수온충격에 따른 금붕어(Carassius auratus)의 혈액 성상 및 생리적 반응 (Physiological Response and Hematological Characteristics of Goldfish (Carassius auratus) to Water Temperature Shock)

  • 금붕어(Carassius auratus)를 사용하여 수온변화에 따른 스트레스 반응에 대한 기초자료를 얻고자, 수온상승과 하강에 따른 혈액 성상 및 생리적 반응을 조사하였다. 수온은 $15^{\circ}C$로부터 급격하게 하강시켜 1시간이내에 $10^{\circ}C$로 사육수를 조절하였으며, 이후 자연적으로 수온이 상승하도록 조절하였다. 12시간째에 수온은 $15^{\circ}C$로 회복되어 24시간째까지 유지하였다. 이러한 수온자극 스트레스를 3일 연속하여 주었다. 혈장 cortisol, glucose 및 lactic acid에서 72시간까지 대조구보다 스트레스 실험구에서 유의적으로 높은 값을 보였다. 혈장 $Na^+,\;Cl^-$ 및 aspartate aminotransferase (AST)는 두 그룹에서 유의적 차이를 보이지 않았다. 본 연구결과 혈장 cortisol, glucose, lactic acid, hematocrit, red blood cell 및 hemoglobin에서 일반적인 스트레스 반응을 보였다.

The Study on the Physiological Response in Wearing Sportswear in Two Different Environments

  • In this study, to find out the physiological reaction of the human body and the sensation of comfort when people are wearing sportswear which is made of waterproof breathable fabrics under general environmental conditions (temperature : $20{\pm}1^{\circ}C$, humidity : $60{\pm}5%RH$, air current : 0.1 m/sec) and rainy environmental conditions (temperature : $20{\pm}1^{\circ}C$, humidity : $60{\pm}5%RH$, air current : 0.1 m/sec, rainfall : 250 1/hr), we made an experiment with sportswear in an artificial climate chamber and studied the thermal physiological response and subjective sensation. Mean skin temperature of the subjects was low and had a big range of fluctuation in rainy environmental conditions of two condition. Temperature started to increase at the beginning of the exercise, reached the maximum at the 2nd level of the exercise and then started to decline. Rectal temperature showed a slighter increase and bigger range of fluctuation in general conditions than in rainy conditions. Except clothing micro climate in rainy conditions, temperature and humidity and their range of fluctuation around back were higher than those around chest. Humidity was high and had wide range of fluctuation in general conditions. Heart rate was 4.4 beats/min higher in general conditions. In subjective test on rainy conditions, the feeling of discomfort increased due to the raindrops fallen on the skin. Unlike that in general conditions, cold sensation increased and humidity sensation reached to the peak after the exercise. In wearing sportswear made of shape memory breathable waterproof fabric, controlling function over a small amount of heat and water was distinctive while it turned out to be not so comfortable over a large amount of heat and water. Through this, the limitation of shape memory breathable waterproof fabric was recognised.

건강 쾌적 니트의류가 온열생리반응에 미치는 영향 (Thermal Physiological Response of Functional Knitwears for Health and Comfort)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate physiological response and subjective sensation of functional knitwears with different materials and designs. The three different types of knitwears were knitted(polar-neck with cotton/chitosan-C, V-neck with cotton/chitosan-CV and polar neck with cotton/chitosan/silver yarn-CS) and evaluated by four healthy female subjects. Eardrum temperature, mean skin temperature, clothing microclimate, and heart rate were measured in climatic chamber($30^{\circ}C$, 50%RH, 0.5m/sec). The results were as follows. 1. Eardrum temperature was generally evaluated as lower in CV and CS than in C. Mean skin temperature was lower in knitwears with silver yarn than in knitwears without silver yarn. 2. Clothing microclimate temperature on the chest was lower in knitwears with silver yarn than in knitwears without silver yarn. 3. Clothing microclimate humidity was generally lower knitwears with silver yarn than knitwears without silver yarn. 4. Heart rate was lower in knitwears with silver yarn than in knitwears without silver yarn and lower in V-neck than in polar neck. 5. Thermal sensation was slightly warmer in knitwears without silver yarn than in knitwears with silver yarn. Overall comfort sensation was evaluated as more comfortable in CV and CS than in C.

추운 환경에서 보온용 장갑 착용이 고령 여성의 인체 생리 반응 및 주관적 감각에 미치는 효과 (Wearing Effects of Winter Gloves in Cold Environment on Physiological Responses and Subjective Perception in Elderly Females)

  • This study examined the physiological and psychological effects of wearing gloves at rest in a cold environment. Seven elderly females participated in two separate trials: wearing gloves (WG) and bare hands (BH). The experiment was conducted for 60 min in a climatic chamber (air temperature 7.8±0.3℃ with 44±2%RH) with a sedentary posture. Microclimate temperature on the left palm was 4.16℃ higher in WG compared to that in BH (p<.1). Microclimate temperature on the chest during the last 5 min increased compared to the initial 5 min only in WG (p<.05). During the last 5 min, skin temperatures at the arm and hand in WG were higher than those in BH (p<.05). There was no statistical difference in the change of rectal temperature between WG and BH. Heart rate in BH was significantly higher compared to the WG (p<.05). Subjects also felt less cold on the whole body and hand in WG than those in BH (p<.05). The findings indicate that wearing gloves for elderly females affected the distribution of skin temperature and cardiovascular response in cold environments. Elderly females should be informed about the importance of wearing gloves through the clothing guideline in winter.

척수전근내 구심흥분을 받는 척수신경세포의 생리학적 특성 (Electrophysiological Characteristics of Spinal Neurons Receiving Ventral Root Afferent Inputs in the Cat)

  • The physiological characteristics of the neurons receiving the ventral root afferent inputs were investigated in the cat. A total of 70 cells were identified in the lumbosacral spinal cord. All these cells responded only to the C-strength stimulation of the distal stump of cut ventral root and the estimated conduction velocities of the VRA fibers were not faster than 4 m/sec. The majority of them were silent in resting state. For 49 cells, their peripheral receptive fields were characterized. Among them, 25 cells were exclusively excited by VRA inputs, 8 were inhibited and the remaining cells recevied both excitatory and inhibitory VRA inputs. According to the response pattern to the mechanical stimuli applied to their receptive fields, only a fourth of them were typical high threshold cell, a sixth, wide dynamic range cells, while remainings were a rather complex cells. Most of the cells receiving VRA inputs, received only the A ${\delta}-peripheral$ nerve inputs. Intravenous injection of morphine decreased the response of spinal cells to the VRA activation. The responses were abolished completely by counter irritation to the common peroneal nerve with C-strength-low frequency stimuli. These physiological properties of the spinal neurons receiving the VRA inputs are differ in some aspect from the spinal neurons receiving nociceptive inputs from the periphery, but still were consistent with the contention that VRA system might carry nociceptive informations arising from the spinal cord and/or neraby surrounding tissues.

장관 평활근에서 Na-free용액이 Ethanol의 효과에 미치는 영향 (Effect of $Na^+$ Removal on the Action of Ethanol in Cat Ileal Longitudinal Muscle)

  • Ethanol이 고양이 회장 종주근의 수축에 미치는 영향을 관찰한 결과 정상 Tyrode용액에서는 $0.5{\pm}4%$ 범위내에서 자발적 수축 및 기초장력을 억제하였으나 $Na^+$이 surcose로 대치된 용액에서는 수축을 유발시켰다. 이러한 수축은 ethanol의 농도에 비례하여 증가하였으며 용액내의 Na-free 용액으로 처리한 기간이 길수록 증가하였다. 용액내 $Ca^{2+}$이 없는 경우에도 ethanol에 의한 수축은 $La{+3}$에 의해 억제되었으나 verapamil을 전처치한 후 Na-free액을 처리했을 때는 수축이 나타나지를 않았다. Ethanol은 $^45Ca$의 유출에는 어떤 영향을 나타내지는 못하였다. 이상의 결과로 보아 Na-free용액에서 ethanol은 세포막에 결합하고 있는 $Ca^{2+}$이나 세포내부에 결합하고 있는 $Ca^{2+}$의 세포내로 유리를 증가시켜 수축을 유발시키는 것으로 사료된다.

  • Analysis of behavior pattern and thermal response during bathing and showering provides important fundamental data when developing an automatic bathing/showering system. The behavior pattern and physiological changes during bathing/showering were measured und analyzed for the aged male group. We recorded the volunteers showering at front, back, left and right view using four CCTV cameras in order to study the behavior pattern during showering. The photographic data were analyzed by counting the frequencies of body contact and identifying zones where hands could reach. In order to study the thermal response, we measured the blood pressure (B.P), heart rate (H.R), body temperature (B.T.), breathing rate (B.R) for the different water temperatures and the locations of immersion for the young and old age groups. The results showed that the frequencies of body contacts were varied for different body sections. Also there were some body sections where hands could not be reached because of reduced pliability and muscular strength of the aged group. But we observed rather uniform body contact frequencies when a towel was used. In partial immersion bath experiments, we observed the changes of B.P. H.R and B.T in the case of young and old age groups, and the changes were more significant in the young age group.

Effects of dry period length on milk production and physiological responses of heat-stressed dairy cows during the transition period

  • The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of a traditional dry period (60 d) versus a no dry period (0 d) on the milk production, physiological response, and metabolic status of dairy cows exposed to heat stress during the transition period. Holstein dairy cows (n = 15) with similar expected calving dates were randomly assigned to two different dry period lengths: (1) no dry period (n = 7) and (2) a traditional dry period of 60 days (n = 8). All cows were studied from 8 weeks before expected calving to 10 weeks after calving and experienced heat stress during the transition period. The results showed that cows with no dry period decreased their milk yield in subsequent lactation, but compensated for the loss of milk yield accounted for by additional milk yield before calving. The energy balance at postpartum was improved in cows with no dry period compared to cows with a traditional dry period. There were no significant differences in the physiological response and blood metabolites at postpartum between the dry period lengths of dairy cows exposed to heat stress during the transition period. Taken together, our results showed that omitting the dry period improved the milk production and metabolic status of dairy cows exposed to heat stress during the transition period.

지하철 역사 내 벽면녹화가 생리심리학적 스트레스 완화에 미치는 영향 (Reduced Physio-psychological Stress Responses to the Green Wall in Subway Station)

  • This study was conducted to investigate the response of the human body to stress induced by wall recording of subway stations in the city center. The experiment was conducted as a simulation exercise, and six images were selected and produced based on Subway Line 2, a representative underground space in Seoul. The study participants included 24 male and female college students. A three-minute experiment was conducted, during which the participants were shown the control image and green wall image once each. To measure psychological status, the following measurement indicators were used: Semantic Differential, Positive Affect and Negative Affect Schedule and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. Physiological changes were investigated by tracking participants' heart rate and blood pressure. Results showed that parasympathetic and sympathetic nerves were activated in the presence of the green wall in the subway station. The psychological evaluation analysis revealed that negative affect toward underground space decreased, while positive affect increased. This study found that the green wall in subway stations has a stable effect on the human body, both psychologically and physiologically. In the future, green walls in underground spaces can be used to reduce psychological stress and increase physiological relaxation.

저수온 스트레스에 따른 능성어 (Epinephelus septemfasciatus) 혈액의 생리생화학적 반응 (Physiological and Biochemical Response of Blood on Low Temperature Stress in Sevenband Grouper, Epinephelus septemfasciatus)

  • 본 연구는 능성어 (Epinephelus septemfasciatus)의 겨울철 저수온으로 발생하는 폐사원인 규명을 위한 생리생화학적인 반응을 조사하기 위하여 수온 $12^{\circ}C$를 대조구로 Exp. I ($-1^{\circ}C/24h$), Exp. II ($-1^{\circ}C/8h$)의 실험구를 정하여 9일간에 걸쳐 생존율, 코티졸, 글루코스, 총단백질 및 전해질 농도를 측정하였다. 생존율은 Exp. I 실험구의 경우 사육수온 $5^{\circ}C$로 하강한 후 170시간째 12마리의 폐사를 시작으로 174시간째에 전 개체 폐사하였다. 반면 Exp. II 실험구의 경우 $5^{\circ}C$로 하강한 후 72시간째 9 마리의 폐사를 시작으로 76시간째 전 개체가 폐사하였다. 생리적 반응은 Exp. I과 Exp. II의 미비한 차이는 있으나 비슷한 경향이 나타났으며, 혈장 코티졸과 글루코스의 대사생리가 $7^{\circ}C$에 급격하고 상승하고, 유영능력과 아가미 개폐운동이 빨라졌다. 이상의 결과로 능성어의 저수온 내성의 임계수온은 $7^{\circ}C$로 추정된다.
