The Historical Achievement of the South Korean Music Industry

  • The study aims to examine the development of the South Korean music industry over time in order to capture the evolution process of the industry from its initial stages to its current state as one of the world's leading music markets. Based on the above consideration, a systematic literature review was conducted in order to provide an overview of the achievements of the South Korean music industry with the help of PRISMA method. The reason for doing this is to ensure that the process of selecting, filtering and collecting literature from different sources is not only efficient and time-saving but also rigid and coherent. This paper will explore the various elements that have defined the industry, including culture, technology, marketing and government policies and regulations (Jang & Song, 2017). Furthermore, it will inquire the effects of the K-pop cultural export on other industries, whether it be tourism, fashion, consumer goods, and more, thereby illustrating its vast significance. In more detail, this study aims to give an adequate idea about the historical accomplishments of the South Korean music industry in the global music map, identify factors that facilitated the enhancement of the industry and examine the significance of the findings and their applications for the industry's progression and development in the future.

Online Music Distribution Strategy to Develop the future Hallyu Music Industry

  • Purpose: The main aim of this study is to analyze and suggest new online music distribution models targeted to facilitate the development of the Korean Wave (Hallyu) music market in all locations of the world. This study is conducted through a close analysis of the prevailing distribution models, the unique challenges of the K-pop market, and the trends in new technologies. Research design, data and methodology: To address the issue of how the online music distribution market could be domesticated for the Korean music industry, a systematic review of the previous studies was conducted. The use of the PRISMA approach was followed so that an accurate and transparent method for choosing the studies is ensured. Results: According to the investigation of literature analysis, the online distribution strategy may consist of four key plannings as follows, 1. Leveraging Social Media and User-Generated Content Platforms, 2. Embracing Immersive and Interactive Experiences, 3. Fostering Direct-to-Fan Connections and Monetization, 4. Harnessing Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Analytics. Conclusions: Finally, collaboration and strategic partnerships will be vital. The Korean music companies should seek to cooperate with the technology companies, social media platforms, and the global music streaming services so that they can grow their market, acquire new technologies, and to better their online distribution strategies.

Horizontal and vertical movement patterns of yellowtail (Seriola quinqueradiata) in the East Sea of Korea

  • The bio-logging method could be a valuable approach to studying the underwater movement of marine fish. We investigated the horizontal and vertical movement patterns of two yellowtails Seriola quinqueradiata weighing 8.7 kg and 9.5 kg with a popup satellite archival tag from October 2020 to January 2021 in the East Sea of Korea. Our results showed that a yellowtail migrated northward in October and November, and then shifted southward in mid-December. The average swimming depth and temperature of the fish monitored over 82 days were 24.9 ± 9.3 m (average ± SD) and 16.5 ± 1.9℃, respectively, and the total traveled distance was 1,172.4 km. The fish swam significantly deeper during the daytime (33.70 ± 14.80 m) than at nighttime (20.65 ± 8.44 m) from November to December (p < 0.05). These results suggest that the horizontal migratory route of yellowtails in accordance with the East Korea Warm Current which is the main branch of Tsushima Warm Current in the fall and early winter seasons, and showed significant diel vertical movement patterns from November to December.

The "Korean Turn" in Philippine Popular Culture: The Story So Far

  • In this paper, I will pursue initial ideas I formulated in 2012 about the permeation of Korean influences in Philippine popular culture, particularly in the production of serialized TV drama/soap operas or the "teleserye" [tele for television + "serye" or series; thus, TV drama series]. I called the phenomenon the "Korean Turn" as I observed the emulation of Korean televisual drama (nowadays called K-Drama) modes and practices by local production through various means of cultural appropriation. This time, I will expand my exploration to other aspects of Philippine entertainment and other cultural practices. I will also update my observations on the continuing "Korean turn" in the teleserye. I will argue, on the one hand, about the success and soft power of hallyu or the "Korean wave" in the Philippines; and on the other, about Philippine culture's enduring ingenuity in its reception and repurposing of hallyu. Ideas to be yielded here will form part of a potential framework in understanding the dynamics of the interface between Korean and Philippine cultures, in the context of globalization. I assert that popular culture remains to be an undervalued field of inquiry, as far as these contexts are concerned.

K 패션 착용경험에 관한 연구 -20~30대 네팔, 베트남, 몽골 외국인을 중심으로- (A Study on Foreigners' Experience ofWearingK Fashion -Focusing on Nepalese, Vietnamese, and Mongolian Foreigners in 20s and 30s-)

  • This study aimed to investigate the perceptions and preferences of foreigners residing in Korea towards K-fashion. It sought to provide suggestions for the future development of K-fashion targeting this growing demographic. The results revealed that the longer foreigners had lived in Korea, the more positively they rated Korean fashion, shopping, and culture. The majority of foreigners purchased K-fashion items online, with popular choices including T-shirts, jackets, shirts, and jeans. Both men and women identified shoulders as a common problematic area when wearing clothing, with some issues also reported in the lumbar region. In terms of preferences, younger males (teens and twenties) were more inclined towards fads and celebrity wear compared to older males (thirties and forties). Similarly, younger females (teens and twenties) showed a higher preference for functionality and celebrity wear compared to older females (thirties and forties). These findings suggest that men tend to prioritize aesthetic factors when choosing K-fashion, while women prioritize practical considerations. To better cater to foreign consumers, suggestions for the development of K-fashion include promoting it through K-pop stars, considering dimensions related to foreigners' shoulders when designing top items, diversifying colors, sizes, and patterns, and providing English versions of online shopping platforms.

팔당호의 영양염류 장기변동 추세분석 (Long-Term Trend Analysis of Nutrient Concentrations at Lake Paldang)

  • The purpose of this study was to understand of water quality characteristics of lake Paldang, especially at a certain representative site, right in front of Paldang dam ($P_2$ site) and to propose the directions of water quality management of lake Paldang. Water characteristics at $P_2$ site was investigated by principle components analysis and the Pearson correlation coefficient analysis. Also, seasonality was identified by the Kruskal-Wallis test and long term trend of nutrients and chlorophyll-a was analyzed by seasonal decomposition method at lake Paldang statistically. The primary factor affecting on water quality at $P_2$ site was identified as nutrients, while physical parameters, such as rainfall and inflow rate were also important factors. At the result of linear regression analysis particulate organic phosphorus (POP) vs total phosphorus (TP) showed very high correlation of 0.78. TP loading was increased annually from 1995 to 2006. Chlorophyll-a and nutrients show seasonality at $P_2$ site. Long term trend of Chlorophyll-a was increased by increase of TP at lake Paldang.

  • The purpose of this study is to rediscover the hidden value of non-mainstreamers style which has been overlooked for the past decade by investigate the aesthetics and formative features of the Grunge fashion. The Grunge fashion was derived from explosive popularity of the early 90's grunge music. Grunge was the alternative anti-thesis against mainstream pop music and anti-fashion against mainstream fashion. Dirty, rubbish grunge style of the poor street youth and grunge musicians have raised to the high fashion by designers. And These trial of designers made people to notice the value of the non-mainstreamers street style like grunge. Actually, the grunge brought the shock with many argument to the 90's fashion field. But now, It became the classic of the street fashion. And It has potent influence on the music, culture and high fashion. The Grunge is a kind of links between music and fashion, street fashion and high fashion, sub culture and mainstream culture, the past and now. Grunge isn't only a fashion of appearance. It is the attitude of wearing clothes and living a life. Variety grunge style in the international street fashion, high fashion, typical musicians's fashion of the 1990's and the 2000's was researched for this study. These materials were gathered from music magazines, fashion magazines, movies, musics and books. As a results of analysis, Grunge has the formative features like mix & match, layering, patchwork, primitive edge, rag, retro, recycle, kinderwhore, sneer scribbling, disheveled hair. Grunge also has the Aesthetic features like the beauty of $disorder{\cdot}\;disharmony{\cdot}\;incompleteness{\cdot}\;kitsch{\cdot}\;poverty{\cdot}\;alternative{\cdot}\;eclectic{\cdot}$symbiosis. For the last 10 years, These features changed our fashion be more pluralistic and dynamic.

3D 파노라마 가상 현실 기술을 이용한 지질 답사 학습 자료의 개발과 적용 (Development and Application of Virtual Geological Field Trip Program using 3D Panorama Virtual Reality Technique)

  • 본 연구에서는 전라북도 부안군 채석강 지역에 대한 3D파노라마 가상 현실 지질 답사 투어 학습자료를 개발하였다. 개발된 프로그램은 $360^{\circ}{\times}180^{\circ}$ 파노라마로서 관측 지점의 모든 면을 볼 수 있고, 확대, 축소, 화면 돌리기 등의 상호작용이 가능하다. 이 프로그램의 교육적 효과를 얻기 위해 컴파스 활용하기, 지층의 경사 등을 측정하기 위한 이동 가능한 각도기 제공, 관찰 지점의 표본에 대한 3D 관찰하기 등을 제공하였다. 또 주요 관찰 포인트에는 확대된 사진, 팝업창, 전문가 설명 등으로 학습을 도왔다. 이 프로그램의 교육적 효과를 알아보기 위하여 중학교 과학 영재반 학생 35명에게 적용해본 결과 약 85% 이상의 긍정적인 반응을 보여주었다. 따라서 이 프로그램은 중학교 과학과 지질학 수업 시 간접적 상황학습이 될 수 있고, 시간문제, 비용문제, 안전문제 등을 줄일 수 있는 하나의 보충적인 지질 답사 방법이 될 것이다.

  • 최근 전자상거래의 발전과 인터넷 사용자의 급증으로 온라인 상에서 수많은 광고들이 서비스되고 있다. 하지만 이러한 광고서비스는 사용자들의 성향 분석을 기초로 하기보다는 해당 광고의 일방적 서비스에 그치고 있다. 따라서 많은 웹사이트들이 해당 광고의 효율적 서비스를 위해 개인화된 광고서비스를 원하고 있고 해당 서버의 로그 분석을 통한 서비스를 연구 및 시행하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 개인화된 광고 서비스를 가능하게 하는 비교적 간단한 적응형 시스템을 설계하고, 그 성능을 실험하였다. 개인의 성향을 시스템에 가장 효율적으로 반영하기 위하여 개인 컴퓨터의 히스토리 파일을 원시 데이터로 하여 정제후 사용하여 이 파일을 이용하므로 해당 서버를 방문한 자에 한해서만 성향을 파악할수 있는 단점을 극복하여 고객이 다른 서버의 방문 기록도 활용하므로 좀더 현실성 있는 성향 파악이 가능하게 하였다.

감성 전달을 위한 UCC 동영상 편집 방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on UCC Video Editing for Sensibility Delivery)

  • UCC(User Created Contents) 동영상은 온라인상에서 사용자가 상업적인 의도없이 제작한 '감성 전달' 매체로서 최근 인터넷 대중문화의 핵심 콘텐츠로 급부상하였다. '감성 전달'은 UCC 동영상의 궁극적인 목적으로 '기 승 전 결'의 스토리텔링(Storytelling)이 뒷받침되어야 가능하다. 그러나 비상업적인 UCC 동영상은 불안정한 제작 환경, 다양한 변수들로 인하여 완성도 높은 작품을 기대하기 어렵다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 불안정한 UCC 동영상의 문제점을 최소화하기 위해 편집 단계에서 '세부적인 스토리텔링 편집' 과정을 제안하였다. 연구자의 실무 결과물과 UCC 동영상 공모전 수상작품을 토대로 연구한 이 제안은 공감대를 키우고, 창의적인 변화를 유도하며, 통일성있는 마무리 편집으로 작품의 완성도를 높임으로서 '감성 전달'의 기능을 확대할 수 있다.
