짧은 길이의 거친 표면 임프란트에 대한 후향적 연구 (RETROSPECTIVE STUDY OF SHORT ROUGH SURFACE IMPLANTS)

  • Background: Reduced bone height is one of the major problems faced in restoring tooth loss with implants. By the use of short implants, it is possible to reduce complicated and invasive treatment such as bone graft, allowing more simple surgery. But short implants are generally considered to have lower success rates than that of standard implants. Purpose: To assess the results of short Straumann implants by a retrospective study of short Straumann implants with TPS(titanium plasma-sprayed) and SLA(sandblasted, large grit, acid etched) surfaces. Materials and methods: 173 implants in 106 patients who received short Straumann implant surgery(${\le}8\;mm$) in the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery, Kyunghee Dental Hospital, from February 1996 to October 2006 were selected and studied. All of the implants were followed up after prosthetic rehabilitation. The average follow-up period was 34 months with 119 months as the longest follow up period. The average follow-up period after prosthetic rehabilitation was 31 months. 64 females(60.4%) and 42 males(39.6%) participated in the research with the age range of 19 to 85(mean age 47). 20 patients(18.9%) were under 40, 85 patients(80.2%) were over 40 and under 70, and only one patient(0.9%) was over 70 years old. Results: 27 implants(15.6%) had TPS surface while 146 implants(84.4%) had SLA surface. 9 implants(5.2%) were 3.3, 108 implans(62.4%) were 4.1mm and 56 implants(32.4%) were 4.8mm in diameter. 167 implants(96.5%) were 8mm and 6 implants(3.5%) were 6mm in length. There were 24 implants(13.9%) on the maxillas and 149 implants(68.8%) on the mandibles. 119 implants(68.8%) were rehabilitated with FPD(fixed partial denture), 47 implants(27.2%) with single crowns and 4 implants(2.3%) with overdentures. Among the fixed partial dentures, 30 of them were splinted with short implants only. After over an year of follow-up period, 139 implants(96.5%) out of 144 implants showed marginal bone loss of less than 1mm. 3 out of 173 implants failed showing 98.27% survival rate. Conclusions: The use of short Straumann implants(${\le}8mm$) can be a simple and reliable treatment method in minimal residual bone height.

UV 처리에 의한 T-OLED용 산화전극에 적합한 Ag 박막연구: Nano-Mechanics 특성 분석을 중심으로 (The Study of Ag Thin Film of Suitable Anode for T-OLED: Focused on Nanotribology Methode)

  • Ag (silver)의 일함수는 T-OLED (Top Emission Organic Light Emitting Diode)의 전극소자로 사용하기에는 다소 낮다는 단점이 있다(~4.3 eV). 이러한 단점을 해결하기 위한 대안으로 Ag 박막의 표면을 플라즈마, UV, 열처리를 통하여 일함수를 높이는 연구가 진행되어 왔다(~5.0 eV). 하지만 현재의 대부분 연구는 후 처리된 박막의 일함수에 초점을 맞춰 연구가 진행되어, 박막의 mechanical property에 대한 연구는 매우 부족하며 이는 T-OLED의 효율과 수명 등의 연구에 매우 중요하다. 본 논문에서는 Ag와 $AgO_x$ 박막의 mechanical property에 초점을 맞춰 분석을 실시하였다. Ag는 유리기판 위에 rf-magnetron sputter를 이용하여 100 W의 power에서 150 nm 두께로 증착되었다. 증착된 박막은 UV 램프를 이용하여 다양한 시간동안 UV 처리되었다(0~9분). 본 논문에서는 처리된 박막의 면저항을 측정하고 nano indenter, Scanning Probe Microscopy의 Atomic Force Microscopy mode를 이용하여 mechanical property를 분석하였다. 실험 결과 UV 처리 시간이 3분을 넘어가는 시편과 3분 이내의 시편은 면저항값 및 경도 값에 큰 차이가 있었다. 이러한 결과는 Ag 박막의 후처리에 따른 Ag 물질의 산화 및 결합상태에 따라 박막 내에 존재하는 stress의 영향으로 예상되어진다.

레이저 광원 형상이 레이저 충격 피닝 잔류응력에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Laser Source Geometry on Laser Shock Peening Residual Stress)

  • 레이저 충격 피닝 처리 시 레이저 광원으로부터 금속표면에 조사되는 레이저 빔 형상은 다양하다. 레이저 형상은 표면에서 발생하는 압력파의 특성을 결정하기 때문에 금속 표면과 깊이 방향에 대한 잔류응력 분포에 영향을 미칠 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 레이저 충격 피닝 처리시 레이저 광원 형상이 인코넬 alloy 600 합금의 잔류응력에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 레이저 광원 형상은 원형, 사각형, 타원형 형상이 고려되었으며, 표면과 깊이 방향에 대한 압축잔류응력 특성을 비교하였다. 표면에서 생성되는 압축잔류응력은 원형 레이저 형상이 최대이지만 중심부에서 인장응력이 발생하고, 깊이 방향에서는 타원형 레이저 형상이 최대 압축잔류응력을 생성한다. 소성변형 발생 깊이는 사각형에 비해 원형과 타원형이 양호하다.

플라즈마 처리 및 Overlayer 형성을 통한 AgNW전극의 내열성 및 환경안정성 향상 연구 (Improvement of AgNW of Thermal and Environmental Stability Using Plasma Treatment and Overlayer on AgNW)

  • 투명전극인 Indium Tin Oxide (ITO)는 높은 투과도와 낮은 면저항을 가지지만 brittle한 성질로 유연성이 떨어져 플렉서블한 디바이스에 적용하기에는 어려움이 있다. 이를 해결하기 위해서 ITO를 대체할 수 있는 CNT, Graphene, AgNW, 전도성 고분자 투명전극이 연구되어지고 있다. 투명전극 중에서도 AgNW는 용액공정으로 제조 단가가 비교적 저렴하며, 높은 투과도와 전기전도 특성을 가지는 투명전극으로 주목받고 있는 차세대 투명전극이다. AgNW는 나노와이어가 네트워크를 형성하고 있어 높은 전도성과 광 투과도를 가지지만 내열성이 좋지 않아 $200^{\circ}C$ 이상의 온도에서 손상된다. 또한 흡습성의 고분자 물질로 둘러싸여 있기 때문에 내환경성이 좋지 않다는 단점이 있다. 이를 해결하기 위해 본 연구에서는 AgNW전극에 플라즈마 처리를 통해서 $250^{\circ}C$ 까지 내열성을 향상시킬 수 있었으며 추가적으로 Overlayer를 형성하여 $300^{\circ}C$까지 열적 안전성을 확보하여 내열성을 향상시켰다. 습도 85%, 온도 $85^{\circ}C$에서 36일간 환경안정성테스트 결과, 기존 AgNW 전극은 저항이 164% 증가한 것에 비해 플라즈마 처리후 Overlayer를 형성한 AgNW는 49% 저항증가로 저항증가율이 3배 이상 감소하여 환경안정성이 향상된 것을 확인하였다. 이는 흡습성 고분자 물질이 플라즈마 처리에 의해 제거되고 Overlayer가 보호막 역할을 하여 산소와 반응하지 않았기 때문으로 판단된다. 플라즈마 처리와 Overlayer를 형성한 AgNW 전극을 적용하여 투명히터를 제작한 결과 유연 기판상 투명히터로 활용이 가능함을 확인하였고 내열성이 향상되어 높은 전압에서도 안정적인 구동을 보였다. 이를 투명히터 뿐만 아니라 다양한 디바이스에 적용한다면 보다 높은 효율을 기대할 수 있을 것이라 예상된다.

이온빔 스퍼터링법에 의한 다층막의 표면특성변화 (The surface propery change of multi-layer thin film on ceramic substrate by ion beam sputtering)

  • The LTCC (Low Temperature Co-fired Ceramic) technology meets the requirements for high quality microelectronic devices and microsystems application due to a very good electrical and mechanical properties, high reliability and stability as well as possibility of making integrated three dimensional microstructures. The wet process, which has been applied to the etching of the metallic thin film on the ceramic substrate, has multi process steps such as lithography and development and uses very toxic chemicals arising the environmental problems. The other side, Plasma technology like ion beam sputtering is clean process including surface cleaning and treatment, sputtering and etching of semiconductor devices, and environmental cleanup. In this study, metallic multilayer pattern was fabricated by the ion beam etching of Ti/Pd/Cu without the lithography. In the experiment, Alumina and LTCC were used as the substrate and Ti/Pd/Cu metallic multilayer was deposited by the DC-magnetron sputtering system. After the formation of Cu/Ni/Au multilayer pattern made by the photolithography and electroplating process, the Ti/Pd/Cu multilayer was dry-etched by using the low energy-high current ion-beam etching process. Because the electroplated Au layer was the masking barrier of the etching of Ti/Pd/Cu multilayer, the additional lithography was not necessary for the etching process. Xenon ion beam which having the high sputtering yield was irradiated and was used with various ion energy and current. The metallic pattern after the etching was optically examined and analyzed. The rate and phenomenon of the etching on each metallic layer were investigated with the diverse process condition such as ion-beam acceleration energy, current density, and etching time.

CD7-Specific Single Chain Antibody Mediated Delivery of siRNA to T Cells Inhibits HIV Replication in a Humanized Mouse Model

  • A major hurdle to the development of RNA interference as therapy for HIV infection is the delivery of siRNA to T lymphocytes which are difficult cells to transfect even in vitro. We have employed a single chain antibody to the pan T cell surface antigen CD7 was conjugated to an oligo-9-arginine peptide (scFvCD7-9R) for T cell-specific siRNA delivery in NOD/SCIDIL2${\gamma}$-/- mice reconstituted with human peripheral blood lymphocytes (Hu-PBL). Using a novel delivery, we first show that scFvCD7-9R efficiently delivered CD4 siRNA into human T cells in vitro. In vivo administration to Hu-PBL mice resulted in reduced levels of surface CD4 expression on T cells. Mice infected with HIV-1 and treated on a weekly basis with scFvCD7-9R-siRNA complexes targeting a combination of viral genes and the host coreceptor molecule CCR5 successfully maintained CD4/CD3 T cell ratios up to 4 weeks after infection in contrast to control mice that displayed a marked reduction in CD4 T cell numbers. p24 antigen levels were undetectable in 3 of the 4 protected mice. scFvCD7-9R/antiviral siRNA treatment also helped maintain CD4 T cell numbers with reduced plasma viral loads in Hu-PBL mice reconstituted with PBMC from donors seropositive for HIV, indicating that this method can contain viral replication even in established HIV infections. Our results show that scFvCD7-9R could be further developed as a potential therapeutic for HIV-1 infection.

  • 본 연구에서는 다양한 방법들을 이용하여 태양전지 폐 모듈로부터 태양전지의 주요 구성요소인 실리콘과 강화유리를 회수하는 연구를 수행하였다. 강화유리는 유기용매를 사용하여 회수하였고, EVA수지는 열처리를 통하여 완전히 제거하였다. 실리콘은 계면 활성제를 첨가한 혼산용액을 이용하여 표면물질을 제거하고 회수하였다. 90%이상의 높은 실리콘 회수율을 얻었다. 본 연구에 의하여 얻어진 강화유리와 실리콘은 태양전지 모듈의 원료로 재활용되어 실리콘 공급부족 문제해결, 태양전지 제조원가 및 폐기물 처리비용 절감에 기여할 것으로 기대된다.

The Immunosuppressive Potential of Cholesterol Sulfate Through T Cell Microvilli Disruption

  • Cholesterol (CL) is required for various biomolecular production processes, including those of cell membrane components. Therefore, to meet these needs, CL is converted into various derivatives. Among these derivatives is cholesterol sulfate (CS), a naturally produced CL derivative by the sulfotransferase family 2B1 (SULT2B1), which is widely present in human plasma. CS is involved in cell membrane stabilization, blood clotting, keratinocyte differentiation, and TCR nanocluster deformation. This study shows that treatment of T cells with CS resulted in the decreased surface expression of some surface T-cell proteins and reduced IL-2 release. Furthermore, T cells treated with CS significantly reduced lipid raft contents and membrane CLs. Surprisingly, using the electron microscope, we also observed that CS led to the disruption of T-cell microvilli, releasing small microvilli particles containing TCRs and other microvillar proteins. However, in vivo, T cells with CS showed aberrant migration to high endothelial venules and limited infiltrating splenic T-cell zones compared with the untreated T cells. Additionally, we observed significant alleviation of atopic dermatitis in mice injected with CS in the animal model. Based on these results, we conclude that CS is an immunosuppressive natural lipid that impairs TCR signaling by disrupting microvillar function in T cells, suggesting its usefulness as a therapeutic agent for alleviating T-cell-mediated hypersensitivity and a potential target for treating autoimmune diseases.

초경합금에 나노결정질 다이아몬드 코팅 시 금속 중간층의 효과 (Effect of Metal Interlayers on Nanocrystalline Diamond Coating over WC-Co Substrate)

  • For the coating of diamond films on WC-Co tools, a buffer interlayer is needed because Co catalyzes diamond into graphite. W and Ti were chosen as candidate interlayer materials to prevent the diffusion of Co during diamond deposition. W or Ti interlayer of $1{\mu}m$ thickness was deposited on WC-Co substrate under Ar in a DC magnetron sputter. After seeding treatment of the interlayer-deposited specimens in an ultrasonic bath containing nanometer diamond powders, $2{\mu}m$ thick nanocrystalline diamond (NCD) films were deposited at $600^{\circ}C$ over the metal layers in a 2.45 GHz microwave plasma CVD system. The cross-sectional morphology of films was observed by FESEM. X-ray diffraction and visual Raman spectroscopy were used to confirm the NCD crystal structure. Micro hardness was measured by nano-indenter. The coefficient of friction (COF) was measured by tribology test using ball on disk method. After tribology test, wear tracks were examined by optical microscope and alpha step profiler. Rockwell C indentation test was performed to characterize the adhesion between films and substrate. Ti and W were found good interlayer materials to act as Co diffusion barriers and diamond nucleation layers. The COFs on NCD films with W or Ti interlayer were measured as less than 0.1 whereas that on bare WC-Co was 0.6~1.0. However, W interlayer exhibited better results than Ti in terms of the adhesion to WC-Co substrate and to NCD film. This result is believed to be due to smaller difference in the coefficients of thermal expansion of the related films in the case of W interlayer than Ti one. By varying the thickness of W interlayer as 1, 2, and $4{\mu}m$ with a fixed $2{\mu}m$ thick NCD film, no difference in COF and wear behavior but a significant change in adhesion was observed. It was shown that the thicker the interlayer, the stronger the adhesion. It is suggested that thicker W interlayer is more effective in relieving the residual stress of NCD film during cooling after deposition and results in stronger adhesion.

Cyclosporin A에 의한 치은 과증식의 형태학적 특성 (Morphological features of Cyclosprin A-induced Gingial Hyperplasia)

  • Cyclosporin A(CsA) is now widely used to treat organ transplant recipients. But CsA has various short-and long-term side effects. Especially, gingival hyperplasia is not easy to resolve since its nature is still unknown. This study discusses the pathogenesis of CsA-induced gingival hyperplasia on the basis of data obtained from light and electron microscopic studies of biopsis from patients on CsA treatment after kidney transplantation. Light microscopically, the multilayered squamous epithelium showed an irregular surface of parakeratosis and deep invaginations in the subepithelial tissue. At lamina propria, we observed bundles of irregularly arranged collagen fiber, some fibroblasts, numerous capillary vessels and a large diffuse infiltration of plasma cells. Ultrastructurally, many fibroblasts, collagen fibers, collagen fibrils were present in lamina propria. On the basis of the data collected, we propose that the morphological features of the dimensional increase in gingival tissue associated with CsA treatment in kidney transplant patients may be considered proliferative fibroblasts, collagen fibers, collagen fibrils in lamina propria.
