Characteristic of Cabin Temperature According to Thermal Load Condition of Heat Pump for Electric Vehicle (전기자동차용 히트펌프의 열 부하 조건에 따른 캐빈온도 특성)

  • The Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) is used for cabin air heating of a battery electric vehicle, which is different from conventional vehicles. Since the PTC heater consumes a large quantity of power in a parasitic manner, many valuable studies have been reported in the field of alternative heat pumps. In this study, a model for an R134a heat pump taking into account the thermal environment of the cabin was developed for a MATLAB/SIMULINK(R) platform. Component and cabin models are validated with reference values. Results show that the heat pump is more competitive for parasitic power consumption over all ambient temperature conditions. Additionally, the method of waste heat recovery to overcome disadvantages when temperatures are below zero is applied to efficiently operate the heat pump.

  • A curious resistivity anomaly in high curie point barium-lead-titanate materials with positive temerature coefficient of resistivity (PTCR) has been observed just below the curie point, besides the normal PTCR anomaly. The additional resistivity anomaly was observed in the resistivity-temperature characteristics.

  • A new type of a lead-free positive temperature coefficient of resistivity(PTCR) material. based on $(Bi_{1/2}Na_{1/2})TiO_3\;-\;BaTiO_3$ solid solution ceramics has been developed. The effect of $Nb_O_5$ and $Y_2O_3$ content on the electrical properties and the microstructure of (1-x) $(Bi_{1/2}Na_{1/2})TiO_3\;-\;x\;BaTiO_3$ (BNBT) ceramics made using a conventional mixed oxide process has been studied. The Curie Temperature was obviously increased with the increasing of $(B_{0.5}Na_{0.5})TiO_3$ content. The Y-doped BNBT ceramics(x=0.02) display low resistivity values of $10^2-10^3$ ohm*cm at room temperature and the Curie Temperature of $Tc=155^{\circ}C$.

  • PTCR(Positive Temperature Coefficient of Resistivity) thermistor in thin film BaTiO$_{3}$ system was prepared by using radio frequency(13.56 MHz) and DC magnetron sputter equipment. Polycrystalline, surface structure, and R-T(Resistivity-Temperature) characteristics of the specimens were measured by X-ray diffraction(D-Max3, Rigaku, Japan), SEM(Scanning Electron Microscopy: M.JSM84 01, Japan), and insulation resistance measuring system (Keithley 719), respectively. Thin films characteristics of the thermistor showed different properties depending on the substrate even with the same sputtering condition. The thin film formed on the A1$_{2}$O$_{3}$ substrate showed a good crystalline and a low resistivity at below curie point. However, the thin films prepared on slide glass and Si wafer were amorphous. The thicknesses of the three samples prepared under the same process conditions were 700[.angs.], 637.75[.angs.], and 715[.angs.], respectively.

  • Carbon nanofiber (CNF)/unsaturated polyester resin (UPR) was prepared by a solvent evaporation method, and the temperature dependency of electrical conductivity was investigated. The CNF/UPR composites had quite a low percolation threshold due to CNF having a larger aspect ratio and being well dispersed in the UPR matrix. The positive temperature coefficient (PTC) was found in the CNF/UPR composites and it showed stronger effect around the percolation threshold. The electrical resistance of the CNF/UPR composites decreased and had lower temperature dependency with increasing numbers of thermal cycles.

  • A positive temperature coefficient of electrical resistivity (PTCR) was investigated in a ferroelectric lead-free perovskite-type compound $(Bi_{0.5}K_{0.5})TiO_3$ within $BaTiO_3$-based solid solution ceramics. The electrical properties and the microstructure of (1-x) $BaTiO_3$ - x $(Bi_{0.5}K_{0.5})TiO_3$ (BBKT) ceramics made using a conventional mixed and have been synthesized by an ordinary sintering technique. The Curie temperature was obviously increased with increasing of $(Bi_{0.5}K_{0.5})TiO_3$ content. The BKT ceramics (x=0.05) sintered at $1400^{\circ}C$ for 4h display low resistivity values of $10^1-10^2$ ohm cm at room temperature, PTCR effect(jump) of 1.05*$10^3$, and the Curie temperature of $T_c=141^{\circ}C$.

  • The thermistors and AD590 are widely used for temperature measurement in space application. The resistance of thermistor will vary according to the temperature variation therefore the external voltage or current stimulus signal have to be provided to measure resistance variation. Recently high resolution electro optic camera system of satellite requires tight thermal control of the camera structure to minimize the thermal structural distortion which can affects the image quality. In order to achieve $1^{\circ}$(deg C) thermal control requirement, the accuracy of temperature measurement have to be higher than $0.3^{\circ}$(deg C). In this paper, the accuracy of temperature measurement using thermistors is estimated and analyzed.

Physical Properties of Graphite Nanofiber Filled Nylon6 Composites

  • This paper describes the physical properties of filled Nylon6 composites resin with nano-sized carbon black particle and graphite nanofibers prepared by melt extrusion method. In improving adhesions between resin and fillers, the surface of the carbon filler materials were chemically modified by thermo-oxidative treatments and followed by treatments of silane coupling agent. Crystallization temperature and rate of crystallization increased with increases in filler concentration which would act as nuclei for crystallization. The silane treatments on the filler materials showed effect of reduction in crystallization temperature, possibly from enhancement in wetting property of the surface of the filler materials. Percolation transition phenomenon at which the volume resistivity was sharply decreased was observed above 9 wt% of carbon black and above 6 wt% of graphite nanofiber. The graphite nanofibers contributed to more effectively in an increase in electrical conductivity than carbon black did, on the other hand, the silane coupling agent negatively affected to the electrical conductivity due to the insulating property of the silane. Positive temperature coefficient (PTC) phenomenon, was observed as usual in other composites, that is, temperature increase results conductivity increase. The dispersity of the fillers were excellently approached by melt extrusion of co-rotational twin screw type and it could be illustrated by X-ray diffraction and SEM.

Properties of the Positive Temperature Coefficient Resistor Behavior on the Na and K Doped BaTiO3 (Na 및 K 치환에 따른 BaTiO3의 Positive Temperature Coefficient Resistor 특성)

  • The influences of Na and K content on the crystal phase, the microstructure and the electrical property of $BaTiO_3$-based thermistors was found to show typical PTC effects. The crystal phase of powder calcined at $1000^{\circ}C$ for 4hrs showed a single phase with $BaTiO_3$, and the crystal structure was transformed from tetragonal to cubic phase according to added amounts of Na and K. In XRD results at $43^{\circ}\sim47^{\circ}$, the $(Ba_{0.858}Na_{0.071}K_{0.071})(Ti_{0.9985}Nb_{0.0015})O_{3-\delta}$ showed (002) and (200) peaks but the $(Ba_{0.762}Na_{0.119}K_{0.119})(Ti_{0.9975}Nb_{0.0025})O_{3-\delta}$ showed (002), (020) and (200) peaks. In sintered bodies, those calcined at $600^{\circ}C$ rather than at $1000^{\circ}C$ were dense, and for certain amounts of Na and K showed rapid decreases in grain size. In relative permittivity, the curie temperature due to the transformation of ferroelectric phase rose with added Na and K but decreased in terms of relative permittivity. In the result of the R-T curve, the sintered bodies have curie temperatures of about $140^{\circ}C$ and the resistivity of sintered bodies have scores of $\Omega{\cdot}cm$; the jump order of sintered bodies was shown to be more than $10^4$ in powder calcined at $1000^{\circ}C$.

Air Intake Door Control for the High Air Conditioning Performance (인테이크 도어 제어를 이용한 고성능 냉난방 시스템)

  • Recently, the quick heating performance is an important issue in the car because engine power becomes so high. So car makers have been adapted the additional heating devices as like PTC(Positive Temperature Coefficient) heater. And the quick cooling performance is also important issue because its result is used in the IQS(Initial Quality Study). In this paper, control of the HVAC(Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning) intake door has been studied for the quick heating and cooling performance. Heating performance is improved $4.0^{\circ}C$ at $-20^{\circ}C$ ambient temperature after 20 minutes. And cooling performance is improved $1.5^{\circ}C$ at $35^{\circ}C$ ambient temperature after 10 minutes. In addition, intake door control system brings on the cost reduction because the flab door can be eliminated. This intake door control system has been adapted to the new developing cars.
