Optical properties of InAs quantum dots with different size (InAs 양자점의 크기에 따른 분광학적 특성)

  • We present Photoluminescence (PL) and Atomic Force Microscopy (AFM) image on InAs quantum dots (QDs) having different size which grown by Molecualr Beam Epitaxy (MBE). For different size QDs, analysis of the AFM profiles show that the density of QDs was the maximum value $(1.1\times10^{11}\textrm{/cm}^2)$ at 2.0 ML. In the spectra of QDs, it is found that the peak energy decreases with increasing dot size due to the effect of quantum confinement. Temperature dependence of PL intensities show that the PL is quenching and Red shift as the temperature increase. The FWHM range of 20K~180K is narrowing with increasing temperature. When temperature is over 180K, the line-width starts to in creases with increasing temperature. At last, temperature dependence of the integrated intensities were fit using the Arrehenius-type function for the activation energy. Fit value of the activation energy was increased with increasing QDs-size.

Variation of Photoluminescence in Zirconia Gel by Pyrolysis (지르코니아 겔에서 열처리에 따른 광발광의 변화)

  • In this study, we prepared zirconia gel by the sol-gel method and investigated its photoluminescence properties by varying pyrolysis temperature. The addition of acetic acid into a Zr-alkoxide solution resulted in forming the bidentate ligands with Zr ions and producing a stable gel. At the pyrolysis temperature of $350^{\circ}C$, the zirconia nanocrystals with tetragonal structure gradually appeared in the gel. The PL intensity of the zirconia gel increased with increasing the pyrolysis temperature up to $350^{\circ}C$, but decreased above the temperature. Concurrently, its PL peak wavelength continuously shifted from ${\sim}440\;nm$ to ${\sim}550\;nm$ with the temperature. The PL characteristics of the zirconia gels were closely associated with decomposition of residual organic groups, the formation of the zirconia nanocrystals, and the tetragonal to monoclinic phase transformation.

Effect of deposition temperature on the photoluminescence of Si nanocrystallites thin films (증착 온도에 따른 실리콘 나노결정 박막의 광학적 특성변화 연구)

  • The variation of photoluminescence(PL) properties of Si thin films was investigated by changing deposition temperatures, Si-rich silicon oxide films on p-type (100) Si substrate have been fabricated by pulsed laser deposition(PLD) technique using a Nd:YAG laser. During deposition, the substrates were kept at the temperature range of room temperature(RT) to $400^{\circ}C$. After deposition, samples were annealed at $800^{\circ}C$ in nitrogen ambient, Strong Blue PL has been observed on RT-deposited Si nanocrystallites. When the deposition temperature was increased over $100^{\circ}C$, PL intensities abruptly decreased. The experimental results show the growing mechanism of Si nanocrystallites by PLD.

  • ZnO 박막을 Sol-gel용액을 이용한 스핀코팅 방법으로 석영기판 위에 성장하였고 Sol-gel 용액의 온도 변화에 따른 구조적, 광학적 특성을 분석하였다. ZnO 박막의 구조적, 광학적 특성을 조사하기 위해 field-emission scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), photoluminescence (PL), 그리고 ultraviolet-visible (UV) spectroscopy을 사용하였다. PL 분석에서 ZnO 박막은 orange 계열의 발광을 하였으며, PL spectra는 3.3 eV 부근의 near-band edge emission (NBE) 피크와 2.0 eV 부근의 deep-level emission (DLE) 피크로 이루어져있다. 모든 sol-gel 용액 온도에서, DLE 피크가 NBE 피크보다 더 우세하고 이 DLE 피크는 sol-gel 용액의 온도가 증가함에 따라 점점 증가하다가 감소하는 것을 알 수 있다. 이런 DLE 피크는 산소 공공, 아연 공공, 침입형 산소, 침입형 아연 등과 같은 결함에 의한 것이며, ZnO 박막은 sol-gel 용액의 온도에 따라 결함의 특성이 변화하였다.

  • This paper introduces experimental investigates of an accident pattern for the distributing cross linking-polyethylene(XLPE) cable terminations considering product liability(PL) law environment. The influence of defects such as thickness and length decrease of XLPE, an impurity on XLPE and the gap between stress-con of housing and semi-conductor on insulating properties of the termination have been studied. The thickness and length decrease of XLPE decrease ac breakdown strengths. Breakdown traces of XLPE that is damaged by knife displayed ellipse shape. The gap of between stress-con and semiconductor deteriorates dielectric strength of XLPE seriously.

Synthesis of Hole Transport Materials for Organic Light Emitting Device (유기발광디바이스용 정공수송재료의 합성)

  • This study was based on organic electroluminescence display. Especially, TPD and $\alpha-NPD$ for the hole transport materials were synthesized by Ullmann reaction. This reaction was conducted between 3­methylphenylamine, 1-naphthylamine and 4,4'-diiodobiphenyl in toluene containing CuCl catalyst and KOH base. The structural property of reaction products were analyzed by FT-IR, $^1H-NMR$ spectroscopy, and thermal stability, reactivity and PL property were analyzed by melting point, yield and emission spectrum, respectively. The photoluminescence spectra of a pure TPD and $\alpha-NPD$ were observed at approximately 416nm and 438nm respectively. In this study, it was known that the melting point, yield, PL properties of TPD and $\alpha-NPD$ were changed by substituent group of amines.

Pholuminescence properties of ZnO disks grown using vapor phase transport (기상 이동법으로 성장한 ZnO disk의 photoluminescence 특성)

  • ZnO disk는 Ar 가스의 ON/OFF 사이클을 사용한 기상 이동법으로 성장하였다. 온도 의존성 photoluminescence (PL)은 PL 스펙트럼의 quenching 동작을 관장하는 메커니즘을 연구하기 위해 조사하였다. ZnO disk의 12 K PL 스펙트럼에서 3.364, 3.315, 3.244, 3.212, 3.170, 3.139, 3.100 eV의 피크를 관측되었고, 그것은 각각 excitons bound to neutral donors ($D^{\circ}X$), A-line, first-order longitudinal optical (1LO) phonon replica of A-line (A-1LO), donor-to acceptor pair (DAP), A-2LO, DAP-1LO, A-3LO 이다. $D^{\circ}X$와 A-line 피크는 Varshni 공식에 의해서 피팅을 하였고, 도너 이온화 에너지는 40 meV 이었다. Free excitons, $D^{\circ}X$, A-line의 lifetime은 이론적으로 계산하였고, 온도가 증가함에 따라 lifetime이 증가하였다.

Role of Crystallographic Tilt Angle of GaAs Substrate Surface on Elastic Characteristics and Crystal Quality of InGaP Epilayers (GaAs 기판표면의 Tilt각도가 InGaP 에피막의 탄성특성 및 결정질에 미치는 영향)

  • InGaP epilayers were grown on the flat, $2^{\circ}$off, $6^{\circ}$ off, and $10^{\circ}$off GaAs substrates by organo-metallic vapor phase epitaxy, and influences of crystallographic misorientation of the substrate on the structural and optical properties such as lattice mismatch, elastic strain, lattice curvature, misfit stress, and PL intensity /line-width were investigated in this study. Material characterizations were carried out by TXRD( tripple-axis x-ray diffractometer) and low temperature (11K) PL (photoluminescence). With increase of the substrate misorientation angle (S.M.A.), the relative incorporation of Ga atoms on the substrate surface was found to be enhanced. Also, with increase of the S. M. A., the x-ray line-width of the InGaP epilayer was reduced, indicating that the crystal quality of the epilayer could be improved tilth a misoriented substrate. It was also found that the elastic accommodation of the strain-free lattice misfit was more remarkable in a misoriented sample. PL intensity increased, and PL line-width and emission wavelength decreased with the increase of S. M. A. The results conclude that the elastic characteristics and the crystal quality of the InGaP epilayer could be remarkably enhanced when the misoriented substrates were employed.

Evaluation of Sodium Lactate and Potassium Lactate on the Quality Characteristics and Shelf-life of Low-fat Sausage during Refrigerated Storage (젖산나트륨과 젖산칼륨의 첨가가 냉동저장 중 저지방 소시지의 품질특성 및 저장성에 미치는 영향)

  • This study was performed to investigate physicochemical and textural characteristics, and antimicrobial effect for Listeria monocytogenes (LM) in low-fat functional sausages (LFFS) containing sodium lactate (SL) and potassium lactate (PL) during storage at 4℃ for 10 weeks. The LFFS treatments included CTL (Low-fat sausage control), TRT1 (SL 3.3%), TRT2 (SL 2.2% + PL 1.1%), TRT3 (SL 1.1% + PL 2.2%), TRT4 (PL 3.3%). Proximate composition for LFFS were 73.9∼75.2% moisture, 1∼2% fat and 15.5∼15.9% protein, and pH values ranged from 5.8 to 6.5. Expressible moisture (EM, %) and vacuum purge (VP, %) ranged from 22.9 to 33.0 and from 2.7 to 5.3, respectively. EM of CTL, TRT1 and TRT2 increased with increased storage time, however, no differences in VP were observed during storage time. Hunter color values (L, a, b) were not affected by the addition of SL and PL, and storage time (p>0.05). Most textural properties of LFFS were not affected by the addition of SL and PL, except for few cases, but those of CTL tended to increase with increased storage time. The addition of SL and PL into LFFS, alone or in combination, inhibited the microbial growth of inoculated LM during refrigerated storage, resulting in longer shelf-life than the control.

EDTA Surface Capped Water-Dispersible ZnSe and ZnS:Mn Nanocrystals

  • ZnSe and ZnS:Mn nanocrystals were synthesized via the thermal decomposition of their corresponding organometallic precursors in a hot coordinating solvent (TOP/TOPO) mixture. The organic surface capping agents were substituted with EDTA molecules to impart hydrophilic surface properties to the resulting nanocrystals. The optical properties of the water-dispersible nanocrystals were analyzed by UV-visible and room temperature solution photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy. The powders were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), and confocal laser scanning microscopy (CLSM). The solution PL spectra revealed emission peaks at 390 (ZnSe-EDTA) and 597 (ZnS:Mn-EDTA) nm with PL efficiencies of 4.0 (former) and 2.4% (latter), respectively. Two-photon spectra were obtained by fixing the excitation light source wavelengths at 616 nm (ZnSe-EDTA) and 560 nm (ZnS:Mn-EDTA). The emission peaks appeared at the same positions to that of the PL spectra but with lower peak intensity. In addition, the morphology and sizes of the nanocrystals were estimated from the corresponding HR-TEM images. The measured average particle sizes were 5.4 nm (ZnSe-EDTA) with a standard deviation of 1.2 nm, and 4.7 nm (ZnS:Mn-EDTA) with a standard deviation of 0.8 nm, respectively.
