  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of wearing Head-Mounted Display (HMD) on the cervical range of motion (CROM), neck muscle thickness, and pain in healthy young adults. The HMD group(male=16, female=7) was asked to perform sitting comfortably in a backless chair with hands on their knees with the HMD was worn on their heads to watch the video for 30 minutes. The control group(male=15, female=8) was asked to sit in the same posture as the HMD group for 30 minutes. CROM, neck muscle thickness, and pressure pain threshold (PPT) of both the upper trapezius and levator scapulae were measured before and after intervention. CROM and PPT of the upper trapezius and levator scapulae in the HMD group were significantly decreased and the thickness of the muscles in the HMD group were significantly increased more than in the pre-test (p<.05). There was no significant difference in CROM, muscle thickness, and PPT in the control group. Wearing HMD for a long time can cause a decrease in CROM and PPT and an increase in muscle thickness, and there is a risk of developing musculoskeletal disorders in the neck and shoulder. Therefore, this study recommends maintaining the correct posture of the neck and shoulder and using HMD only for an appropriate time.

  • Isotocin (IT), a nonapeptide homolog of oxytocin in mammals, has been suggested to be involved in physiological processes including social behaviors, stress responses, and osmoregulation in teleost fish. To study its structure and function, the gene encoding the IT precursor was cloned from the genomic DNA and brain cDNA of the cinnamon clownfish, Amphiprion melanopus. The IT precursor gene consists of three exons separated by two introns, and encodes an open reading frame of 156 amino acid (aa) residues, comprising a putative signal peptide of 19 aa, a mature IT protein of 9 aa, a proteolytic processing site of 3 aa, and 125 aa of neurophysin. Tissue-specific analysis of the IT precursor transcript indicated its expression in the brain and gonads of A. melanopus. To examine its osmoregulatory effects, the salinity of the seawater (34 ppt) used for rearing A. melanopus was lowered to 15 ppt. Histological analysis of the gills indicated the apparent disappearance of an apical crypt on the surface of the gill lamella of A. melanopus, as pavement cells covered the surface upon acclimation to the lower salinity. The level of Na+/K+-ATPase activity in the gills was increased during the initial stage of acclimation, followed by a decrease to its normal level, suggesting its involvement in osmoregulation and homeostasis. The only slight increase in the level of IT precursor transcript in the A. melanopus brain upon low-salinity acclimation suggested that IT played a minor role, if any, in the process of osmoregulation.

  • This study investigated the effects of temperature, salinity, and algal diet to find the optimal conditions for 5 days for the mass culture of the tropical tintinnid, Metacylis tropica. This tintinnid had a small, hyaline, and ovoid lorica. The oral diameter, length, and maximum width of the lorica were $36.7{\mu}m$, $49.5{\mu}m$, and $44.5{\mu}m$, respectively. In the temperature experiments, the highest maximum density and population growth rate were observed at $30^{\circ}C$ with 340.7 cells/mL and 1.1/day, respectively. Lower salinities adversely affected the population growth of M. tropica. The maximum density was observed at 33 ppt (840 cells/mL). In the diet experiments, M. tropica fed Isochrysis galbana showed the highest density (413 cells/mL) and population growth rate (1.2/day). As a result, M. tropica is appropriate as a potential prey organism for early fish larvae with smaller mouths because the tintinnid has a relatively small size compared to the rotifer. In addition, the conditions of $30^{\circ}C$, 33 ppt and supplying I. galbana would be effective in the cultivation of M. tropica.

  • The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of extracorporeal shock wave therapy for the neck-shouler muscles of complex pain scales of the 20s adults with VDT Syndrome to prolonged smartphone use. Twenty subjects with neck pain due to VDT syndrome participated in the experiment. They were randomly divided into 10 experimental groups and 10 control groups. Experimental subjects were conducted for 4 weeks, 5 days a week. The experimental group was subjected to extracorporeal shock wave therapy 2000 times at an intensity of 5 Hz and 2.0 bar once, and the control group performed self-stretching exercise for 30 minutes once. Subjects measured and compared neck-shoulder pain with VAS and PPT before and after the experiment. Data analysis was performed with SPSS win 18.0, and correspondence comparison was performed to analyze the results of the experimental group and the control group before and after the experiment. After the experiment, the experimental group decreased more in VAS and PPT of the neck-shoulder muscle. but the control group was no difference. Though these results, extracorporeal shock wave therapy was showed a reduction in pain after treatment than before treatment but there are no difference in the pain reduction after self-stretching exercise. Thus, extracorporeal shock wave therapy is expected to be used as a variety of treatments to reduce neck-shoulder pain as a cause of VDT syndrome.

  • This paper proposes a fuel cell education framework installed on a Metaverse environment, which is to reduce the burden of education costs and improve the effect of education or learning. This Meta-Fuel cell platform utilizes the Unity 3D Web and enables not only theoretical education but also hands-on training. The platform was designed and developed to accommodate a variety of unit education contents, such as ppt documents, videos, etc. The platform, therdore, integrates ppt and video demonstrations for theoretical education, as well as software content "STACK-Up" for hands-on training. Theoretical education section provides specialized liberal arts knowledge on hydrogen, including renewable energy, hydrogen economy, and fuel cells. The software "STACK-Up" provides a hands-on practice on assembling the stack parts. Stack is the very core component of fuel cells. The Meta-Fuelcell platform improves the limitations of face-to-face education. It provides educators with the opportunities of non-face-to-face education without restrictions such as educational place, time, and occupancy. On the other hand, learners can choose educational themes, order, etc. It provides educators and learners with interesting experiences to be active in the metaverse space. This platform is being applied experimentally to a education project which is to develop advanced manpower in the fuel cell industry. Its improvement is in progress.

  • Purpose: Enamel matrix derivative (EMD) has demonstrated beneficial effects on wound healing following surgery. However, the effects of recombinant human fibroblast growth factor 2 (rhFGF-2) in periodontal regeneration therapy have not been extensively studied. This retrospective study was conducted to compare the wound healing outcomes of the modified papilla preservation technique (mPPT) between EMD and rhFGF-2 therapies. Methods: A total of 79 sites were evaluated for early wound healing using the modified early wound healing index (mEHI), which included 6 items: incision, fibrin clotting, step, redness, swelling, and dehiscence. A numeric analog scale, along with postoperative images of the 6 mEHI items, was established and used for the evaluations. The inter-rater reliability of the mEHI was assessed via intraclass correlation coefficients (ICCs). After adjusting for factors influencing the mPPT, the differences in mEHI scores between the EMD and rhFGF-2 groups were statistically analyzed. Additionally, radiographic bone fill (RBF) was evaluated 6 months after surgery. Results: The ICC of the mEHI was 0.575. The mEHI, redness score, and dehiscence scores were significantly higher in the rhFGF-2 group (n=33) than in the EMD group (n=46). Similar results were observed in the subgroup of patients aged 50 years or older, but not in those younger than 50 years. In the subgroup with non-contained bone defects, related results were noted, but not in the subgroup with contained bone defects. However, early wound healing did not correlate with RBF at 6 months after surgery. Conclusions: Within the limitations of this study, the findings suggest that early wound healing following the use of mPPT with rhFGF-2 is somewhat superior to that observed after mPPT with EMD. However, mEHI should be improved for use as a predictive tool for early wound healing and to reflect clinical outcomes after surgery.

  • An balanced tapped inductors using RPPT (Regulated Peak Power Tracking) system is proposed. In the series/parallel PPT system battery charger and discharger are operating complementary. So they both can be combined into a single hardware block. Battery charger and dis-charger share same magnetic cores thus can be reduced core weights.
