We have extracted an optical clock signal from a return-to-zero(RZ) pseudorandom bit sequence(PRBS) and non-return-to-zero(NRZ) PRBS data in a pulsation multi-section laser diode with DFB reflector. The ms timing jitter achieved less than 1 ps for the input 11.727 Gbit/s RZ PRBS and NRZ PRBS data. The PRE data wasconverted from the NRZ data using an NRZ to pseudo-return to zero(PRZ) converter module. The optical clock was extracted from the PRZ data which contains the clock components. Although the input PRZ data gives a timing jitter of 2 ps, the extracted clock has timing jitter of ${\~}$1 ps.

This paper proposes a Hybrid Random PWM(HRPWM) technique using a LF2407 DSP board in order to spread the power spectra of an induction motor. The proposed method is composed to the PRBS (Pseudo-Random Binary Sequence) with the Lead-Lag random bit and the random triangular carrier for the logical comparison. Also, a DSP generates the random number, the PRBS and the three-phase reference signal, a MAX038 chip operating as frequency modulator generates the random triangular carrier. For verification of the proposed method, the experiments were conducted with a three-phase adjustable speed a.c drives, and the results of simulations and experiments are presented.
This paper describes the acoustic noise spectra of the pseudo-random carrier modulation technique according to the different PRBS(Pseudo Random Binary Sequence) bits. To confirm the validity of the proposed method, a 130v three-phase 5-level inverter motor drives was implemented. The harmonics spectra broadening effect of pseudo random carrier and the acoustic noise radiated from the inverter drives were discussed and verified according to the different bits of shift resister operating as PRBS.

This study presents a power and Physical Resource Blocks (PRBs) joint allocation algorithm to coordinate uplink (UL) interference in the device-to-device (D2D) underlaying Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) networks. The objective is to find a mechanism to mitigate the UL interference between the two subsystems and maximize the weighted sum throughput as well. This optimization problem is formulated as a mixed integer nonlinear programming (MINLP) which is further decomposed into PRBs assignment and transmission power allocation. Specifically, the scenario of applying imperfect channel state information (CSI) is also taken into account in our study. Analysis reveals that the proposed PRBs allocation strategy is energy efficient and it suppresses the interference not only suffered by the LTE-A system but also to the D2D users. In another side, a low-complexity technique is proposed to obtain the optimal power allocation which resides in one of at most three feasible power vectors. Simulations show that the optimal power allocation combined with the proposed PRBs assignment achieves a higher weighted sum throughput as compared to traditional algorithms even when imperfect CSI is utilized.

Permeable reactive barriers (PRBs) are in-situ barriers constructed in a subsurface to treat contaminated groundwater using various reactive media. The common reactive medium used in PRB is zero-valent iron, which has been widely used to treat chlorinated solvents (i.e., PCE, TCE). A disadvantage of iron media is high cost. In this study, waste foundry sands were tested to determine the feasibility of their use as a low cost reactive medium. Batch and column tests were conducted with TCE to determine transport parameters and reactivity of the foundry sands. The reactivities of foundry sands for common groundwater contaminants are comparable to or slightly higher than those for Peerless iron, a common medium used in PRBs. In addition, the TOC and clay in foundry sands can significantly retard the movement of target contaminant, which may result in lower effluent concentration of contaminant due to biodegradation. In general, PRBs 1-m thick can be constructed with many foundry sands to treat TCE provided the zero-valent iron content in the foundry sand is higher than 1%.

A multi-heat pump provides the benefits of comfort, energy conservation and easy maintenance. Recently, the multi-heat pump has been widely employed in small and medium-sized buildings. However, the control algorithm of the multi-heat pump are limited in the open literature due to complicated operating conditions. In this study, the MIMO control algorithm using integral optimum regulator was designed and the control performance of it was analyzed. In addition, system model of the control plant was developed by PRBS system identification scheme. The MIMO controller adopting the integral optimum regulator yielded satisfactory control performance results.

LTE (Long-Term Evolution, sometimes known as 4G LTE) is a wireless high-speed data communication technology for mobile phones and data terminals. The Packet Scheduler (PS) is an important component in improving network performance. Physical Resource Blocks (PRBs) are assigned to associated User Equipment by the packet scheduler (UEs). The primary contribution of this study is a comparison of the eNodeB throughput between a suggested method and the Round Robin (RR) Algorithm. The RR Algorithm distributes PRBs among all associated UEs without taking channel circumstances into account. In this research, we present a new scheduling method that takes into account the number of PRBs and associated UEs and produces higher throughput than the RR algorithm.
This study focuses on investigating the impact of the spectral linewidth of a seed laser in a master-oscillator power amplifier (MOPA) configuration on stimulated Brillouin scattering and the beam quality of the output diffracted by a grating. To conduct the study, a distributed feedback (DFB) laser is modulated in a pseudorandom binary sequence (PRBS) and amplified by a two-stage Yb-doped fiber amplifier to achieve an output power of over 1 kW. The spectral linewidth of the seed laser is systematically varied from 1 to 12 GHz in the frequency domain by varying the PRBS modulation parameters. The experimental results reveal a tradeoff between suppressing stimulated Brillouin scattering and enhancing beam quality with increased spectral linewidth. Therefore, the study provides valuable insights into optimizing spectral beam combining to achieve high beam quality and scalable power upgrade in fiber lasers.
MTBE (Methyl tertiary-butyl ether) has been commonly used as an octane enhancer to replace tetraethyl lead in gasoline, because MTBE increases the efficiency of combustion and decreases the emission of carbon monoxide. However, MTBE has been found in groundwater from the fuel spills and leaks in the UST (Underground Storage Tank). Fenton's oxidation, an advanced oxidation catalyzed with ferrous iron, is successful in removing MTBE in groundwater. However, Fenton's oxidation requires the continuous addition of dissolved $Fe^{2+}$. Zero-valent iron is available as a source of catalytic ferrous iron of MFO (Modified Fenton's Oxidation) and has been studied for use in PRBs (Permeable Reactive Barriers) as a reactive material. Therefore, this study investigated the condition of optimization in MFO-PRBs using waste zero-valent iron (ZVI) with the waste steel scrap to treat MTBE contaminated groundwater. Batch tests were examined to find optimal molar ratio of MTBE : $H_2O_2$ on extent to degradation of MTBE in groundwater at pH 7 with 10% waste ZVI. As the results, the ratio of optimization of MTBE to hydrogen peroxide for MFO was determined to be 1:300[mM]. The column experiment was conducted to know applicability of MFO-PRBs for MTBE remediation in groundwater. As the results of column test, MTBE was removed 87% of the initial concentration during 120days of operational period. Interestingly, MTBE was degraded not only within waste ZVI column but also within sand column. It means the aquifer may affect continuously the MTBE contaminated groundwater after throughout the waste ZVI barrier. The residual products showed acetone, TBF (Tert-butyl formate) and TBA (Tert-butyl acetate) during this test. The results of the present study showed that the recycled materials can be effectively used for not only a source of catalytic ferrous iron but also a reactive material of the MFO-PRBs to remove MTBE in groundwater.

Batch test and column test were performed to develop the design factors for PRBs against the contaminated groundwater by ammonium and lead. Clinoptilolite, one of the natural zeolites having excellent cation exchange capacity(CEC), was chosen as the reactive material through the ion-exchange mechanism. In the batch test, the reactivity of Clinoptilolite to ammonium and lead was examined with varying the particle size of Clinoptilolite. The nit weight of Clinoptilolite showed removal efficiencies of 65 % against the ammonium and 98% against lead. The effect of particle size of Clinoptilolite was not noticeable. In the column test, the permeability was examined using flexible-wall permeameters with varying the particle size of Clinoptilolite. When the washed Clinoptilolite having the diameter of 0.42-0.85 nm was mixed with Jumunjin sands in 20:80 ratio (w/w), the highest permeability of 2$\times$10$^{-3}$ -7 x 10$^{-4}$ cm/s was achieved. The reactivity and the strength property of the mixed material were investigated using fixed wall column having 8 sampling ports on the wall and the direct shear test, respectively. Clinoptilolite was found to be a suitable material for PRBs against the contaminated groundwater with ammonium and/or heavy metals.
