Studies on the Structure of Forest Community at Sangwonsa, Pirobong, Horyongbong area in Odaesan National Park (오대산 국립공원 상원사, 비로봉, 호령봉 지역의 삼림군집구조에 관한 연구)

  • To investigate the structure and the conservation strategy of natural forest at Sangwonsa, Pirobong, Horyongbong area in Odaesan, 23 plots(20*20m) were set up with random sampling method. Three groups were classified by cluster analysis; Quercus mongolica-Abies holophylla community, Acer mandshuricum- Abies nephrolepis community, and A. holophylla-Ulmus laciniata community. High positive correlations were proved betwween Tilia amurensis and Acer mono; Sorbus commixta and Euonymus macropterus, Betula ermanii, and Viburnum sargentii; E. macropterus and V. sargentii; B. ermanii and V. sargentii; A. mephrolepis and Syringa velutina var. kamibayashii; S. velutina var. kamibayashii and Salix hulteni; Pinus densiflora and A. holophylla. High negative correlations were proved between Q. mongolica and Juglans mandhuricum; Sasa vorealis and E. macropterus; Acer mono and Philadelphus schenckii; A. holophylla and E. macropterus, B. ermanii, S. velutina var. kamibayashii, and Salix hulteni. Species diversity(H') of investigated area was 1.2973~1.46331.

Visting Pattern in Odaesan National Park (오대산 국립공원의 이용객 행태)

  • The annual increasing rate of visitors was 9.5% in Odaesan National Park from 1989 to 1995. Ninety three percent of total visitor of Odaesan National Park has visited Woljongsa and Sogumgang area in which a motorcar access is convenient. Climbing rate of Pirobong(peak) were less seven percent of total cisitors at Woljongsa in summer and less twelve point six percent in autumn. Visiting pattern showed difference by area, seasons and a day of the week. Using rate of motorcars was higher in summer than in autumn

Terrain Analysis of Odaesan National Park using Digital Elevation Model (수치고도모델을 이용한 오대산 국립공원지역의 지형분석)

  • Digital elevation model for analysing terrain of Odaesan National Park was constructed by 1:50.000 topographical map. The fifty five percent of total area is located in higher than 900m in elevation, while ninty percent of the conservation area in Pirobong is above 1,100m. In other word, seventy percent of Odaesan National Park area has the slope of more than 20$^{\circ}$and is steep mountain. The aspect of the mountain mainly turned out to be eastward and westward.

Use Impacts on Environmental Deteriorations on and around Trails in Odaesan National Park (오대산 국립공원 이용에 따른 등산로 및 주변환경훼손)

  • 5 major trails of Odaesan National Park were selected to investigate the use impacts on environmental deterioration of trail accreding to the different amunt of use. The entire width, bare width, maximum depth and slope of trail as the trail comdition surveyed at the total of 120 points were significantly greater on the more heavily-used trail. Major deterioration types of trail were root-exposure, rock-exposure, deepening and divergence in order of frquency and trail conditions of deteriorated points were significantly different from those of non-deteriorated points. The damaged area more severe than Class 4 on trail reached about 379m$^{2}$/km in total, and especcially about 1,196m$^{2}$/km in the section between Chodmyolbogung and Pirobong of Sangwonsa trail. The dominant trees of trail edge vegetation could be Quercus mongolica in upper layer, but in lower layer Rhododecdron schilipenbachii for slope and Actinidia arguta for ridge. Coverage and number of individuals of lower vegetation in trail edge were the lowest on the Sangwonsa trail of the largest use amount, and each trail was dissimilar in species composition of lower layer of edge vegetation.
