In this paper, we deal with an access network design problem of fiber-to-the-home passive optical network (FTTH-PON). The FTTH-PON network design problem seeks to minimize the total cost of optical splitters and cables that provide optical connectivity between central office and subscribers. We develop a flow-based mixed integer programming (MIP) model with nonlinear link cost. By developing valid inequalities and preprocessing rules, we enhance the strength of the proposed MIP model in generating tight lower bounds for the problem. We develop an effective Tabu Search (TS) heuristic algorithm that provides good quality feasible solutions to the problem. Computational results demonstrate that the valid inequalities and preprocessing rules are effective for improving the LP-relaxation lower bound and TS algorithm finds good quality solutions within reasonable time bounds.

FASN GX는 광대역 서비스를 제공하기에 적합한 ATM-PON 시스템을 경제적인 구축의 방법으로 설정하였다. 현재, 다수의 통신 사업자들은 가입자망 구조로서 ATM-PON 시스템 구조를 채택하고 있는 실정이다. ATM-PON 시스템의 상향에서는 멀티플렉싱이 발생한다. 그러므로 멀티플렉싱의 효과적인 자원을 위해서 매체접근제어 프로토콜이 구비되어야 한다. 실제로, 충돌 해결을 위한 알고리즘으로서 tree 알고리즘을 제안하는 많은 MAC 프로토콜 제안서가 있다.[1,2,3,4] 이 tree 알고리즘은 안정되고, 예측 가능하고, 실행 가능한 주요 장점을 제공한다. 그러나 이 알고리즘은 시간에 민감한 높은 우선순위의 트래픽이 들어올 경우에는 성능이 좋지 못하다. 이 논문에서는 ATM 환경의 멀티레벨 서비스를 지원하는데 유용한 새로운 DQT(Double Queue Tree based)알고리즘을 제안한다. 그리고 알고리즘의 처리시간과 지연시간을 IEEE802.14에서 제안된 Tree 알고리즘과 비교하여 시뮬레이션 결과를 제시한다.

This paper proposes a new dynamic wavelength allocation algorithm for TWDM PON (time and wavelength division multiplexed passive optical network) which comprises of multiple ONUs (optical network units) which have low-speed wavelength tuner. The wavelength tuner requires large amount of frame times to tune its wavelength. An OLT (optical line termination) performs a dynamic bandwidth allocation after the wavelengths of ONUs are determined.

This paper describes performance evaluation results of a new dynamic bandwidth allocation algorithm for an XG-PON (10-Gbps-capable passive optical network) system without using an explicit request. An ONU (optical network unit) does not send its request to an OLT (optical line termination). The OLT monitors the upstream bandwidth usage of the ONU to estimate the request of the ONU.

This paper reviews the optical link technologies which have been developed for gigabit-per-second wavelength-division-multiplexing passive optical networks (WDM-PONs). Similarly to the 100Mb/s WDM-PON systems which have been deployed for trial services by KT, the most important requirement for 1Gb/s WDM-PON is wavelength independence (colorless feature) of its ONU/ONTs, which makes possible convenient operation and cost-effective maintenance with minimum inventory cost. Among various methods to implement such colorless feature, four promising candidates for gigabit WDM-PON are analyzed with their own development issues and their expected performances are compared.

ATM-PON은 다중점 연결을 가능케 하는 망으로 이의 핵심 기술에는 레인징 기술이 포함된다. 하지만 이 레인징 기술 측면에서는 ATM-PON 망의 생존성을 고려해 볼 때, ATM-PON 시스템이 망 장애에도 불구하고 가입자에게 계속적인 서비스를 제공하기 위해서는 대체선로로의 보호 절제를 수행해야 하나 이때 주로 선로와 대체 선로 간의 거리차에 의한 트래픽 충돌 문제가 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 보호 절제가 일어날 때 이러한 레이징의 문제를 해결하기 위하여 전송 지연 초기 결정 방식(방안1), OLT 내 지연 방식(방안 2), 혼합형 방식(방안 3)의 세가지 해결 방안을 제안하였고, ITU-T G.983.1에서 제시한 네 가지 보호 절제 구성을 통해 각 방식을 비교 분석하였으며, 이들의 장. 단점을 파악하여 각각의 시스템에 적합한 방식을 제시하였다.

This paper develops an integrated optic transmitter/receiver based on ring-type WDM PON. The optic transmitter/receiver can transmit real-time images from the CCTV of a remote street without compression and transmit TCP/IP data using an optic fiber. This system can also perform remote controls of the CCTV camera. The developed optic transmitter/receiver can provide the monitoring service of an advanced image quality of remote traffic using a broadband technology.

We study signal characteristics of the injection-locked Fabry-Perot laser diodes(FP-LDs) for the development of a costeffective WDM-PON solution. The output power and system performance of WDM-PON using injection locked FP-LD are depend on optical characteristics of injection source. The effect of optical power and polarization state of the injection source experimentally investigated. We also measured BER characteristics of the directly modulated FPLD and its power penalty at the BER of $10^{-9}$.

파장 다중 분할 Ethernet PON(Passive Optical Network)은 최근 들어 활발하게 연구되고 있는 경제적이고 효율적인 가입자망 구조이다. 가입자망의 구조가 다양하게 진화하고 광 이더넷 기술이 발전하면서 가입자에게 최적의 대역폭을 할당하기 위해 파장 다중 분할 Ethernet PON에서도 서비스별 대역폭 할당방식을 제공해야 할 필요성이 커지고 있다. 따라서, 본 논문에서는 사용자의 대역폭 요구에 따라 OLT(Optical Line Termination)가 각 ONU(Optical Network Unit)에게 서로 다른 방식으로 대역폭을 할당하는 과장 다중 분할 Ethernet PON 모델을 제시하고 구현한다. 그리고, ONU의 큐잉 지연과 단대단 Etherent 지연에 대한 분석을 통해 모델의 효율성을 제시한다.

Ethernet PON(Passive Optical Network)에서 핵심 기술 중의 하나인 MAC(Media Access Control) 프로토콜은 ONU(Optical Network틴nit)들이 상향으로 트래픽을 전송할 때 공유되어 있는 링크상의 충돌을 방지하고, 효율적인 대역폭을 할당하기 위한 스케줄링 알고리즘을 포함하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 차세대 가입자 망인 Ethernet PON에서 상향으로의 대역폭 부족을 개선하기 위하여, n개의 파장을 사용한 가변 슬롯 할당 TDMA(Time Division Multiple Access) 방식의 MAC 프로토콜을 제안한다. 이를 검증하기 위하여 OPNET 시뮬레이션 도구를 이용해 Ethernet PON 모델을 설계하고 시뮬레이션 한다.
