Synthesis and Characterization of Red Organic Phosphor for Hybrid LED (Hybrid LED용 적색 유기형광체의 합성 및 특성 연구)

  • We report the studies on the red organic phosphor by using perylene bisimide derivatives. Even though perylene bisimide derivatives have excellent thermal stability and luminous efficiency, they have low solubility in organic solvents. In this research, modified perylene bisimide derivative, N,N'-Bis(4-bromo-2, 6-diisopropylphenyl)-1, 6, 7, 12-tetraphenoxyperylene-3, 4, 9, 10-tetracarboxyl bisimide (1C), has been prepared by the reaction of phenol with N,N'-Bis(4-bromo-2, 6-diisopropylphenyl)-1, 6, 7, 12-tetrachloroperylene-3, 4, 9, 10-tetracarboxyl bisimide (1B) in presence of DMF, at $70^{\circ}C$. The synthesized (1C) was characterized by using $^1H-NMR$, FT-IR, UV/V is spectroscopy, and TGA. The absorbtion and emission of (1C) was shown at 576 nm and 610 nm in UV/V is spectrum. In TGA thermogram, (1C) showed good thermal stability without significant weight loss to $220^{\circ}C$. And in the solubility analysis, (1C) with phenoxy group showed the good solubility in general organic solvents. The blended films of (1C) with PMMA (polymethyl methacrylate) at different weight % concentration such as 10, 5, 1 weight % have been prepared. The blended film was shown at 616 nm when monitored at 450 nm in PL emission spectra.

An Analytic Study On the Mutual Relation between Method(1) and (2) of ZIEGLER-NICHOLS Control Parameter Tuning (지글러-니콜스 제어파라미터 조정법(1),(2)의 상호 연관성에 대한 해석적 연구)

  • Parameter tuning methods by Ziegler-Nickels for control systems are generally classified into Z-N(1) and Z-N(2). The purpose of this paper is to describe what relations exist between methods of Z-N(1) and Z-N(2), or how Z-N(1) method can be originated from Z-N(2) method by analyzing one loop control system of P or PI controller and time delay process. The formulas of Z-N(1) consist of process parameters, L(time delay), $K_m$(gain) and $T_m$(time constant), but Z-N(2) method is based only on the ultimate gain $K_u$ and the ultimate period $T_u$ acquired normally by practical trial without any parameters of Z-N(1). In this paper, for the first step to seek mutual relations, the simple formulas of Z-N(2) are transformed into the formulas composed of the same parameters as Z-N(1) which is derived from the analysis of frequency characteristics. Then, the approximation of the actual ultimate frequency is proposed as important premise in the translation between Z-N(1) and (2). Such equalization and approximation brings a simple approximated formula which can explain how Z-N(1) is originated from the Z-N(2) in the form of formula. And a model system is adopted to compare the approximated formula to Z-N(1) and Z-N(2) methods, the results of which show the effectiveness of the proposals.

Trait Factors of Smartphone Application Influencing the Formation of a Brand Image : Focusing on Department Store Applications (브랜드 이미지에 영향을 미치는 어플리케이션 특성 요인에 관한 분석 : 백화점 어플리케이션을 중심으로)

  • This paper aimed at smartphone applications of department store brands in order to examine the traits of applications for the brand image. The study carried out survey research with 114 smartphone users who experienced the application of a department store, assuming that the design, contents, ease of use, and community characteristics of the application would affect satisfaction and the brand image. This paper performed a confirmatory factor analysis, correlation analysis, and the test of a model using PLS. Results showed that the design and contents of the application affected the improvement of satisfaction and of a brand image, whereas ease of use did not affect satisfaction and brand image. Also, community was influential on satisfaction, whereas it was not influential on the improvement of a brand image. Satisfaction with the application showed a strong impact on the improvement of a brand image; thus, it was found necessary for upcoming brand applications to enhance satisfaction for building a positive brand image.

Growth and characterization of periodically polarity-inverted ZnO structures grown on Cr-compound buffer layers

  • Periodically polarity inverted (PPI) ZnO structures on (0001) Al2O3 substrates are demonstrated by plasmas assisted molecular beam epitaxy. The patterning and re-growth methods are used to realize the PPI ZnO by employing the polarity controlling method. For the in-situ polarity controlling of ZnO films, Cr-compound buffer layers are used.[1, 2] The region with the CrN intermediate layer and the region with the Cr2O3 and Al2O3 substrate were used to grow the Zn- and O-polar ZnO films, respectively. The growth behaviors with anisotropic properties of PPI ZnO heterostructures are investigated. The periodical polarity inversion is evaluated by contrast images of piezo-response microscopy. Structural and optical interface properties of PPI ZnO are investigated by the transmission electron microcopy (TEM) and micro photoluminescence ($\mu$-PL). The inversion domain boundaries (IDBs) between the Zn and the O-polar ZnO regions were clearly observed by TEM. Moreover, the investigation of spatially resolved local photoluminescence characteristics of PPI ZnO revealed stronger excitonic emission at the interfacial region with the IDBs compared to the Zn-polar or the O-polar ZnO region. The possible mechanisms will be discussed with the consideration of the atomic configuration, carrier life time, and geometrical effects. The successful realization of PPI structures with nanometer scale period indicates the possibility for the application to the photonic band-gap structures or waveguide fabrication. The details of application and results will be discussed.

Development of the Growth and Wavelength Control Technique of In As Quantum Dots for 1.3 μm Optical Communication Devices (1.3 μm 광통신용 소자를 위한 InAs 양자점 성장 및 파장조절기술 개발)

  • We systematically investigated the effects of InAs coverage variation, two-step annealing and an asymmetric InGaAs quantum well (QW) on the structural and optical characteristics of InAs quantum dots (QDs) by using atomic force microscopy (AFM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and photoluminescence (PL) measurement. The transition of size distribution of InAs QDs from bimodal to multi-modal was noticeably observed with increasing InAs coverage. By means of two-step annealing, it is found that significant narrowing of the luminescence linewidth (from 132 to 31 meV) from the InAs QDs occurs together with about 150 meV blueshift, compared to as-grown InAs QDs. Finally, the InAs QDs emitting at longer wavelength of $1.3\;{\mu}m$ with narrow linewidth were grown by an asymmetric InGaAs QW. The excited-state transition for the InAs QDs with an asymmetric InGaAs QW was not noticeably observed due to the large energy-level spacing between the ground states and the first excited states. The InAs QDs with an asymmetric InGaAs QW will be promising for the device applications such as $1.3\;{\mu}m$ optical-fiber communication.

Fabrication of C2H2 Gas Sensors Based on Ag/ZnO-rGO Hybrid Nanostructures and Their Characteristics (Ag/ZnO-rGO 하이브리드 나노구조 기반 C2H2 가스센서의 제작과 그 특성)

  • In this work, pure hierarchical ZnO structure was prepared using a simple hydrothermal method, and Ag nanoparticles doped hierarchical ZnO structure was synthesized uniformly through photochemical route. The reduced graphene oxide (rGO) has been synthesized by typical Hummer's method and reduced by hydrazine. Prepared Ag/ZnO nanostructures are uniformly dispersed on the surface of rGO sheets using ultrasonication process. The synthesized samples were characterized by SEM, TEM, EDS, XRD and PL spectra. The average size of prepared ZnO microspheres was around $2{\sim}3{\mu}m$ and showed highly uniform. The average size of doped-Ag nanoparticles was 50 nm and decorated into ZnO/rGO network. The $C_2H_2$ gas sensing properties of as-prepared products were investigated using resistivity-type gas sensor. Ag/ZnO-rGO based sensors exhibited good performances for $C_2H_2$ gas in comparison with the Ag/ZnO. The $C_2H_2$ sensor based on Ag/ZnO-rGO had linear response property from 3~1000 ppm of $C_2H_2$ concentration at working temperature of $200^{\circ}C$. The response values with 100 ppm $C_2H_2$ at $200^{\circ}C$ were 22% and 78% for Ag/ZnO and Ag/ZnO-rGO, respectively. In additions, the sensor still shows high sensitivity and quick response/recovery to $C_2H_2$ under high relative humidity conditions. Moreover, the device shows excellent selectivity towards to $C_2H_2$ gas at optimal working temperature of $200^{\circ}C$.

Crystal Growth Sensor Development of II-VI Compound Semiconductor : CdS (II-VI족 화합물 반도체의 결정성장 및 센서 개발에 관한 연구)

  • This study deals with the crystal growth and the optical characteristics of CdS thin films activatedby silver. CdS:Ag thin films were deposited by using an electron beam evaporation(EBE) technique in vacuumof 1.5X 10-'torr, voltage of 4 kV, current of 2.5 mA and substrate temperature of 250$^{\circ}$C CdS:Ag photoconductivefilms prepared by EBE method show high photoconductivity after annealing at about 550"c for 0.5 h in air andAr gas.The grain size of CdS:Ag thin films annealed in Ar atmosphere (1 atm) was grown over 1 ym and the thicknessof the films is 4-5 pm. The analysis of X-ray diffraction patterns shows that the crystal structures are hexagonal.The diffraction line by (00.2) plane can only be observed, indicating that c-axis of hexagonal grows preferentiallyperpendicular to the substrate. The profiles of photoluminescence spectra of CdS:Ag films show Gaussian typecurves at room temperature, the maximum peak spectral sensitivity of CdS:Ag is located at the wavelength of520 nm.We annealed CdS:Ag thin films in air and Ar vapor in order to make the CdS photoconductors having theintensive photocurrent, the broad distribution of the photocurrent spectrum and the large value of the ratioof the photocurrent (pc) to the dark current(dc). We found that CdS:Ag thin films annealed in air atmospherewas the best one.air atmosphere was the best one.

Luminescence Characteristics of Blue and Yellow Phosphor for Near-Ultraviolet (자외선 여기용 청색 및 황색 형광체의 발광특성)

  • We have synthesized a $Eu^{2+}-activated\;Sr_3MgSi_2O_8$ blue phosphor and $(Sr,Ba)_2SiO_4$ yellow phosphor and prepared white LEDs by combining these phosphors with a InGaN UV LED chip. Three distinct emission bands from the InGaN-based LED and the two phosphors are clearly observed at 405 nm, 460 nm and at around 560 nm, respectively. The 405 nm emission band is due to a radiative recombination from a InGaN active layer. This blue emission was used as an optical transition of the $Sr_3MgSi_2O_8:Eu$ blue phosphor and $(Sr,Ba)_2SiO_4:Eu$ yellow phosphor. The 460 nm and 560 nm emission band is ascribed to a radiative recombination of $Eu^{2+}$ impurity ions in the $Sr_3MgSi_2O_8:Eu$ and $(Sr,Ba)_2SiO_4$ host matrix. As a consequence of a preparation of UV White LED lamp using the $Sr_3MgSi_2O_8:Eu$ blue phosphor and $(Sr,Ba)_2SiO_4:Eu$ yellow phosphor, the highest luminescence efficiency was obtained at the ration of epoxy/two phosphor (1/0.2361). At this time, the CIE chromaticity was CIE x = 0.3140, CIE y = 0.3201 and CCT (6500 K).

A Study on the Operation and Function Improvement for apparel warehouse Using Fuzzy-AHP (Fuzzy-AHP를 활용한 의류 물류창고 운영개선에 관한 연구)

  • Given the expansion of globalization and international trade, the number of apparel consumers is growing every year, making it difficult to estimate the amount of handling needed from the logistics industry. To determine which management factors are important and which ones require improvement, fuzzy AHP was used. Using this method, the factors were ranked in the final analysis as follows: The first and most important factor was training employees (0.17), while the second was fire hazard management (0.169); the third-highest factor was inbound and outbound goods (0.142), and the fourth was the warehouse management system. Barcode management was ranked fifth. By these results, we were able to analyze the processes of clothing warehouses, noting that although the factors appear independent, they are actually connected while proceeding with full management control. Moreover, because of the special characteristics of garments, employee management is crucial. Due to the vulnerability of these goods to fire hazards, this factor must be well managed.

Physicochemical Characterization of Chlorosome Isolated from Chlorobium limicola f. thiosulfatophilum NCIB 8327 (Chlorobium limicola f. thiosulfatophilum NCIB 8327에서 분리한 Chlorosomes의 물리화학적 특성)

  • Physicochemical characteristics of chlorosomes isolated from Chlorobium lirnicoh f.thiosulfirtc~pl~ilut~i NClB 8327 were analyzed by means of UV-Visible spectrophotometer and CD-spectrophotometer. The density of the isolated chlorosomes were estimated to be 1.05 (g/$cm^{3}$) by Percoll self gradient ultracentrifugation. Chlorosome consist of bacteriochlorophyll d and some chlorobactene, and little amounl of bacteriochlorophyll a. Chlorosome is stable from 0 to $80^{\circ}C$and alkaline solution (above pH 7.0). but unstable in illuminated condition. From these results. it is suggested that some proteins or lipids may be essential for the stabilization of chlorosomes in vivo.
