  • In the present study, the method and procedure for analysis of impact damage behavior for concrete under penetration and perforation of projectile is investigated. Conservation law, equation of motion, initial and boundary conditions, and FEM formulation are introduced and derived respectively. Specially, the constitutive equation which rate-dependent damage combined with rate-dependent plasticity within the appropriate framework of theory of thermodynamics is examined. This paper aimed at the review with respect to impact damage models for concrete to develop that model. This paper is a basis research for the development of impact damage model for concrete.

압축공기로 움직이는 관 내부 수중 이동물체의 거동에 미치는 물의 압축성 영향 (The Effect of Water Compressibility on a Rigid Body Movement in a Water-filled Duct Driven by Compressed Air)

  • The motion of a projectile initiated by the release of highly pressurized air is simulated presuming the flow field as a two dimensional one. The effects of water compressibility on projectile movements are investigated, comparing results based on the Fluent VOF model where water is treated as an incompressible medium with those from the presently developed VOF scheme. The present model considers compressibility of both air and water. The Fluent results show that the body moves farther and at higher speeds than the present ones. As time proceeds, the relative difference of speed and displacement between the two results drops substantially, after acoustic waves in water traverse and return the full length of the tube several times. To estimate instantaneous accelerations, however, requires implementation of the water compressibility effect as discrepancies between them do not decrease even after several pressure wave cycles.

2차원 압축공기-물의 압축성 이상 유동 수치 해석 (Numerical Analysis for Two-Dimensional Compressible and Two-Phase Flow Fields of Air-Water in Eulerian Grid Framework)

  • Two-phase compressible flow fields of air-water are investigated numerically in the fixed Eulerian grid framework. The phase interface is captured via volume fractions of each phase. A way to model two phase compressible flows as a single phase one is found based on an equivalent equation of states of Tait's type for a multiphase cell. The equivalent single phase field is discretized using the Roe‘s approximate Riemann solver. Two approaches are tried to suppress the pressure oscillation phenomena at the phase interface, a passive advection of volume fraction and a direct pressure relaxation with the compressible form of volume fraction equation. The direct pressure equalizing method suppresses pressure oscillation successfully and generates sharp discontinuities, transmitting and reflecting acoustic waves naturally at the phase interface. In discretizing the compressible form of volume fraction equation, phase interfaces are geometrically reconstructed to minimize the numerical diffusion of volume fraction and relevant variables. The motion of a projectile in a water-filled tube which is fired by the release of highly pressurized air is simulated presuming the flow field as a two dimensional one, and several design factors affecting the projectile movement are investigated.

  • 포물체란 중력이 작용하는 환경에서 어떤 속도로 던져진 물체를 뜻합니다. 예를 들자면, 박찬호 선수가 포수를 향하여 던진 야구공이라든지, 박세리 선수의 스윙으로 그린을 향하여 날아가고 있는 골프공, 그리고 목표물을 향하여 날아가고 있는 포탄은 모두 포물체입니다. 이 물체는 수직방향으로는 중력의 영향을 받고 공기의 저항을 무시한다면 수평방향으로는 힘을 받지 않기 때문에 포물선운동을 한다. 본 논문에서는 포물체의 운동을 이용하여 도로의 일부가 유실되어 없어진 곳을 실험 대상을 한다. 여기에서 속도가 일정하게 달리던 자동차가 유실된 도로의 가장자리를 넘어갔을 때 도로의 가장자리로에서 얼마나 멀리 가서 떨어지는지를 나타내었다.

Numerical Study of Interior Ballistics with Moving Boundary

  • The 1-D numerical study of the interior ballistics has been conducted. The unsteady compressible 1-D CFD code using SIMPLER algorithm and QUICK scheme has been developed. The mathematical model of the two-phase flow has been established for the behavior of the interior ballistics. The moving boundary due to the projectile motion as the physical phenomena of the interior ballistics results in the varied control volume. In order to analyze the moving boundary, the numerical codes, which apply the ghost-cell extrapolation method and the Lagrangian method respectively, have been developed. The ghost-cell extrapolation method has been used in the Eulerian coordinate system. The Lagrangian method has been used in Non-Eulerian coordinate system. These codes have been verified through the analysis of the free piston motion problem in the tube. Through this study, the basic techniques of the numerical code for the multi-dimensional two-phase flow of the interior ballistics have been obtained.

Overlapped Electromagnetic Coilgun for Low Speed Projectiles

  • This paper presents a new overlapped coilgun configuration to launch medium weight projectiles. The proposed configuration consists of a two-stage coilgun with overlapped coil covers with spacing between them. The theoretical operation of a multi-stage coilgun is introduced, and a transient simulation was conducted for projectile motion through the launcher by using a commercial transient finite element software, ANSOFT MAXWELL. The excitation circuit design for each coilgun is reported, and the results indicate that the overlapped configuration increased the exit velocity relative to a non-overlapped configuration. Different configurations in terms of the optimum length and switching time were attempted for the proposed structure, and all of these cases exhibited an increase in the exit velocity. The exit velocity tends to increase by 27.2% relative to that of a non-overlapped coilgun of the same length.

  • A modified theoretical analysis of the ballistic perforation on the double and multi-layered armour plates using an upper bound method has been presented in this paper. A modified model based on the suggestion of the Awerbuch-bodner model has been adapted and extended into double and multi-layered armour plates when the plugging type of penetration has been occurred. The residual projectile speed, ballistic limit velocity and contact time during the penetration process have been derived from the equation of motion at each stage.

  • 이 논문에서는 정밀유도 포탄의 성능향상을 위한 유도기법을 제안하였다. 본 논문에서 제안하는 기법은 탄의 운동특성분석 없이 탄도와의 오차를 최대한 줄여 탄약의 표적오차를 줄이기 위해서 고안한 기법이다. 이 기법은 탄약의 회전 및 세차운동으로 발생하는 탄내 장착 관성센서의 출력 변동폭을 줄이기 위해 신호처리 기법으로 많이 사용되는 이동평균필터 기법을 적절히 응용한 것으로 관성센서 출력값을 보정하는 것이 목적이다. 단순히 3차원 유도조종 기법을 적용한 경우와 개선기법을 포함하여 적용한 기법의 성능을 비교하였으며, 명확한 성능개선을 확인하였다. 이 기법의 적용으로 유도탄과는 달리 가혹한 환경조건 및 불규칙한 운동 특성을 가지는 포발사 탄약의 탄착 정확도가 개선되는 것을 확인하였다.

기준궤적을 이용한 탄도수정탄 유도제어기 설계 (Design the Guidance and Control for Precision Guidance Munitions using Reference Trajectory)

  • This paper present, the result of the guidance and control law for a course correction munitions(CCM) with 2sets of canards positioned in the rotating nose section. The nonlinear simulation model of the CCM was developed based on 7DOF equation of motion. The ability of correcting position was verified by open-loop control input with nonlinear model. The guidance and control command was constructed by reference trajectory which can be obtained with no control. Finally, the performance of the guidance and control law was evaluated through Monte-carlo simulation. The CEP(Circular Error Probability) was obtained by considering the errors in muzzle velocity, aerodynamic coefficient, wind, elevation and azimuth angle and density.

  • 강내탄도 전산해석 코드 개발을 위한 효율적인 방안과 수치 기법에 관해 연구하였다. 탄자이동에 의한 이동경계면에 대한 수치 해석 기법은 자유 피스톤 운동 문제를 통해서 비교 검증하였다. 강내탄도의 초기 연소를 수치적으로 계산하여 고체추진제의 연소와 기공률 효과에 의한 압력구배를 예측할 수 있었다. 본 연구를 통해서 강내탄도 전산 해석 코드 개발에 관한 방안과 기초 기법에 대한 전산화 기술을 확보하였다.
