비귀금속 합금을 이용한 주조체의 주조성과 Roughness에 관한 연구 (A Study on Castability and Roughness of the Casts Using Non-precious Alloys)

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the castability and surface roughness of the casts using Non-percious alloys. For samples of 25 wax patterns, it is made from eight layers of sheet wax, arranged in the escalating layers. After fabricated wax patterns, using 5 kinds of Ni-Cr alloys is casted, and the casts are sandblasted. To castability, magnifier is used and values of surface roughness of the casts is measured with profilometer(tracing length 1.75mm, cutoff value 0.25mm) The results are as follows : 1. The castanbility of alloys, in case of C alloys, showed with $8.0{\pm}0.0000$, and in case of CS alloys and N alloys showed equal with $7.8{\pm}0.4472$, respectively. T alloys and V alloys showed equal with $7.2{\pm}0.4472$, respectively. 2. The values of surface roughness of the casts are decreased more T alloys than in case of order alloys, and in order, increased in case of CS alloys, C alloys, V alloys, N alloys, respectively.

국부의치(局部義齒) 제작(製作)에 사용(使用)되는 귀금속합금(貴金屬合金)과 비귀금속합금(非貴金屬合金)의 재(再) 사용(使用) 횟수에 따른 주조성(鑄造性) 비교(比較) 연구(硏究) (The Comparative Study on the Castability to the Frequency of Reuse with Precious Metal Alloys and Base Metal Alloys widely used in the Production of Partial Denture)

  • The purpose of this study is to get the difference of the castability in the production of partial denture between Precious Metal Alloys and Base Metal Alloys accompanied with the frequency of reuse. As materials for an experiment, we selected Baker-444 and Soo-444 and Soo-sung as Precious Metal Alloys, New Crown and Chrome Cobalt as Base Metal Alloys. And we tired to case all of them seven times. The experimental results were as follows : 1) In the probability of segments, Baker-444 showed 100$\pm$0.00%, Soo-sung 97.24$\pm$1.58%, New Crown 95.63$\pm$4.28%, and Chrome Cobalt 91.03$\pm$7.76%. Consequently, Precious Metal Alloys were decidely superior to Base Metal Alloys in the castability. 2) In the view of the acheived result, burn-out temperature and smocking time had greatly affected the castability. 3) After casting, Precious Metal Alloys were much less than Base Metal Alloys in the quantity of consumption. It made much difference from the the compiled stastics(p<0.01)

Properties of experimental copper-aluminium-nickel alloys for dental post-and-core applications

  • PURPOSE. This study aimed to develop a copper-aluminium-nickel alloy which has properties comparable to that of dental alloys used for dental post and core applications with the reasonable cost. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Sixteen groups of experimental copper alloys with variants of 3, 6, 9, 12 wt% Al and 0, 2, 4, 6 wt% Ni were prepared and casted. Their properties were tested and evaluated. The data of thermal, physical, and mechanical properties were analyzed using the two-way ANOVA and Tukey's test (${\alpha}$=0.05). The alloy toxicity was evaluated according to the ISO standard. RESULTS. The solidus and liquidus points of experimental alloys ranged from $1023^{\circ}C$ to $1113^{\circ}C$ and increased as the nickel content increased. The highest ultimate tensile strength ($595.9{\pm}14.2$ MPa) was shown in the Cu-12Al-4Ni alloy. The tensile strength was increased as the both elements increased. Alloys with 3-6 wt% Al exhibited a small amount of 0.2% proof strength. Accordingly, the Cu-9Al-2Ni and Cu-9Al-4Ni alloys not only demonstrated an appropriate modulus of elasticity ($113.9{\pm}8.0$ and $122.8{\pm}11.3$ GPa, respectively), but also had a value of 0.2% proof strength ($190.8{\pm}4.8$ and $198.2{\pm}3.4$ MPa, respectively), which complied with the ISO standard requirement (>180 MPa). Alloys with the highest contents of nickel (6 wt% Ni) revealed a widespread decolourisation zone (5.0-5.9 mm), which correspondingly produced the largest cell response, equating positive control. CONCLUSION. The copper alloys fused with 9 wt% Al and 2-4 wt% Ni can be considered for a potential use as dental post and core applications.

가공의치(架工義齒) 납착부(蠟着部)의 강도(强度)와 내부구조(內部構造)에 관(關)한 실험적(實驗的) 연구(硏究) (An experimental study of the strength and internal structure of solder joint of fixed partial denture)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate how gap distances of 0.13mm, 0.15mm, 0.20mm, and 0.30mm affects solder joint strength from gold alloys and nickel-chromium base alloys and to examine the composition of solder gold, the solder joint of gold alloys and nickel-chromium base alloys. The tensile test specimens were prepared in the split stainless steel mold with a half dumbbell shape 2.5mm in diameter and l2mm in length. 6 pairs of specimens of each gap distance group of gold alloys and nickel-chromium base alloys were made and 48 pairs of all specimens were soldered with solder gold of 666 fineness. All soldered specimens were machined to a uniform diameter and then a tensile load was applied at a cross-head speed of 0.10mm/min using Instron Universal Testing Machine, Model 1115. The fractured specimens at solder gold of solder joint fracture with each gap distance of 0.13mm, 0.15mm, 0.20mm, and 0.30mm were examined under the Scanning Electron Microscope, JSM-35c and the composition of solder gold, the solder joint of gold alloys and nickel-chromium base alloys was analyzed by Electron Probe Micro Analyzer. The results of this study were obtained as follows: 1. In case of soldering of gold alloys, the tensile strength between gold alloys showed $37.33{\pm}2.52kg/mm^2$ at 0.13, $39.14{\pm}3.35kg/mm^2$ at 0.15mm, $43.76{\pm}2.97kg/mm^2$ at 0.20mm, and $49.18{\pm}4.60kg/mm^2$ at 0.30mm. There was statistically significant difference at each gap distance, and so the greater increase of gap distance showed the greater tensile strength. 2. In case of soldering of nickel-chromium base alloys, the tensile strength between nickel-chromium base alloys showed $34.84{\pm}4.26kg/mm^2$ at 0.13mm, $37.25{\pm}2.49kg/mm^2$ at 0.15mm, $42.91{\pm}4.32kg/mm^2$ at 0.20mm, and $46.93{\pm}4.21kg/mm^2$ at 0.30mm. There was not statistically significant difference only between 0.13mm and 0.15mm and bet ween 0.20 mm and 0.30mm, but generally the greater increase of gap distance showed the greater tensile strength. 3. The greater increase of gap distance shoed less porosities in solder gold at solder joint fracture. 4. In solder gold Au, Cu, Ag, Zn, and Sn were composed and Au and Cu were mostly distributed uniformly. 5. In solder joints of solder gold and gold alloys Au, Cu, Ag, Zn, and Sn were composed in solder gold and Au, Cu, Ag, Pt, and Pd were composed in gold alloys. Au and Cu of solder gold and gold alloys were mostly distributed uniformly and the diffusion of other elements except Pt and Pd around the solder joint was not almost found. In solder joints of solder gold and nickel-chromium base alloys Au, Cu, Ag, Zn, and Sn were composed in solder gold and Ni, Cr, and Al were composed in nickel-chromium base alloys. Au and Cu of solder gold and Ni and Cr of nickel-chromium base alloys were mostly distributed uniformly and the diffusion of other elements except Cr around the solder joint was not almost found.

Advancement in Powder Metallurgy of Aluminum Alloys

  • Along with the growth of conventional ferrous powder metallurgy (PM), PM of aluminum alloys has been intensively investigated in Japan. Although rapidly solidified aluminum alloy powder was first used in the USA,/sup 1)/ commercialization for consumer market was first realized in Japan./sup 2)/ In order to achieve the viable cost-performance including Near Net Shape (NNS) formability, we developed three processes, powder extrusion, powder forging and sintering. The new powder extrusion process does not use either capsulation or vacuum degassing. The new powder forging does not need lateral flow. The new sintering process does not use liquid phase. The performance achieved by the processes is outstanding mechanical or physical properties that has potential to substitute cast iron, steel, titanium Metal Matrix Composite (MMC) or Ingot Metallurgy (IM) aluminum alloys. Cooperation with customers, powder suppliers and research associations contributed to the advancement of PM aluminum alloys in Japan.

  • 분말야금법으로 제조된 Cu-7.5Ni-5Sn 합금의 용체화 및 시효 열처리 조건에 따른 기계적 특성의 변화를 관찰하였다. As-received 상태의 Cu-7.5Ni-5Sn 합금을 시효한 경우에는 시효 20분 후에 ${\gamma}$\\` 상의 석출에 의한 강도 증가를 나타내는데 반해, 재용체화 처리된 시편에서는 시효 수십초부터 스피노달 분해에 의한 급격한 강도의 증가를 나타내고 있다. 그러나 전체적인 인장강도는 재용체화 처리를 행한 경우에 비해 as-received 상태에서 등온 시효한 경우가 더욱 우수한 것으로 나타났다. 이러한 현상은 재용체화 처리에 의한 결정립 성장에 기인한 것으로 사료된다. As-received 상태의 Cu-7.5Ni-5Sn 합금을 장시간 시효하게 되면 결정립계에 불연속 석출물이 생성되었으며, 이러한 불연속 석출물의 생성과 성장은 열처리 조건에 영향을 받는 것으로 관찰되었으며, 합금의 최종 기계적 성질에 크게 영향을 미치는 것으로 판단된다.

A comparative study on the bond strength of porcelain to the millingable Pd-Ag alloy

  • PURPOSE. The porcelain fused to gold has been widely used as a restoration both with the natural esthetics of the porcelain and durability and marginal fit of metal casting. However, recently, due to the continuous rise in the price of gold, an interest towards materials to replace gold alloy is getting higher. This study compared the bond strength of porcelain to millingable palladium-silver (Pd-Ag) alloy, with that of 3 conventionally used metal-ceramic alloys. MATERIALS AND METHODS. Four types of metal-ceramic alloys, castable nonprecious nickel-chrome alloy, castable precious metal alloys containing 83% and 32% of gold, and millingable Pd-Ag alloy were used to make metal specimens (n=40). And porcelain was applied on the center area of metal specimen. Three-point bending test was performed with universal testing machine. The bond strength data were analyzed with a one-way ANOVA and post hoc Scheffe's tests (${\alpha}=.05$). RESULTS. The 3-point bending test showed the strongest ($40.42{\pm}5.72$ MPa) metal-ceramic bond in the nonprecious Ni-Cr alloy, followed by millingable Pd-Ag alloy ($37.71{\pm}2.46$ MPa), precious metal alloy containing 83% of gold ($35.89{\pm}1.93$ MPa), and precious metal alloy containing 32% of gold ($34.59{\pm}2.63$ MPa). Nonprecious Ni-Cr alloy and precious metal alloy containing 32% of gold showed significant difference (P<.05). CONCLUSION. The type of metal-ceramic alloys affects the bond strength of porcelain. Every metal-ceramic alloy used in this study showed clinically applicable bond strength with porcelain (25 MPa).

Ti-X계 합금의 분말야금 공정 차이에 따른 미세조직변화 분석 (Analysis of Microstructure Evolution using Different Powder Metallurgy Process in Ti-X Alloy System)

  • In this study, Ti-X (X=Mn, Fe, Mo) powder alloys were designed and manufactured by both powder metallurgy (PM) and metal powder injection molding (MIM) process to improve strength and formability compared to CP-Ti powder materials. It was found that the lamellar microstructure consisted of α and β phases was formed in PM-processed alloys. However, MIM-processed alloys showed not the lamellar microstucture but the equiaxed α + β microstructure. It was also revealed that the contents of X component and feedstock were not affected to microstructure evolution. The reason why different microstructure was appeared between PM-processed and MIM-processed alloys is not clear yet, but supposed to be the effect of intersticial elements such as C, H and N derived from feedstock during debinding process of MIM.

티타늄 지대주와 비귀금속 합금사이의 갈바닉 부식에 의한 표면 거칠기 변화 평가 (Surface roughness changes caused by the galvanic corrosion between a titanium abutment and base metal alloy)

  • 연구 목적: 이 연구의 목적은 티타늄 지대주와 비귀금속 보철물이 접촉한 경우를 가정하여 이종 금속간 접촉에 의한 갈바닉 부식으로 인해 발생하는 표면 거칠기 변화를 비교, 평가하고자 하였다. 연구 재료 및 방법: 성분과 조성이 다른 3종의 Ni-Cr합금 (T3, Bella bond plus, Tilite)과 cp 티타늄 Grade 2를 이용하여 $13{\times}13{\times}1.5\;mm$의 크기로 시편을 각 군당 6개씩 제작하였다. 연마과정 후 절연 테이프로 직경 6 mm만을 노출시켜 potentiostat (Parastat 2273A)를 이용하여 동전위 분극 시험과 갈바닉 부식 시험을 시행하였으며, 표면 거칠기 측정기(Surftester SV-3000)를 이용하여 부식 전 후 거칠기를 평가하였다. 측정값을 paired t-test와 One-way ANOVA로 분석하였다. 결과: 티타늄과 접촉한 모든 Ni-Cr 시편의 표면 거칠기는 통계적으로 유의하게 증가하였다. 증가량은 베릴륨을 포함한 T3합금 ($0.016{\pm}.007\;{\mu}m$)이 가장 컸으며, 베릴륨을 포함하지 않은 Bella bond plus ($0.012{\pm}.003\;{\mu}m$), 티타늄을 첨가한 Tilite ($0.012{\pm}.002\;{\mu}m$)는 큰 차이를 보이지 않았다. 금속 종류에 따른 거칠기 증가는 유의한 차이를 보이지 않았다. 결론: 티타늄과 접촉한 비귀금속 합금은 갈바닉 부식에 의해 표면 거칠기가 증가하였다.

Goldish Yellow Color인 수종(數種)의 치과용(齒科用) 비귀금속합금(非貴金屬合金) 경도(硬度), 강도(强度) 및 미세조직(微細組織)의 비교(比較)에 관(關)한 연구(硏究) (A Study on the Comparison of hardness, Strength and Microstructure of dental Non-precious Metal Alloys Colored Goldish Yeller)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the comparison of physical properties of nonprecious metal alloys colored goldish yellow. The experimental groups were copper based dental alloy and control group was Ni-Cr based dental alloy used crown and bridges frameworks. Hardness was tested by vickers hardness tester, tensile strength was tested by universal tension tester. After testing the tensile strength of castings, the microstrucure and the pattern of fracture were investigated by scanning electron microscope and metallurgical microscope. The results were as follows : Hardness of Ni based alloy was higher than Cu based alloys. Hardness number of A group was 200.41$\pm$16.10 Hv, B group was 194.33$\pm$1.69 Hv, C group was 139.29$\pm$2.19 Hv and D group was 293.81$\pm$27.17 Hv, respectively. Tensile strength of D group was 56.42$\pm$6.17 $kg/m^2$, A group was 50.39$\pm$5.68 $kg/m^2$, C group was 45.13$\pm$4.53 $kg/m^2$, B group was 45.25$\pm$9.25 $kg/m^2$, in order, and D group was maximum tensile strength. The fractured surfaces of tensile specimens in the all groups showed the tendency to form large voids in the center of specimens. Thus the ductile fracture was changed into the brittle fracture with the fine grain size.
