When various establishment location and surrounding disturbance were approved based on mathematical modelling of crane, controller designed to become effective control location error and vibration angle of two control variables that simultaneously can predictive control. Neural network predictive PID controller produced parameter of PID controller using neural network self-tuner. Neural network self-tuner's input used crane's output and neural network predictive output. Neural network self-tuner using error back propagation algorithm. We analyzed control performance comparison through computer simulation when applied disturbance about sway of location and angle in transfer of crane. The results show that the proposed neural network predictive PID controller has better performances than general PID controller, neural network PID controller.

  • An adaptive PID sliding mode controller is proposed for the position control of electro-hydrostatic actuator(EHA) systems with system uncertainties and saturation in the motor. An EHA prototype is developed and system modeling and parameter identification are executed. Then, adaptive PID sliding mode controller and optimal anti-windup PID controller are designed and the performance and robustness of the two control systems are compared by experiment. It was found that the adaptive PID sliding mode control system has better performance and is more robust to system uncertainties than the optimal anti-windup PID control system.

  • This paper presents a fuzzy modified PID controller that uses linear fuzzy inference method. In this structure, the proportional and derivative gains vary with the output of the system under control. 2-input PD type fuzzy controller is designed to obtain the varying gains. The proposed fuzzy PID structure maintains the same performance as the same performance as the general-purpose linear PID controller, and enhances the tracking performance over a wide range of input. Numerical simulations and experimental results show the effectiveness of the fuzzy PID controller in comparison with the conventional PID controller.

  • The conventional output feedback robust control designs are very useful for systems under parameter perturbation and uncertain disturbance. However these designs are very complicated and not easily implemented for industrial applications. So, this paper proposes a robust PID controller design method via genetic searching algorithm.

  • In this paper, we propose a new real-time adaptive PID temperature control technique. This is a technique that prevents overshoot by introducing a model that represents the control object. To prevent excessive integration that causes overshoot, integral control adjusts the integral gain to track the heat loss of the model in real time. In the conventional PID control, the integration was dependent on proportional control and the gain was fixed to a constant. As a result, applying two gains that mismatch each other could cause excessive overshoot. However, the proposed adaptive control actively eliminates overshoot so that the integral control amount does not always exceed the heat loss. The cause of overshoot in PID control is integration. Basically, proportional control does not cause overshoot. Therefore, according to the proposed technique, adaptive PID control without the need for tuning experiments can be realized.

  • An ultra-compact binary power generation plant converts thermal energy into electric power using temperature difference between heat source and cooling source. In the actual power generation environment, the characteristic value of the plant changes due to any negative effects such as environmental condition or corrosion of related equipment. If the characteristic value of the plant changes, it may lead to unstable output of the turbine in a conventional PID control system with fixed PID parameters. A Neuro PID control system based on Neural Network adaptively to adjust the PID parameters according to the change in the characteristic value of the plant is proposed in this paper. Discrete-time transfer function models to represent the dynamic characteristics near the operating point of the investigated plant are deduced, and a design strategy of the proposed control system is described. The proposed Neuro PID control system is compared with the conventional PID control system, and its effectiveness is demonstrated through the simulation results.

  • PID control is widely used in industrial areas, but it is not easy to tune PID gains for an optimal control. The proposed learning method is to tune PID gains using the gradient approach. We use two estimation functions in this method : one is an error function for tuning of PID gains, and the other is a performance measuring function for a completion of learning. This paper shows that optimal PID controllers can be acquired when this learning method is applied to 10 systems with different natural frequencies and damping ratios.

  • In this paper, we present a GP-PID(Generalized Predictive PID) controller which has the same structure as a generalized predictive control with steady-state weighting. The proposed controller can perform better than the conventional PID controller because it includes intrinsic delay-time compensator. The PID tuning parameters and delay-time compensator are calculated by equating the two degree of freedom PID to a linear form of GPC. The proposed controller is combined with a supervisor for safe start and self-tuning. GP-PID controller has been tested for various numerical models and an experimental stirred tank heater. As a result, it was observed that the proposed controller shows a satisfactory performance for variable delay as well as stochastic disturbance.

  • In this paper, design approach of PID controller with rejection function against external disturbance in motor control system is proposed using bacterial foraging based optimal algorithm. Up to the present time, PID Controller has been used to operate for AC motor drive because of its implementational advantages in practice and simple structure. However, it is not easy to achieve an optimal PID gain with no experience, since the gain of the PID controller has to be manually tuned by trial and error in the industrial system with disturbance. To design disturbance rejection tuning, disturbance rejection conditions based on $H_{\infty}$ are illustrated and the performance of response based on the bacterial foraging is computed for the designed PID controller as ITSE (Integral of time weighted squared error). Hence, parameters of PID controller are selected by bacterial foraging based optimal algorithm to obtain the required response

  • The ink jet printer media advance system is required to be exactly driven to the target position via tracking the reference velocity profile to obtain the high quality print image. A single gain PID controller is not sufficient to fulfill the control objectives, the exact velocity tracking and the accurate positioning, at the same time. A dual PID controller and its switching strategy are presented in this paper to achieve the control objectives. The media advance system is controlled by two separate PID controllers, one of which is for velocity control, and the other is for position control. A PID controller controls the velocity of the media advance system until it reaches the predetermined switching position. When the media advance system passes the predetermined position, the controller is switched to the other PID controller which is more profitable for exact positioning. The switching position is determined by the estimated stop distance. The simulation and experimental results are presented to show the validity and effectiveness of the proposed controller.
