are concerned with correct gas permeable film and functions of ethylene removal, antimicrobial, and antifogging substances to keep the effective freshness. Application guidelines for the functional packaging in fresh produces were studied.
