In this paper, an effective feature which is capable of classifying targets among the detections obtained from 2D range-bearing maps generated in active sonar environments is proposed. Most conventional approaches for target classification with the 2D maps have considered magnitude of peak and statistical features of the area surrounding the peak. To improve the classification performance, HOG(Histogram of Gradient) feature, which is popular for their robustness in the image textures analysis is applied. In order to classify the target signal, SVM(Support Vector Machine) method with reduced HOG feature by the PCA(Principal Component Analysis) algorithm is incorporated. The various simulations are conducted with the real clutter signal data and the synthesized target signal data. According to the simulated results, the proposed method considering HOG feature is claimed to be effective when classifying the active sonar target compared to the conventional methods.

The RF transceiver system is consisted of the transmitting and receiving unit, RF front-end unit, and high power amplification unit. The transmitting and receiving unit has the functions of frequency up/down converting and channel changing. The RF front-end unit has the functions of transmitting and receiving signal duplexing, antenna selection, small signal amplification, and frequency filtering excluding the receiving signal. The high power amplification unit has the functions of ku-band power amplification and transmitting power variation(High/Middle/Low/Mute). The frequency up/down converting of transmitting and receiving unit is designed by using the superheterodyne method. The RF transceiver system is designed to obtain the broadband and high linearity properties for the reliable transmission and reception of high data-rate and high speed data. Also, the channel changing function is designed to use selectively the frequency as the operation environment of UAV.
Purpose: In this study, a reliability prediction based reliability growth management is suggested especially for the early development phase of a system and the case study of surveillance system is given. Methods: The proposed reliability prediction based reliability growth management procedures consists of 7 Steps. In Step 1, the stages for reliability growth management are classified according to the major design changes. From Step 2 to Step 5, system reliability is predicted based on reliability structures and the predicted reliabilities of subsystems (Level 2) and modules (Level 3). At each stage, by comparing the predicted system reliability with that of the previous stage, the reliability growth of the system is checked in Step 6. In Step 7, when the predicted value of sustem reliability does not satisfy the reliability goal, some design alternatives are considered and suggested to improve the system reliability. Results: The proposed reliability prediction based reliability growth management can be an efficient alternative for managing reliability growth of a system in its early development phase. The case study shows that it is applicable to weapon system such as a surveillance system. Conclusion: In this study, the procedures for a reliability prediction based reliability growth management are proposed to satisfy the reliability goal of the system efficiently. And it is expected that the use of the proposed procedures would reduce, in the test and evaluation phase, the number of corrective actions and its cost as well.

The importance of interoperability between weapon systems is continuously increasing. Usually it is implemented by data exchange. The existence of information heterogeneities between systems decreases the efficiency and quality of the implementations enterprise-widely. Many other developed countries increase the efficiency and quality of the implementations by using information exchange model commonly. However, Korean military is still not aware of the importance and necessity of the model. This study explains the necessity of development and adaptation of the Korea command and control information exchange model(KC2IEM), and presents the methodology for the development of the model, and verifies and improves it through a prototype model development. The completion of the information exchange model could not be possible by academic research, therefore this study contributes as a motivation and a stepping stone for the following developments.
During the rhizoremediation of diesel-contaminated soil, methane (CH4), a representative greenhouse gas, is emitted as a result of anaerobic metabolism of diesel. The application of methantrophs is one of solutions for the mitigation CH4 emissions during the rhizoremediation of diesel-contaminated soil. In this study, CH4-oxidizing rhizobacteria, Methylocystis sp. JHTF4 and Methyloversatilis sp. JHM8, were isolated from rhizosphere soils of tall fescue and maize, respectively. The maximum CH4 oxidation rates for the strains JHTF4 and JHM8 were 65.8 and 33.8 mmol·g-DCW-1·h-1, respectively. The isolates JHTF4 and JHM8 couldn't degrade diesel. The inoculation of the isolate JHTF4 or JHM8 significantly enhanced diesel removal during rhizoremediation of diesel-contaminated soil planted with maize for 63 days. Diesel removal in the tall fescue-planting soil was enhanced by inoculating the isolates until 50 days, while there was no significant difference in removal efficiency regardless of inoculation at day 63. In both the maize and tall fescue planting soils, the CH4 oxidation potentials of the inoculated soils were significantly higher than the potentials of the non-inoculated soils. In addition, the gene copy numbers of pmoA, responsible for CH4 oxidation, in the inoculated soils were significantly higher than those in the non-inoculated soils. The gene copy numbers ratio of pmoA to 16S rDNA (the ratio of methanotrophs to total bacteria) in soil increased during rhizoremediation. These results indicate that the inoculation of Methylocystis sp. JHTF4 and Methyloversatilis sp. JHM8, is a promising strategy to minimize CH4 emissions during the rhizoremediation of diesel-contaminated soil using maize or tall fescue.

Diversification of project delivery methods (PDM) under ever-changing construction business environment has significantly changed the role of project participants. Active efforts to effectively sharing the roles and responsibilities have been observed in the project management offices (PMOs) among owner/operator organizations as well as engineering, procurement, construction and maintenance (EPCM) firms. In order for being effective in a holistic way throughout the project life-cycle, a PMO needs to have 'adequate management skills' as well as 'essential technical capabilities' in cooperating with many different participants. One of the well-known examples of the PMO's tool to support these skills and capabilities is the effective 'work packaging (WP)' that serves as a common basis integrating all relevant information in a structured manner. In an attempt to enhance the construction productivity, the concept of 'advanced work packing (AWP)' has been introduced by Construction Industry Institute (CII). The AWP enables productivity to be improved by early planning of construction packages in the design phase "with the end in mind". The purpose of this study is to identify and evaluate the 'variables' of advanced work packing (AWP) for life-cycle information integration. Firstly, an extended concept of advanced WP based on the CII AWP was defined in order to comprehend many different issues of business functions (e.g. cost, schedule, quality, etc.). A structured list of major components and variables of AWP were then identified and examined for practical viability with real-world examples. Strategic fits and managerial effectiveness were stressed throughout the analyses. Findings, implications and lessons learned are briefly discussed as well.

Setting RAM target value for a defense system plays a crucial role in the development and design phases and the production phase as well. It is apparent that the achieved RAM target value can help maximizing the combat capability of a defense system and improving its performance throughout the system's life cycle from acquisition phase to disposal. Usually a defense system operates according to its OMS/MP (Operational Mode Summary / Mission Profile) and it consists of several subsystems which are supposed to be operated at each utilization rate under its operating conditions and the mission profiles assigned. In this study, a method of setting RAM target value is proposed for a defense system that are composed of several independent subsystems considering their utilization rates and the mission profiles assigned. And the case study of applying the proposed method of setting RAM target value to system A is dealt with.
This paper presents a new interference cancellation method to remove the oscillation due to feedback signal of RF relay. In this paper, we estimate the feedback signal using to LMS(Least Mean Square) algorithm and remove the interference through attenuation signal arbitrary corresponding to feedback signal. From the various performance analysis for various doppler effects, a proposed method prevents from oscillation using -30dB attenuation signal as a cancellation value of feedback signal.

A new CMOS buffer removing short-circuit power consumption is proposed. The gate-driving signal of the pull-up(pull-down) transistor at the output is controlled by delayed internal signal to get tri-state output momentarily by shunting off the path of the short-circuit current. The SPICE simulation results verified the operation of the proposed buffer and showed the enhancement of the power-delay product at 3.3V supply voltage about 42% comparing to the conventional tapered CMOS buffer(1).
