  • Objective: The purpose of this study was to examine the effectiveness of pelvic displacement when self-hamstring muscle stretches were applied to persons with low back pain. Design: Three-group pretest-posttest design. Methods: Forty persons with low back pain participated in this study. Pelvic tilt angle, hamstring flexibility, Quadruple Visual Analogue Scale (QVAS), Fear Avoidance Beliefs Questionnaire (FABQ), Korea version of the Oswestry Disability Index (KODI) and pelvic mobility were measured at pre-post. All participants were divided into either the pevic anterior tilt group (PAT group, n=12), pelvic midrange group (PMR group, n=18), or the pelvic posterior tilt group (PPT group, n=10). Self-stretching was performed using the pilates ring three times a week for a total of four weeks and the post-test was conducted and compared with the pre-test. Results: Hamstring flexibility, QVAS, KODI scores were significantly different compared to before the intervention (p<0.05). The changes in hamstring flexibility of the three groups were significantly different (p<0.05). Changes in KODI and FABQ results of the three groups were not significant. The pelvic posterior tilt range were significantly different in the PMR and PPT groups (p<0.05). The pelvic anterior tilt ranges showed significant differences after stretching in the PPT group (p<0.05). Conclusions: A large amount of change of hamstring flexibility, pelvic mobility of anterior and posterior tilt test in the PPT group was observed. Furthermore, therapists should consider pelvic displacement of the participant when applying intervention, which may, accordingly, have different effectiveness.

  • In this paper, we investigate the performances of the serial concatenated convolutional codes (SCCC) and low-density parity-check (LDPC) codes on perpendicular magnetic recording (PMR) channels. We discuss the performance of two systems when user bit-densities are 1.7, 2.0, 2.4 and 2.8, respectively. The SCCC system is less complex than LDPC system. The SCCC system consists of recursive systematic convolutional (RSC) codes encoder/decoder, precoder and random interleaver. The decoding algorithm of the SCCC system is the soft message-passing algorithm and the decoding algorithm of the LDPC system is the log domain sum-product algorithm (SPA). When we apply the iterative decoding between channel detector and the error control codes (ECC) decoder, the SCCC system is compatible with the LDPC system even at the high user bit density.

  • Many kinds of communication systems will be co-existed in the next generation communication environment. Location management will be one of the most important strategies in the future communication network. Whether the user gets the service in any kind of communication system, it is required to know the location of the user properly and manages this location information efficiently. In this paper, mobile IP and WCDMA systems are considered as next generation communication systems. We improve the performance of communication in heterogeneous networks adjusting the conventional region-based location management strategy in homogeneous network. This strategy can be adjusted dynamically to the communication system on the basis of packet-to-mobility ratio (PMR) in mobile IP system or call-to-mobility ratio (CMR) in WCDMA system, lots of different system parameters, and movement pattern of the user. This can be also based on the performance analysis with considering signaling cost and database access cost.

  • This paper adapts the World Bank Regulatory Quality Index (RQI), which is produced annually to provide a better understanding of the effects of regulatory reforms, instead of the Production Market Regulation (PMR) indicators, which are published every five years. We find that 9.9 to 36.0 billion USD worth of regulatory cost could be reduced if the regulatory quality in Korea improves to the level of the OECD average considering that the total burden of regulation in Korea is estimated to range from 2.2 to 357.4 billion USD. The estimated reduction in the regulatory cost accounts for roughly 0.76 to 2.47% of Korea's GDP in 2013, underscoring the importance of regulatory reforms for the Korean economy. This paper introduces a new method with which to examine the distribution of regulatory costs across different industries and firm sizes. This alternative method is largely consistent with the conclusions reached by other studies, specifically that small firms typically bear a disproportionate regulatory burden.

  • Measurement of water is a subject of continued interest. High resolution proton magnetic resonance has not been very effective in the determination of water. Especially spectral overlap with other proton signals from the sample is undesirable result. However, trifluoroacetic anhydride reacts with water and forms trifluoroacetic acid and the proton signal of trifluoroacetic acid did not overlap with that of samples. By use of this fact, water in acetone, ethyl ether, dioxane, dichloroethane and methyl isobutyl ketone is analyzed by high resolution proton magnetic resonance (PMR). This method is capable of detecting as little as 200ppm of $H_{2}O$. And it is very rapid, simple and accurate.

  • Three non-alkaloidal constituents, (-)-loliolide as an iridoid, friedelin as a triterpenoid, and ${\beta}-sitosterol$ as a steroid, were isolated by fractional extraction and silica gel column chromatography from the herb of Commelina communis L. (Commelinaceae). The structures of the native components were elucidated on the basis of physical and spectral (UV, IR, PMR, CMR, and mass spectra) data.

  • By using electron beam evaporation under appropriate conditions, we obtained graphene intercalated sheets on Si(111) with an average crystallite size less than 11nm. The formation of such nanocrystalline graphene was found as a time-dependent function of carbon deposition at a substrate temperature of $1000^{\circ}C$. The structural and electronic properties as well as the surface morphology of such produced materials have been confirmed by reflection high energy electron diffraction, Auger electron spectroscopy, X-ray photoemission spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy and scanning tunneling microscopy.

  • For perpendicular magnetic recording channels, it is hard to expect improving the performance by using the PRML or NPML. Hence, we exploit LDPC code to improve the performance. In this paper, we examine a single message-passing detector/decoder matched to the combination of a perpendicular magnetic recording channel detector and an LDPC code decoder. We examine the performance of channel iteration with joint LDPC code on perpendicular magnetic recording channel, and simplify the complexity of the message-passing detector algorithm.

  • A new iridoid glucoside was isolated from the whole plant of Ajuga spectabilis Nakai (Jaran-cho; Labiatae). This compound was obtained as white plate-like crystal and named as Jaranidoside. It has a molecular formula $C_{17}H_{26}O_{12}$ and mp $128{\sim}130^{\circ}C$. The structure of the Jaranidoside was assumed from data of chemical reactions and PMR specturum of the compound. To determine the most favorable conformation, informations on the proton coupling and chemical shift were used. Jaranidoside exhibited a stimulating activity on smooth muscle and cardiac muscle. No antimicrobial activity on five microorganism strains was observed.
