정상 및 미소중력장에서 프로판 층류 제트 삼지 화염의 전파속도에 관한 실험적 연구 (Normal and Micro Gravity Experiments on Propagation Speed of Tribrachial Flame of Propane in Laminar Jets)

  • The propagation speed of tribrachial flame in laminar propane jets has been investigated experimentally under normal and micro gravity conditions. The displacement speed was found to vary nonlinearly with axial distance because flow velocity along stoichiometric contour was comparable to the propagation speed of tribrachial flame for the present experiment. Approximate solutions for velocity and concentration accounting density difference and virtual origins have been used in determining the propagation speeds of tribrachial flame. Under micro gravity condition, the results showed that propagation speed of tribrachial flame is largely affected by the mixture fraction gradients, in agreement with previous studies. The limiting maximum value. of propagation speeds under micro gravity conditions are in good agreement with the theoretical prediction, that is, the ratio of maximum propagation speed to the stoichiometric laminar burning velocity is proportional to the square root of the density ratio of unburned to burnt mixture.

대형 액상 LPG 분사식 SI 엔진에서 화염 가시화를 이용한 희박영역에서의 화염 전파특성 연구 (Flame Propagation Characteristics in a Heavy Duty Liquid Phase LPG Injection SI Engine by Flame Visualization)

  • Combustion and flame propagation characteristics of the liquid phase LPG injection (LPLI) engine were investigated in a single cylinder optical engine. Lean bum operation is needed to reduce thermal stress of exhaust manifold and engine knock in a heavy duty LPG engine. An LPLI system has advantages on lean operation. Optimized engine design parameters such as swirl, injection timing and piston geometry can improve lean bum performance with LPLI system. In this study, the effects of piston geometry along with injection timing and swirl ratio on flame propagation characteristics were investigated. A series of bottom-view flame images were taken from direct visualization using an W intensified high-speed CCD camera. Concepts of flame area speed, In addition to flame propagation patterns and thermodynamic heat release analysis, was introduced to analyze the flame propagation characteristics. The results show the correlation between the flame propagation characteristics, which is related to engine performance of lean region, and engine design parameters such as swirl ratio, piston geometry and injection timing. Stronger swirl resulted in foster flame propagation under open valve injection. The flame speed was significantly affected by injection timing under open valve injection conditions; supposedly due to the charge stratification. Piston geometry affected flame propagation through squish effects.

해수면 자유공간의 전파경로손실 예측 모델 (Prediction Model of Propagation Path Loss of the Free Space in the Sea)

  • 지금까지 제안된 전파경로손실 예측모델 모두는 지표면 생활공간을 대상으로 하였을 뿐이다. 실제 해수면 자유공간은 지표면 생활공간과 물리적 계층구조가 다르다. 따라서 지표면 생활공간을 대상으로 한 전파경로손실 예측모델을 해수면 자유공간에 적용하는 경우, 전파경로손실은 실측값보다 더 적고, 한편 서비스 가능 최대 직선거리는 더 짧게 예측된다. 그러므로 본 연구에서는 CDMA방식 이동 통신 주파수대역을 중심으로 해수면 자유공간에서의 전파경로손실을 보다 정확히 예측하기 위한 모델을 제안하여 시뮬레이션하고 이를 현장 실측결과와 비교함으로써 그 실용성을 검증한다.

혼합모드 하중에서의 STS304의 피로균열 전과거동 (Fatigue Crack Propagation Behavior in STS304 under Mixed Mode Loading)

  • The use of fracture mechanics has traditionally concentrated on crack growth under an opening mechanism. However, many service failure occur from cracks subjected to mixed mode loadings. Hence, it is necessary to evaluate the fatigue behavior under mixed mode loading. Under mixed mode loading conditions, not only the fatigue crack propagation rate is of importance, but also the crack propagation direction. The mode I and II stress intensity factors of CTS specimen were calculated using elastic finite element method. The propagation behavior of the fatigue crack of the STS304 steeds under mixed mode loading condition was evacuated by using stress intensity factors $K_I$ and $K_II. The MTS criterion and effective stress intensity factor were applied to predict the crack propagation direction and the fatigue crack propagation rate.

Plane-converging Belief Propagation을 이용한 고속 스테레오매칭 (Fast Stereo matching based on Plane-converging Belief Propagation using GPU)

  • 스테레오 매칭은 두 영상의 차이를 이용하여 거리를 추정하는 연구 분야로 성능 개선과 함께 처리속도 향상을 위한 연구가 계속되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 계층적 Belief Propagation(BP) 알고리즘을 개선하여 기존의 BP에서의 수렴구간을 메시지 맵으로 만들고 이를 이용하여 처리속도를 향상시키는 Plane-converging BP 알고리즘을 제안한다. 또한 GPU 아키텍쳐인 Nvidia의 CUDA를 이용하여 다수의 계산을 병렬화 하고 이를 동시에 처리하여 실시간 어플리케이션에 적합한 스테레오 매칭 기법을 개발하였다. Plane-converging BP 알고리즘은 기존의 계층적 BP 알고리즘과 유사한 에러율을 가지면서 약 2.7배의 속도 향상을 이루었다.

속도향상에 따른 열차속도와 전차선 파동전파속도에 대한 실험적 연구 (A Experimental Study on Train Speed and Wave Propagation Speed of Contact Wire according to the Speed-up)

  • An overhead catenary system is the one of the main subjects for increasing speed in electric railway. When a vehicle increases the speed over 350km/h, vibrations and wave propagation reflections occur severely. Therefore, the system suitable for the speed are needed. A wave propagation speed of contact wire is the main criteria to determine the tension for the system. Therefore, a train speed is restricted below 70% of wave propagation speed of it in European railway code. In this study, we measured a strain and uplift of contact wire while HEMU-430X tain is operated for the speed-up trial test in Kyungbu high-speed railway. The measured strain and uplift are analyzed with wave propagation speed according to the speed-up. The more a train speed reaches to a propagation speed, the more measured strain is high. Through the study, an experimental approach is performed about the code which a train speed is restricted below 70% of wave propagation speed of it.

황해에서 저주파 음파의 해저손실 변동 (Bottom Loss Variation of Low-Frequency Sound Wave in the Yellow Sea)

  • The sound wave in the sea propagates under the effect of water depth, sound speed structure, sea surface roughness, bottom roughness, and acoustic properties of bottom sediment. In shallow water, the bottom sediments are distributed very variously with place and the sound speed structure varying with time and space. In order to investigate the seasonal propagation characteristics of low-frequency sound wave in the Yellow Sea, propagation experiments were conducted along a track in the middle part of the Yellow Sea in spring, summer, and autumn. In this paper we consider seasonal variations of the sound speed profile and propagation loss based on the measurement results. Also we quantitatively investigate variation of bottom loss by dividing the propagation loss into three components: spreading loss, absorption loss, and bottom loss. As a result, the propagation losses measured in summer were larger than the losses in spring and autumn, and the propagation losses measured in autumn were smaller than the losses in spring. The spreading loss and the absorption loss did not show seasonal variations, but the bottom loss showed seasonal variations. So it was thought that the seasonal variation of the propagation loss was due to the seasonal change of the bottom loss and the seasonal variation of the bottom loss was due to the change of the sound speed profile by season.

Theoretical and numerical analysis of the influence of initial stress gradient on wave propagations

  • The investigation of stress wave propagation in a medium with initial stress has very important application in the field of engineering. However, the previous research less consider the influence of initial stress gradient on wave propagation. In the present paper, the governing equation of wave propagation in elastic continuum material with inhomogeneous initial stress is derived, which indicated that the inhomogeneous initial stress changed the governing equation of wave propagation. Additionally, the definite problem of wave propagation in material with initial stress gradient is verified by using mathematical physics method. Based on the definite problem, the elastic displacement-time relationship of wave propagation is explored, which indicated that the inhomogeneous initial stress changed waveform and relationship of displacement-time histories. Furthermore, the spall process of blasting wave propagation from underground to earth surface is simulated by using LS-DYNA.

탄소성 응력집중부에서의 초기피로균열전파수명의 예측 (A Prediction of Initial Fatigue Crack Propagation Life in a notched Component Taking Elasto-Plastic Behavior)

  • In order to consider the concept of the fitness for purpose'in fatigue design of offshore structure, fracture mechanics is applied to evaluate initial or weld defects. Generally, linear elastic fracture mechanics has been applied to tstimate initial fatigue crack propagation rate as well as long fatigue crack propagation rate. But, initial fatigue crack propagation rate in elasto-plastic notch field may not be characterized by application of stress intensity factor range .DELTA. K, because plastic effect due to stress concentration of notch may contribute to initial crack propagation. Therefore, to introduce the plastic effect into fatigue crack driving force, in this studty, the evaluating method of J-integral range .DELTA. J, was developed by willson was modified for application to notch field. In calculation of .DELTA. J obtained from the modified J-integral, stress gradient and crack closure behavior in the notch field were considered. The initial crack propagation rates in the notch fields of mild steels and high tensile strength steels were correlated to .DELTA. J. As the result, it was cleared that the present .DELTA. J is applicable to charachterize the fatigue crack propagation rates in both the elastic and elasto-plastic notch fields.

  • The phenomenology of shock loading effects in brittle mass has been of interest to researchers and engineers. The shock loading as blasting causes strong stress waves in the structures. Discontinuous faces due to shock waves interrupt the tensile stress wave propagation and reflect the stress wave propagation. To predict the fracturing behavior of brittle mass, it is required for the numerical method that can analyze the colliding and slipping behavior of discontinuous faces and the wave propagation in the mass, simultaneously In this study, the wave propagation in the brittle materials is analyzed using the modified distinct element method to be able to predict the behavior of discontinuous structures. The behavior of an unsupported bar subjected to loading at the end is analyzed to verify the rigid body motion of a bar and the relative displacement in the bar. The colliding behavior of two bars is analyzed to investigate the propagation of stress waves in the bar. The fracturing behavior of a bar due to impact loading is analyzed to investigate the propagation of stress waves in the bar with and without the discontinuous faces. The applicability of the modified distinct element method to the wave propagation problems is investigated.
