  • We propose a new method for detecting Backemf of a motor and estimating parameters of a motor using Recursive Least Square Estimator. The motor speed is obtained from the estimated parameters. We experiment the PID speed controller with the estimated speed.

  • This paper proposes a new identification method that utilizes fuzzy inference in parameter identification. The prosed system has an additional control loop where a real plant has replaced by a plant model. Fuzzy rules describe the relationship between comparison results of the features and magnitude of modification in the model parameter values. In this paper, the tuning method which determines parameters of PID controller automatically is described through applying this algorithm to DC servo motor. And we intend to investigate effectiveness of the method by experiments. This method is effective in auto-tuning because the response of the closed loop has verified. The simulated and the experimental results of the dc servo motor are shown to confirm the viability of this method.

  • In this paper, active shape control of composite structure actuated by shape memory alloy (SMA) wires is presented. Hybrid composite structure was established by attaching SMA actuators on the surfaces of graphite/epoxy composite beam using bolt-joint connectors. SMA actuators were activated by phase transformation, which induced by temperature rising over austenite finish temperatures. In this paper, electrical resistive heating was applied to the hybrid composite structures to activate the SMA actuators. For faster and more accurate shape or deflection control of the hybrid composite structure, PID feedback controller was designed from numerical simulations and experimentally applied to the SMA actuators.

  • The variable frequency and variable voltage AC source made by a conventional inverter which is composed of power semi-conductors includes much noises in sine wave due to high frequency switching of DC source. In this paper the 3rd low pass LC filter for a variable speed 3 phase induction motor driven by a full bridge inverter is introduced to solve the EMI problem by serious noise current. The utility of a modified 3rd order Butterworth LC filter is confirmed through FFT analysis of sine waves and noiseless ACsource can be obtained by the proposed LC filter. The speed of a 3 phase induction motor driven by a full bridge inverter with a LC filter is satisfactorily controlled by a digital PID controller under the condition of stepwise load and setpoint changes.

  • Recently, High accuracy and precision are required in various industrial field especially, semiconductor manufacturing apparatus, Ultra precision positioning apparatus, Information field and so on. Positioning technology is a very important one among them. As such technology has been rapidly developed, this field needs the positioning accuracy as high as submicron. It is expected that the accuracy of 10nm and 1nm is required in precision work and ultra precision work field, respectively by the beginning of 2000s. High speed and low vibration are also needed. This work deals with the design method and control system of Ultra precision positioning apparatus. Control performance and stability analysis were performed in advance by modeling and designing the controller with Simulink.

  • 현재의 발전소 보일러 제어방식은 프로세스 성격에 따라 제어루프의 상태변수들을 근간으로 세부적인 독립된 제어루프별로 제어를 시행하는 개별 루프를 채택하고 있다. 발전소에서 사용하는 PID제어 방식은 각 부시스템들의 상태변수, 출력변수가 다른 부시스템의 선행신호가 되거나 기준신호가 되어 피드백제오, 피드포워드 제어와 캐스케이드 제어 등의 신호로 작용한다. 선행신호와 상태 궤환 신호는 다른 부시스템의 상태변수를 측정함에 의하여 결정되며, 상호연결 함수는 경험에 의한 함수 설정에 의해 결정된다. 본 논문에서는 먼저 화력발전소 보일러 제어시스템을 플랜트 변수들 사이의 인과관계를 표현하는 신호흐름도의 보일러 모델과 실제 발전소에 적용되고 있는 드럼 수위 제어기에 대해 기술한다. 그리고 현장에서 취득한 운전데이터를 이용한 보일러 드럼수위 제어계통의 모델링에 관한 내용에 대해 기술하고, 마지막으로 컴퓨터 시뮬레이션에 의한 제어루프의 모의실험 결과를 통해 제어기의 설계와 제어루프의 효용성을 보이고자 한다.

  • In this paper, the mathematical model of a cut with an inverted flexible beam and a concentrated tip mass was derived. The characteristic equation for calculating the natural frequencies of the cart-beam-mass system was obtained and the motion of the system was analyzed through unconstrained modal analysis. A good positioning response of the cart without excessive vibrational motion of the tip mass could be obtained through numerical simulation using PID controller with the feedback of both the position of the cart and the deflection of the beam.

  • The research presented covers the design and control method of unmanned ground vehicle (UGV). An electric vehicle is used and is driven by DC motor. The power system on the UGV has been adjusted and actuators have been installed for steering and brake automation. A toggle switch is implemented to easily switch between manual and autonomous states. The UGV state is monitored by a velocity sensor, as well as steering and brake position sensors. An emergency stop device was designed and installed to quickly and safely stop the UGV. Different control methods, including the PID controller, were studied for improved steering responsiveness, and results were confirmed through experimentation. Satisfactory performance was achieved and several possible areas of future research have arisen.

  • This paper presents the modelling of an MR damper system through extensive experimental studies. The hysteresis of the MR damper is modelled by using the improved Bouc-wen model. A test bed for experimental studies of measuring parameters of the MR damper is designed and implemented. Based on the experimental data, the Bouc-Wen Model is modified for the MR damper system. To check the modelling property, a vehicle suspension system is controlled using a PID controller for the verification of the MR damper model.

  • This paper deals with new type of active magnetic bearing (AMB) for the linear motors. We adopted optical sensing mechanism for the gap sensing. Using the laser and the PSD (Position Sensitive Device), the absolute rotor position is obtained independent of the profile of the guide rail. With this measurement, the rotor can be controller to follow the straight beam of the laser. Another advantage of optical sensing mechanism might be the elimination of the possible interference between the proximity sensor and the electro-magnet. By adopting the push-full actuating mechanism, the bearing stiffness is increased near the equilibrium position. For the simplicity, distributed control system is constructed. Eight independent PID control algorithm is used with the full order observer. Several simulation md test results are presented.
